4. Target Market (approximately ½ a page + 1 chart): Share who you plan to sell your product/service to, being as specific as possible. While virtually anyone could purchase your product/service, is that realistic given how you will sell/market your idea? Who is your ideal customer? Give a good description of this individual. Research (and cite in APA format) the demographics within a defined geographic area (where you would locate your business) to determine the number of potential customers in your target market. Consulting the Reference USA database through the UNL Libraries website, as well as census.gov data, will help you obtain demographic information (don’t forget to cite anything you use in your report). Illustrate your target market graphically through a chart within this section.
5. Proposed Marketing Plan (approximately ½ a page + 1 table): Describe the best ways to communicate with your target market. Areas you might consider (as applicable) are: packaging, advertising, media, social media. Include any special considerations such as events or timing of marketing efforts. Design a table that succinctly outlines each strategy, who it will reach, duration, and any other relevant details.
6. Future Outlook (approximately ½ a page): Outline your milestones (planned major goals that must be achieved for your business to succeed). Next, describe a long-term vision for this business. Identify any future products/services, as well as plans for expansion.
7. Summary (approximately ¼ a page): Wrap up your report with a brief summary of the main takeaways from each section, as well as thoughts on your business idea as a whole.
FORMAT
· Compose the report using guidelines and principles outlined in your textbook as well as
discussed in lecture and recitation. · Remember that a report uses single spacing, with a blank line between paragraphs and sections. Your margins should be 1” on all sides of the document. · The font should be something standard like Times New Roman, Bookman Old Style, or Georgia, 11- or 12-point. · The Executive Summary and Letter of Transmittal are a separate assignment that begins in Week 12 but corresponds with this report. · After your Summary, you should include your References in APA format. Include a heading of References (not Works Cited nor Bibliography). This heading should match the rest of your sections.
FINAL NOTE
Your work will be will be evaluated using the Business Report rubric posted on Canvas (look in the Business Report Rough Draft space) as well as information provided in lecture and recitation. You are encouraged to consult this document as you are writing your assignment, comparing your work against specified criteria.
DUE DATES**IMPORTANT:
· You have more time to submit this report than usual. Instead of submitting a final draft the Sunday following peer review in recitation, you have an additional week. You will need to write your letter of transmittal and executive summary in this time as well.
· For all past assignments, you have submitted in the Final Draft space, NOT the Rough Draft space. For this assignment, you need to submit your rough draft to the Rough Draft space and the final draft of the report to the Final Draft space. Please read and
follow the instructions when submitting the final draft.
