Abnormal vaginal bleeding and menstrual and pelvic pain are challenges across the entire age spectrum for women, and furthermore is a major source of concern and morbidity for many women. Which is why, the primary care provider should be able to differentiate between ovulatory cycles and anovulatory cycles; and pre or post menopausal conditions. In addition, as primary care provider we should be able to recognize pain of a functional nature from infection or an anatomic lesion for proper management and evaluation; as well as for referral to a gynecologist or emergency department.
