- Introduction
- Various studies indicate that the human beings share more similarities than the differences. The similarities among the human being are demonstrated through such things as the experience towards something. In this case most of people show similar response towards incidences such loss of a loved one. This essay therefore presents a strong argument to show that the people demonstrate similar reactions towards the incident related to war. In order to prove this point the essay presents three interviews that demonstrates that people show similarity in the response towards incident related to war.
- Interview 1
- Mayor Tom Bradley
- Tom Bradley once acted as the mayor of Los Angeles. In addition he also acted as a police officer during his early stages ( Turkel 26). In his story he describes an incidence where everyone had thought that the enemy had attacked their town. He therefore indicates that everybody was in a panic mode. In addition he indicates that all the police officers were ordered to remain in their respective stations a waiting the further instructions. However, he indicates that upon realizations that were no enemies everybody went into laughter.
- Interview 2
- Dennis Keegan
- Dennis Keega is a layer. He is also somebody who is successful in his endeavors. In his story he narrates how on one Sunday morning he was with his friend San Francisco when they were stopped by the a nationals guardsman. The guardsman looked at their car and it was battered chevvy. He narrates that after they reached near the United Artist Theatre the dancing lights had gone off and people were throwing everything to put the lights off shouting ‘blackout’ (Turkel 25). At that moment no single car could move since the people were blocking the roads throwing stones and anything they could find. After realizing that the situation was not good Dennis decided to get out of that place to prevent their car from destruction by the angry mob. He therefore went to his room where he met Mrs Kelleher who instructed him to switch off lights since the Japanese were coming. She further told him that the golden gate had been bombed and hence that was a sure proof that they could come at any time. Mrs kelleher seemed terrified by the news that the bridge had been bombed by the Japanese. However the truth is that there were no such bombing.

- John Garcia managed complex apartment in los Angelis. During his early life he lived with his grandmother. In his story he narrates that it was on December 7, 1941 when his grandmother woke him up and informed him that the Japanese wanted to bomb the Pearl Harbor. However after being informed by his grandmother he ignored her advice and insisted that he that “they are just practicing”, (Turkel 19) his grandmother tried to indicate that it was real and that all the Pearl Harbor workers were told to report to work. He therefore decided that he would go near that place to confirm whether what his grandmother had told was true. After only travelling for about four miles towards the place he realized that what he was told was correct since the place looked messy. In addition he indicates that at that moment another Japanese wave came where a bomb had been penetrated the marine deck. He was order by an officer to go down to place where there seemed to be a bomb ammunition powder. However, he refused to go down and check whether that it was bomb. A week later he was taken to the navy court, but since he was under-age and there was no way he could be jailed.
- Similarity of the interview presented
- Considering the three interview presented it is evident that in all the three case all the people involved show some kind of panic once they realized that that a war related danger was about to come. In the first interview Tom Bradley was in panic after he heard that there were rumors that the enemies attacked the town. Considering the second case it is also evident that Mrs. Kelleher had received the news about the attack on the golden gates. In this case she even told Denis that he needed to switch off the lights since the Japanese were also planning to attack the university. In addition in the last case presented it is evident that the John also refused to jump to when he was order by the officer to get down and see whether the sheet was containing the traces of ammunition materials.
- Differences
- One of the striking difference in the three interview presented is that in the last case John shows some considerable level of doubt after hearing the news about the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor. However in the two other cases all the people involved tend to believe the information presented to them about possibility of a war attack once they receive the information.
- Conclusion
- From the above it is evident that the people show similar response towards the incidents related to war attacks. In this case most of the people tend to believe such information are true once they get to hear that there is news about a war attack. Some tend to panic and even unable to make good decision once they get such information. However, it is important to note that once the people realize that there were no such things as the war attack most people tend to laugh for themselves.
