There are 2 parts to this assignment.
Part 1: You will locate a current event, following the directions below. It is very important that you follow these directions as your grade will based on this.  (30 points.)
Part 2: You will comment on another student's post in 75 words or more. (10 points)

For this assignment, locate a current event - a news or other article not more than 6 months old, regarding intellectual property material.

Be sure to follow these directions:
1. Word Count: 1 page, single spaced.
2. Date of Current Event: Must be within the past 6 months.
3. Source: From what source did you obtain the event? The source must be credible and properly cited using APA Manual 6th Ed.
4. Topic: What is the legal topic of your current event? The topic must be related the intellectual property issues. Be sure that your article thoroughly addresses the topic. If you need to look at additional sources or articles to properly address your current event, include those sources/articles in your assignments.
5. Content: In paragraph format discuss the article and how it relates to the material we have covered on intellectual property. Make sure you use your own words. Please don’t quote information from the current event. You only use quotations when information cannot be properly conveyed without doing so and that is rare. Discuss the following:
a. Identify the important (relevant) facts.
b. State how the issue in the current event applies to the material we have covered.
c. Point out the facts for the issue.
d. Point out the facts against the issue.
e. Discuss any conclusions identified in the current event or that you drew as a result of reading the current event.
f. Law: Identify the applicable law associated with the current event.
g. Analysis: What happened in the article that presented a legal issue.
h. Viewpoints: Identify and discuss
i. Fallacies/oversimplifications/errors and/or distortions
j. State whether you agree or disagree with the current event and explain the reasoning for your position
