- Briefly describe the client’s background
- The patient discussed in the case is known as Becky and she is 24 years of age. She was raised in a church and acquired great faith but she renounces it. She is a bright woman who is taking her studies in the university and she is ambitious. She has been struggling to keep a strong relationship with her family and friends because of the disease. Becky is current living with her father because she says even though she fails to relate well with other people, she is more self and unhappy when living alone. Becky has a problem of realizing who she is and this affects her ability to perform various obligations that other people of her age can manage to perform. For example, she cannot be able to work in large corporation. This is because she cannot manage to create a lasting relationship with clients. She also believes of being illegitimate and expresses a sense in disbelieve in her ability. This makes her to have self-doubt that leads her in getting internal conflict. She has a great will of getting the cure of borderline personality.
- Factors in the client’s background that might predispose her to the disorder
- Poor care giving during child hood is one of the reasons that might lead a patient in having the disorder. For example, a child may become overly dependent on parents or guardians lacking the ability to believe in what he/she can perform. The disorder may occur because of discrimination especially when the patient is of younger age. In the case, lack of proper parental care might be the main reason that caused Becky to have the disease. This is because her background does not present the role that her motherhood. This kind of discrimination might be one of the causes of the disease.
