Questions and Topics We Can Help You To Answer:
Paper Instructions:
Your primary goal is to analyze a representation of identity in a TV series or film. When thinking of “representation of identity,” think of the major aspects of identity that we have been exploring this semester: race, gender, sexual orientation, ableness and disability, age, ethnicity, religion, class, etc. You will be closely examining a TV series or film that explores a character, characters, or a theme related to one of these identity categories. Analysis breaks a work (in this case the TV series or film) down to closely examine its various parts in order to see the work in a new light. Analysis involves close reading and critical thinking. Analytical writing is one of the most common genres in academia, so the chances that you have done some sort of analysis before are high, and the chances that you will do some in your future classes is even greater. TASK: Compose a 3-4 page essay that analyzes how a TV series or film represents an aspect of Identity. Make sure that your subject (the TV show or film) clearly focuses on a representation that is linked to one of the major social identity aspects that we covered in the beginning of this course (race/ethnicity, gender, class, religion, ability, sexual orientation/identity, etc.) Make a judgement about how your subject portrays this identity.
