Econ Statement of the Purpose
A Masters in Economics forms part of my career investment that aims at achieving career growth and development. My social and education background has instilled a business economics mindset in me and has formed my passion in this field. My passion is driven by the following factors
- A desire to understand Economics as a whole
- Upon finishing my undergraduate degree, I still felt the need to improve on my skills so as to fill complete
- To understand about I am planning to apply for this Masters degree
- To have some time for independent study on economics
As a Business Economic graduate, the Economic Masters degree will play an important role in polishing my career and increasing my competencies. A major reason for pursuing Masters of Arts in Economics is to become equipped with best skills and knowledge that will improve my ability to serve the need for a terminal graduate degree for a professional economist. Therefore, I will be able to uptake the most sensitive roles either in private or public sector and institutions ‘economic departments. I also aim at gaining more understanding on analysis of economic theories and critical appraisal of economic quantitative methods. Hence pursuing Masters in a course that relates to these aspects is very vital in my set long term career goal.
My plan for embarking in the masters’ degree is informed by my desire to improve on my knowledge in business economics. In addition, I have acquired vast experience as a professional through taking various internship programs in several organizations and was able to achieve positive results in each. Working in these organizations has increased my knowledge in economic and real business environment. Therefore, pursuing Masters in the related course is of is very important in preparing me for managerial positions in a real business environment over diverse industries and fields.
The University of South Carolina has a very good reputation in providing excellent programs in academic research and co-curricular activities in the whole of United States of America and even in the international education arena. The university has many facilities and Department of Economics is also well equipped to enable provision of ICT programs that facilitates the integration of prevailing economic trends and concepts (University of Southern California, (n.d). As a leaner, this will offer me a competitive advantage in the labor market, an opportunity that will enable me to apply the learnt economic concepts. With all these resources and endowment in the institution, students, especially those with the Masters of Arts in Economics can be able to maneuver through the job market and even predict the future of the world, hence cope up well with the challenges that may arise in the field of economics.
My knowledge in technical application of economic concepts and the courses that I will learn during my time in USC such as Microeconomics Analysis and Policy, Mathematical approaches in Dynamic Economics, will serve as a fundamental pillar on my professional career. In addition, by learning through Econ 523, I will better understand how economics have developed over time and as a result be able to predict economic trends that are bound to happen. Having a strong academic background on business and economics has always enhanced my resolve to gain the highest knowledge and experience in economics
