Arab American Culture
For the American Arabs the foundation of its culture lies on food as well as family. Family which is mostly extended forms the basis of the most significant economical and social institution while food is an additional fundamental component of their cultural identity (Shora, 2009). The most important thing that I hope to establish is the rationale behind the high religious to all the American Arabs cultural aspects. Despite the fact that the culture is reach in modernity, technological advances, economic, social as well as political development cultural governance by deep religious law makes this culture an interesting study in support.
The two most interesting thing that I hope on establishing after further research into the culture is the role of gender, customs and dressing code. Arabs modesty laws are highly respected with their code of dressing where women are required to completely cover their bodies using Abaya. The culture in this matter lies on the ability of the community to sustain their beliefs and customs even with the rise of modernity. Some aspects that may seem to be important to the group are religious laws, dressing code and gender roles and particularly for women.
Arabs are well established in America and therefore it would be easy to access them. The main respondents of the study will be Arabs students who are currently attending school in American and in particular at college or university institutions. The ethnography technique that will be used in the study will be the use of questionnaires and interviews. This is to ensure that accurate, reliable and maximum data is acquired to justify the findings of the study. In addition the technique is quick and less expensive in gathering information.
