Writing an Educational Autobiography
An autobiography is the story of your life. An educational autobiography puts a bit more emphasis on how you have learned throughout your life and how this can influence your success in college and in the future.
For this assignment, please try to think back (or talk to people who would remember) to your early years. How did you learn things? When did you learn to walk and talk? Were you a curious child? Think about your early school days. Was there a teacher you really liked? Was there a teacher your really didn’t like? Why? Was there a subject you were really good at? Was there a subject you really dreaded? Why? What do these memories tell you about yourself as a learner? What do you like to learn? How do you like to learn?
Then, pick one or two very significant learning experiences you had. These may have happened in school or maybe happened out of school. But, describe one or two significant learning experiences you had. Describe what it is you learned, why you learned it, how you learned it and how thinking about this experience might help you learn better now that you are in college.
Conclude with a summary that pulls together what you have learned about yourself as a result of writing this autobiography and how thinking about your learning experiences can help you to learn what you need to learn now in order to achieve your goals.
Note: As with all college assignments, this paper should:
• Be typed, double-spaced, using 12 pt. font.
• Have an introduction (what’s the purpose/point of this paper),
• Have a body (the main information you want to relate), and
• Have a conclusion (that summarizes your paper in a way that shows you achieved your purpose).
• Include pictures if you can.
