Paper Instructions:

This paper will focus on the background information about your topic and the impact at an individual level. This section of your paper should be further development of your outline and no more than 4 -5 pages in length, excluding cover and reference pages.

Required Elements:

Cover page
Introduction – further development of Outline, sections a and c (focus should be on impact of stress/ distress at individual level);
Reflecting upon your readings, explain how race, gender, sexual orientation, and/or socioeconomic status play a role in the impact of the issue on individuals;
Brief history of the issue: when was it first recognized as a mental health issue and how has it been framed and addressed over time;
Examples (2 – 3) that demonstrate how the issue has been addressed at an individual level; and interpersonal level
Funding mechanisms for existing programs/services, e.g., government, private insurance, etc. Be specific, e.g., city funding through department of mental health

Reference page(s) Please have a minimum of 6 references including those identified from the Outline


Papers must be typewritten, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, with 1 inch margins and APA referencing. Please be sure to use headings for each section. Do not use right justification or running heads. Be sure to number your pages.

◦Page Length—5-6 pages (but ultimately a thoroughly researched and well written paper that answers the questions posed in guidelines

◦APA Format---Margins, Citations, References, Headings

◦Citations (in text) must match References (on last page of paper) –must follow APA format (see APA Style Guide in Modules)

◦Headings –must distinguish the different sections of the paper (do not use the questions as headings)

◦Writing Style---Research papers are in THIRD Person ….no first/second person (I, me, my, we, you). See Third Person Guidelines in Modules

◦Turn-It-In ---Check your score, it cannot be over 20% for that would be considered a plagiarized paper and could result in a ZERO on your paper
