Citizen Kane Movie (1941)
Citizen Kane is a dramatic film which was produced in 1941 in America. The movie was directed, co-written and starred Welles Orson. This was Orson’s initial aspect film. The film’s story is the general examination of the existence and the legacy of the character Kane foster Charles. This character was acted by Welles the character that was grounded on the personal life of Welles and the American tycoon as well as William Hearst an American magnate newspaper (Orson, 38:14). The career of Kane in publishing environment is generated on the thoughts of social services but with time the thoughts evolved into power pursuit which was ruthless. The story is presented in narration of flashbacks and is generally told through newsreel research reporter who was seeking to generate solutions to the mysteries of magnate’s newspaper.
Foster Kane was sent away by his mother when he was only eight and the abrupt separation kept from developing needy and aggressive behaviors which are expected in a pre-adolescent (Orson, 18:20). He thus fails to develop a positive sensation association to his own guardian. His guardian Thatcher attempts to provide guidance and discipline to Kane which he rejects. Foster Kane holds great power and weal deal as an adult but he is not emotionally connected to security. Security absence therefore results to the hindrance of development thus influencing authority resentment. He therefore holds no motivation for subjection into the social standards.
On the other hand Jedediah Leland doubts the integrity held by Kane from the early periods of their elation. Leland and Kane are both giddy because Kane is based on their fresh found power at the newspaper, however the ethics of the men diverges very quickly (Naremore, 5). Leland continuously doubts and criticizes Kane but he does his best in maintain their friendship as well as upholding his integrity at work. Susan Kane and Kane fell in love under the pretenses that were both false. However despite the fact that Suzan Kane lost her illusion about Kane, Kane never gained the capability of viewing Susan in a clear way (Naremore, 5). Thompson is the reporter who is fully in charge of establishing the general meaning of the last word developed by Kane which is Rosebud. Jim Kane is Kane’s father and he provides Mary’s emotionless and precise actions contract. Bernstein is the friend to Kane as well as an employee and despite be Jewish he is an exemption of a character who loves Kane in a genuine and unconditionally.
The citizen Kane’s themes involve love, wealth, power, social classes, innocence as well as pride. The power theme is illustrated when Kane attains the age of twenty five and he is given the list of his general fortunes. However despite that he wants is taking over the newspaper so that he can be the voice of those that are poor and powerless (Mulvey, 34). For Foster he is not directed by wealth because all that he desires is the authority of transforming public opinion. Through his quest of developing stories that holds a catching stories. Corruption is depicted by the growing power of Kane foster because he utilizes all types of tactics to change the opinions held by the public. The vanity of Kane hinders him from the vulnerable sections of his personality. The theme of media power is also represented in the film as the media authority is always evolving and through this Kane captures a specific moment in the history of America where the only source of information. In regard to innocence the skeleton that surrounds the search for Rosebud meaning. Although the meaning was never established Welles is kind to reveal it at the film’s end where a friend’s innocence was lost in his childhood. Kane is described as the American dream which has gone sour. The American dream is the general concept which illustrates that everyone that anyone can get in America and be successful if they have the ability to work hard regardless of their classes socially. This thought is grounded on the independence declaration which states that everyone was created equally. The objectives of the American thoughts are illustrated to be social status, worthiness, wealth as well as power. Public as well as private life is another theme was the public actions are seen to be the major determinants of individual’s personal lives (Mulvey, 30).
Citizen Kane film is a movie which is mainly rooted about the search for the meaning of a particular thing which is Rosebud. The film is a piece which helps in understanding the life of Kane and why he was the man that is depicted by the film (Mulvey, 30). The general film is therefore based on viewing the major character through the eyes of other individual’s in the society. This therefore shows that according to the depiction of life from different books like the history of the American dream individuals will always hold a perception towards another. The movie is thus a narrative that is subjective in that all the characters views in regard to Kane are correct (Mulvey, 32).
The American dream is generally footed on social standards, wealth as well as authority. This can thus be based on the current events where individuals are working hard in ensuring that their societal classes are raised. Individuals want to attend good and developed institutions, gain power as well as pride. This is the American dream that is depicted in the film that regardless of an individual attaining wealth the quest of gaining power is growing (Naremore, 5). According to this dreams money is never enough to be happy without power and pride as the main character is obsessed to gain power.
