- The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurobiological condition that affects the behaviour and the cognitive function of an individual. The condition normally affects 5-8% of the school going children (Millichap, 2010). The condition is known to affect the various body structure and function of the child. In this case the condition is known to cause impairment in the global mental function which in turn causes reading and writing disability. This in ability of the child to read plays a role in participatory restriction where a child is unable move effectively across the various education programs. The impairment in the mental functioning also leads to poor control of psychomotor function which affects the ability of the child to control their own behaviours. Moreover, most of the children with (ADHD) disorders also suffer communication disorder where they are unable to express their feeling to their peers. This inability of the child to express their feeling affects the ability to interact with other children hence a child with ADHD ends up living in isolation. The environmental factors with regard to the condition include the various general and specific education services and policies that help in addressing disorder.
- Question 2
- Intervention
- In order to promote to personal level functioning of the child suffering ADHD the method that i will use is the cognitive therapy. This type of therapy is based on the fact the maladaptive behaviour is many cases is triggered by in appropriate or irrational thinking patterns (Bramham & Young, 2012). In addition this type of therapy is also based on the fact that individuals with ADHD instead of reacting to the reality of a situation the child in most cases reacts upon his or her own distortion. The cognitive therapy concentrates on changing the thoughts pattern of an individual through trying to examine the validity of the assumption behind the thought of an individual person. With regard to trying to identify the thought pattern the major aim is to establish any harmful or unhelpful thought pattern that can affect the health conditions of an individual. One of the major assumptions in cognitive therapy is that the negative thought of an individual can block the personal seeing and doing of things. In this case the cognitive therapy will target to try and change some of the personal clinical condition such inattentiveness as exhibited by the child suffering this condition. Through improving the attentiveness of the child the therapy will aim at ensuring that the child improves on the participatory performance in their social interactions.
- Cognitive therapy of the child will therefore involve trying to identify the major cause of ADHD through enquiring from the guardian of the child. This will help to establish whether the guardian have played a role in the worsening of the child condition. The next step will involve trying to indentify some of the negative thinking exhibited by the child. In this case I will try to enquire some of the behavioural responses in certain situation. After indentifying the situation where the child demonstrates in accurate thinking, the next step will involve trying to challenge the negative or the in accurate thinking. In relation to this I will aim in boosting the self-esteem of the child to enable the child develop a positive thinking
- One of the major risks with regard to the use of the method is the fact that thinking is just one part of human functioning and hence need to concentrate on broader issues. In this case in order to deal with this risk I will therefore ensure that besides helping the child develop positive thinking I will also talk to the guardians and explain to them their role in supporting the child. This can help to ensure that the guardian of the child also play a role cogitative therapy. Moreover i will also encourage the child to try discovering some of the cognitive distortion that he or she might be facing.

After diagnosing the cause of the condition I was also able to demonstrate my technical skill in the treatment of the condition. Considering the cognitive therapy it is evident it can help to ensure that the child develops self esteem and hence ensure that regain they are able to recover from the condition.
- Ability to work as team
