  • Corruption
  •             Corruption is the act of offering bribes to gain the first privilege in certain situations. People usually engage in corruption so that they can get unfair advantage in their daily life. Unfair advantage that corrupt people engage may include paying of lower tax and getting promotion in their place of work. Some people engage in acts of corruption in order to win prizes while other gives bribes so that they can avoid various penalties. In most cases, corruption starts in the governance level and then to the public. Corruption starts when the society fails to employ moral values. In the government level, corruption starts when there are no pillars of good governance (Uslaner, 2008).
  •             In the government premises, politicians engage in corruption in order they can use the money for patronage. The officials who offer low quality of work engage in corruption in order to sustain their stay in office. Many employees engage in acts of corruption when there is bad management in an organization. The bad management especially on matters of payment make employees feels comfortable when claiming bribes to offer various services. Some people engage in corruption as a means of outwitting authority. People engage in corruption activities because of selfishness. Corruption has beneficial gains that people cling on and this make the practice common (Uslaner, 2008).
  •             Corruption starts in a working environment when there is a clear opportunity to do so. For example, entering goods that fail to meet specific qualifications in a country. The other cause of corruption is when those engaging in the act know that there are minimal chances of the authority catching them. In addition, when there are no transparency especially on public officials, corruption often takes place. Another factor contributes to the start of corruption is negative thinking while working. For example, an employee may engage in acts of corruption because the income is very low. When an employee thinks that the job is not secure, it is possible to engage in corruption in order to make money for saving (Dahlström, 2009).
  •             The act of corruption starts with the common people who have negative attitude towards certain institutions. People also engage in corruption in order to avoid performing illegitimate laws. People also engage in corruption activities when the law is against some of their culture values. When a government is inefficient in matters of management of its structures, officials engage in corruption in order to gain personal satisfaction (Dahlström, 2009). When the government is secretive in matters of issuing jobs to the public, people engage in corrupt activities so that they can secure such vacancies. When the law fails to offer strict punishable consequences to those caught on corrupt activities, people engage in the corruption activities without fear.
  •             Corruption starts due to the mentality of human nature that it is possible to get things without using the right way. Existing of tribal organizations in the government level contributes to the acts of corruption to take place. Due to poverty, people tend to be corrupt when they secure a place in a certain office in order to favor their relatives first. Most of the time corruption starts with the failure of government to enact stable laws. In addition, the public also contribute in the action of corruption to take place (Burgon, 2000).
