For this assignment, you are to identify a controversial (or wicked) public policy issue (such as drug trafficking, global security, health care, childhood obesity, poverty, etc.).
Conduct independent research on your chosen issue to learn more about it.
Think back over your MPA courses to find ways that your studies in different courses speak to these difficult issues.
Then write a properly-formatted analytic, strategic, and realistic 1000-1500 word memorandum (including references) of a newspaper or magazine article, internet-based article, or some other professional source that addresses some aspect of your issue.
Address the Memorandum to your instructor.
Organize your memorandum-style assessment with the following sections, identified by corresponding subheadings:
Summary (one paragraph): A general summary of the salient issues embedded in it (at least two opposing viewpoints).
Evaluation (one paragraph): A brief evaluation of whether the article appears to have any bias associated with it.
Role of a Christian Policy Actor (four paragraphs): An assessment of the role of a Christian policy actor (administrator, lobbyist, policy advocate, elected official, etc.) in this issue based on the four (4) points discussed by Dr. Wright. Each issue should be addressed in its own paragraph.
