Picture yourself as a person with a disability. Think about what was expressed in the videos. Can you relate to this?

In a few words, express:  

What do you notice? What concerns you? How do others respond to you? What kind of support can you rely on for help? How does Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 play a role with disability?
Think about your health as a person with a disability. What are your health care concerns and needs? What has been your experience with the health care system and its providers? What do you want nurses and others to understand about living with a disability? How might health care professionals devalue and disempower you? How can nurses and other health care providers care for you in a way that conveys respect and concern for you as a person? How has  historical attitudes and perspectives surrounding disability changed over the years and contributed to treatment of people with disabilities?
Imagine you live in a family affected by disability. How does disability affect you and others in the family?
In what types of activities does your family engage that are associated with disability?
What kinds of family or personal activities are difficult for you to carry out because of the disability?
How do people respond to you or to your family member with a disability?  Identify ethical issues related to the care of people with disabilities.
