- My General Experience Seeing Patients in the Clinic
- Basic Observations
- Most of the patients enjoy and appreciate the services that they receive in the clinic while others offer various complains of being unsatisfied with the practices of some medical professionals.
- Overview of my observations
- The clinic holds a number of new patients daily while others receive permission of going back to their home after indicating signs of improvement. According to my observation, the interaction of doctors and nurses with patients creates a warm atmosphere in the clinic. After visiting patients in the clinic for several times, I realized that most of them exhibit the same characteristics. The patients arrive in the clinic very early in the morning in order to be the first to make an appointment with the doctor on duty. They appreciate very much the small gifs they receive in the clinic. Some of the gifts that they get include a free cup of tea at the clinic cafe. The management of the clinic also offers a leather note pad to the patients and sometimes a journal that helps keep them busy while waiting for the doctor.
- Most of the patients have records in the clinic that assist the doctors in making a follow up of the patients’ improvement. Some of the patients carry with them clinic outpatient cards that they were given during the last period they visited the clinic. Family members accompany patients who are in critical conditions or those who need special care. Most of these kinds of patients include those with injuries and the elderly ones. Parents also accompany children who cannot be able to explain their problem to the doctor.
- Reflections
- Patients who visit the clinic receive treatment in the order they arrived in the clinic. Those who arrived earlier always have the privilege of being the first to see the doctor. Some of the doctors offer lectures to patient before attending to their various problems. Patients who have diseases that need more attention get the first priority of seeking medication from the doctors. I have also experienced that the patients who have difficulties in filling records in the hospital get assistance from either their relatives or some of the staff members in the clinic. The patients who have physical disadvantages experience hard moments in most of the time. The patients who use while chairs most of the time have difficulties moving in the rooms where doctors usually wait for them. They also have trouble in the waiting room where most of other patients stay. The congestion of patients in the waiting room makes the movement of those with wheel chairs difficult. The in patients receive better services in the clinic that include proper medication. They also have access of food three times a day.
- Analysis
- Patients in the clinic have the advantage of accessing proper medication in the client. However, some of them complain that the backstage process in the clinic is chaotic. The patients illustrate that no one takes into consideration about their preferences in the back stage. The system of the clinic mostly depends on the management. According to the patients, the casual workers fail to offer the expected services. Most of the patients suggest that they require simplified process in the clinic in order the doctors can meet their requirements in a quicker way. All the patients in the client are happy for the privacy and confidentiality they receive in the clinic.
