- Some of the major symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder include:
- Problems with attention: this means that children with this disease simply ignore various details. They are always distractive and fail to complete tasks.
- Hyperactive behavior: the children with this disease seem to be restless and unable to sit quietly.
- Excessive impulsivity: the children constantly interrupt and they are unable to wait their turn.
- Briefly describe the client’s background
- The client is known as David and is 16 years of age. He is also a high school student and plays or reacts like any other boy of his age. For example, he is energetic; he loves girls and playing videos games. David is also a good-looking student and no one can be able to recognize whether he has this problem if not by taking some time with him. One of the factors that could clearly indicate that David have this type of problem is that he was always unable to sit down thus meaning he had the hyperactive behavior. David states that he has been with this disease for a long period as far as he can remember. He illustrates that while he was on elementary school, he kept on complaining to his mother that he has been on and out of medication throughout his life.
- The other time he can be able to remember of complaining about the disease is while on various summer seasons after closing the school. This particular disease has affected the life of David in a large extent for a long time. For example, he cannot be able to concentrate on various issues for a long time. This means that he becomes distracted and has been criticized much by his peers because of this behavior and condition. He says that he finds it hard for him to study and many teachers have given up on him. He is aware of being different from other kinds of his age and sometimes he is unhappy of this condition. He loves playing various games like “video games” but unfortunately gets distracted after sometime. He lives with his mother who is a single parent and she rarely demands any tasks from him because if his condition. David is currently under medication and takes drugs that he says that they help him to focus on various issues but in the same time causes him not to be social with others.

- These factors include biological, cultural and psychological.
- Biological factor
- Attention Deficit Disorder tends to be heritable. Children may adopt the disease from their parents especially fathers who may have had the disease.
- Cultural Factor
- The fast-paced culture tends to contribute for the occurrence of this particular disease. For example, children concentrating much on the nowadays technological devices like the computer, television and video games tends to cause some kind of trigger in their minds and hence they . The child becomes less able to cope with rapidly changing stimuli. Change in culture makes the brain become quicker in responding to unnecessary tasks.
- Another culture factor is that this disease tends to appear more in USA than in any other country.
- Psychological Factor
- Some childbearing practices plays part in contributing to the occurrence development of this particular disease.
- Being brought up single parents tends to have a high chance of contacting this disease.
