Workplace/Career Research Presentation Assignment
Unlike the previous major assignments, the assignment for this module will be a presentation rather than an essay. This project will focus on real-life problem solving skills and will give you a better understanding of your career goals, the skills necessary to be successful in your chosen career, and a clearer view of the paths you will need to take in order to reach your goals.
Here is the order you need to follow for this assignment:
Choose a career that you are either considering or are already pursuing.
Make a list of at least 7 insightful, relevant, and useful research questions you have about your chosen career.
Research online databases and reputable websites (found in Google Scholar) and other types of sources you can use in order to answer your research questions. You must use a minimum of 5 sources and use at least one Online Database source. You will earn 5% extra credit if you use a primary source. In this case, that would mean interviewing a person in your career field and using that person as a source on your Works Cited or References slide.
Incorporate your findings into a professional looking presentation using either PowerPoint or Prezi. Your presentation should be a minimum of 10 slides not counting your Works Cited or References slides.
You MUST include a video within your presentation. Directions on how to insert a youtube video into your PowerPoint. (Links to an external site.)
Be sure that you DO include a Works Cited or References slide. For this assignment, you will choose MLA or APA depending on your CAREER choice. The APA (American Psychological Association) format is primarily assigned to writing in the fields social sciences: psychology, sociology, nursing, social work, criminology, and business where more timely sources are more important than older works. The MLA (Modern Language Association) is the format of choice for the humanities: literature, language, history, philosophy, the arts, and religion. If your field of study does not fit into one of these areas, please use the one you are most comfortable with.
