For this discussion you are to post a response to the following question. "What were the key developments that explain America's rapid expansion across the continent in the post civil war years?" "Which factor do you think was the most important and why?"

Note the due date for posting your answer to the discussion question is Thursday, February 6th. The due date for posting responses to classmates in Saturday, February 8th. 

Your answer should be no shorter than 250 words. After you answer this question you must return to this discussion assignment several times during the week and respond to the postings of your fellow classmates. A minimum of two such responses are required. If you post only the minimum number of responses you will earn no more than a B for this discussion assignment. The more responses you post together with the quality of the work on your answer to the discussion question will determine your score on this assignment.
