Summary

Greg Cook a head master at Panhandle Christian School (PCS) had a goal to attract quality teachers to improve the competitiveness of the school but the budget for this strategy is so tight until its success seems unachievable. There are limits beyond which he could not raise the tuition fees and the lower limit to which the tuition expenses cannot go beyond. If he reduces or does way with the benefit, the question arises on how the reactions of the beneficiaries would be. The dilemma comes about after the PCS got detached from the PCU and received a normal treatment as any other private school. A comparison between the PCS and the local independent public school also remains a challenge to the strategy from a salary perspective. In the benefit quandary, the head master revised the budget with the help of committee members with a conclusion that salary increment was a long term goal for the school.

PCU will definitely withdraw its support of employee benefit because the PCS is now an independent institution. If the school succeeds in the main goal of employing quality teachers, it will not lose students. The best interest that PCS has is to maximize the quality of education as well as an increase of income and financial stability. Some families should “grandfathered” in order to implement the policy seamlessly. It was fair for the school to remain as less competitive rather than putting a lot of strain on the tuition payments and therefore the changes should not be phased in. the teachers have nothing to do with this discussion because from an overall point of view, the private school is so small to accommodate the policy.
