Jane Eyre

Movie review

Jane Eyre is a movie that was established in the year 1996. Jane Eyre is an orphan who is left to live under the mercies of her relative who happens to be her aunt, Mrs. Reed. She goes through a tough time as she is mistreated and segregated while in her aunt’s home.  She is thus sent to be brought up in one of the harsh charity girls’ boarding school (Brontë 2002). While in the school, she grows both physically as well as mentally, and at the age of eighteen, she becomes a teacher. Later, she advertises for a position of becoming a governess and she was called upon to go to Thorn field. It is while she was in this place that she fell in love with Mr. Rochester and he also fell in love with her. He, however, yields an awful and bad secret that threatens to separate them for good (Brontë 2002).

In the movie, as Jane was a kid, she always wanted to play outside, have fun and also play the piano but just before she could play, her teacher always wanted her to do some basic  mathematics. Jane, therefore, struggled and as a form of motivating her, the teacher would give her piano lessons if she got the arithmetic correct (Brontë 2002). The aspect of her using mathematics is also seen in the way she calculates all that is happening around her and she tries to balance her life. This movie is relevant even today as it is used by many people who try to represent Jane’s personality and her devotion in encountering all the challenges that she faces in life trying to balance each one of them.
