Reflective letter
Practice perfects our abilities. The English class has helped me in many ways such as increasing my writing abilities. For instance, writing two paragraphs in an article helped me to trace the things that we learned in the class lesson. One of the main things that an article needs is to write down the things we have learned. By this, I am able to preserve information well because I review it through the written down notes. Moreover, I have learnt how to compose several kinds of essays such as professional, casual, cause and effect and the argumentative essays. Throughout the class lessons, the class practiced one of these essay types of essays, where I would start and finish them before the others. The ideas that I got from these essays helped me to include transitions, which I noted were some words that made my ideas connect and flow smoothly. These skills helped me on how to write a summary much like in the essay that gave a format to follow.
The class gave me new writing skills that help in future. For instance, I have already learned how to think fast and derived quick ideas from the essays. Getting into details of the essay ideas was one thing that challenged me. Continuing to stay in the class increased my quick type skill and quick comprehension of ideas so that I could have time to edit the essay. At first, I got confused but I understood the essay outline that gathered information.
The English class gave me a good writing experience. Though sometimes the essays became tiresome, I remembered I will use these skills in my profession and practiced more. I have gained much knowledge in this class about my style and practice of writing. One of the characteristics of this class that was of much importance was the writing of articles. I was capable to preserve new skills that I have learnt and applied them to my writing. I also constructed a writing timetable so that I could finish my work on the needed time. I will continue reserving the journals as I currently do because I saw that it helps me in preserving information. Finally, in relating the skills that I have and working on them, they will become my routine on writing. Therefore, I will become a professional writer.
Though this lesson is informative and effective, I think it needs more writing partners to make the lesson productive mainly during discussions. Only group discussions, only a few people will be able to talk, as others are shy or have different opinions. Group discussion and partner working benefit a class, because the students are able to talk of their thoughts and judgments. At the end of the discussion, the whole class shares their ideas that they presented.
This class has aroused many skills that I did not recognize before. I feel that I have made an improvement in understanding writing techniques. Writing has not been a best subject to me. This is because it is comprised of many rules in it. The English classes made me understand every approach of these rules that would make it hard for me to understand. I learnt every type of essay, its structure and composition. This concept improved my paraphrasing abilities.
I believe these skills have made me have new understanding, as I now know the benefits of it. New abilities that I have gained has made ma have an organized way of learning. If this lesson had not given me all the benefits I gained from it, I would have struggled through it and would not have gained the knowledge I currently have. The pace we used to work with in the class was rapid but it was the best way to keep our minds focused and on work every time. One thing I enjoyed was the group discussions as we socialized more and had more review time. I really enjoyed the time in the course and I feel it was great experience. The topics could drag me in and I was able to raise my personal thought on a specific issue. The only thing that I would adjust if I were to take the class once more is to connect to the people you are writing about and try to get interested to the subject given to you. This makes the writing to become enjoyable and makes ease the flow of ideas.
I enjoyed the lessons and the tasks given. The other effective thing was the social connection with the other classmates. Our English lecturer always emphasized how effective it was to have social time during the kind of lesson. We got the chances to share our opinions for some time and to talk about anything we wanted at the start of the lesson. In addition, English was an effective course to take. I learned many things about general writing using my own method. I gained skills that I currently use in my writings, which make my working effective. As these skills are essential, I will use them to my professional life. The future occupations can be writing several college admittance essays and learning essays. I develop and consider these skills as I think they are important to my success of becoming a professional writer.
