1.Explain intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation and your response to Thompson's conclusions.
2. Reflect on your own motivation and your experiences with others who are either intrinsically or extrinsically motivated. Did compensation or potential rewards affect your decision making process? If so how. 
3. Have you ever had a situation (looking back where cognitive dissonance  (http://www.simplypsychology.org/cognitive-dissonance.html) played a role in validating the meaning and value of your actions. The link here is to add insight into the theory in easily understood ways. Consider if you are attaching meaning to actions that are not necessarily important but you need to feel that they are important.
4. Comment on the role of praise and creative goals and if you have had better results with conscious  goals. Or looking back do you realize now how unconscious  goals were used to motivate you. 
5. Have you ever experienced (or heard of the theory of flow? Thompson outlines six conditions essential to optimizing performance. They may seem obvious when read but when you combine all six, will they result in a heightened state of performance and immersion.  (I use this technique in my research classes)
6. Have you experienced the "Exposure effect" or that being happy makes it possible for you to get more out of your experiences? Can we help ourselves to embrace happiness?

This chapter is timely as we look back on the past 9 weeks, your performance, realizations and regrets. 
Your Reaction paper: should contain Flow about 4 pages of exquisite prose  in response to this very important chapter which looks a motivation and it can affect the outcome of your efforts your health and your career. Below at minimum are key areas within this chapter you must address.
