Questions We Can Help You To Answer

Paper instructions:

Think of a situation that tested your ethical behavior. For example, maybe you saw someone take something that did not belong to them or a friend forgot about a term paper and asked if s/he could use yours from last semester. Or perhaps you did something that was unethical. There are no value judgements here... 

Discussion Questions: 

Describe the ethical situation that you experienced or encountered.

What were your alternatives? In other words, what were the different actions you could have taken?
What were the consequences of each of these actions?
Would you choose the same action now, looking back on the situation?

Would it have been easier to resolve the ethical dilemma if you had asked yourself the three ethical check questions, e.g. (a) Is my proposed action legal? (b) Is my proposed action balanced? (c) How will my proposed action make me feel about myself?

How can these three questions help people, especially managers, make better decisions?
