A course objective is to demonstrate the real world application of sociology. This assignment helps to achieve that intention. You are to find an article in the popular press that relates to this class. This includes any newspaper (Press Gazette, USA Today), magazine (Cosmo, Sports Illustrated), or such. You can find an article on-line or a hard copy that you scan in.

    After you have selected the “article”, summarize what you think the main points are. Just a few sentences is fine. Next, find the portion of the book that applies to the article. Summarize how the article relates to the content in your text. This is also an opportunity to use your critical thinking skills (Another objective for this class). If you find an article that is controversial, how did the article make you feel? What is your position on the topic and why? Did the article misrepresent the issue??

You should have two paragraphs when you are done (one to summarize the article and one to apply it to the text).
