Introduction
The field of research in psychology is paramount. In the section on competencies, it is expected that psychologists understand and know the research in their fields, with particular attention paid to evidenced-based interventions. It is through research that evidence is gathered. There is a long history of unethical research that this competency attempts to address. Stringent ethical compliance is maintained through institution review boards (also known as human subjects review). It is easy for researchers to engage in behaviors that can have serious consequences.
