1. I've posted a short clip to the 1987 vampire movie, The Lost Boys.  It's in the Readings, Images, Media area.  Please view it and refer to it for the discussion question below.

   Yesterday you wrote about fears and desires in Victorian England and how they are reflected in the novel, Dracula.  As you know by now, a theme for this course is that some fears and desires stay the same and some change. After viewing the clip from The Lost Boys, what do you think about the vampires' interactions with Michael? What do they seem to want from him?  What does he seem to want from them?  What kind of a twist does this scene seem to put on the vampire story?
   As a bonus question--what was going on the U.S. in the 1980s, and how might this take on the vampire story have reflected that decade's concerns?
