Questions We Can Help to Answer
Instructions:

Re-read case 4-2 in your book, "The Benefits and Harms of High Risk Chemotherapy," on pages 72 - 73. Write a brief summary of the case.  Then, look at the “Five-Step Model” for ethical decision-making found on page 20 of the text.  Using this model, construct answers in essay format to the questions that follow the case below.  I do NOT want “bullet-point” style answers; rather your answers should form a cohesive essay.  Your paper should reflect the fact that you have read and understand the five step model. (You may reference it specifically in your paper if that helps.) Your final answer should be about 2 1/2 pages. 

            Now, answer these questions in essay format (do not answer in “bullet points” or as though each point is unrelated to the next). 

1-At what point in the case do you get a clear sense that something is “wrong”, ethically speaking, or could potentially go wrong?  Explain.

2-What additional information or clarification would you like about Joe Cavanaugh? Situational factors?  Explain.

3-What is the primary ethical problem in the case, as you see it?  (You can use the commentary here, but make sure you cite any part you discuss.) Explain.

4-At this point in the case, what should Dr. Eyberg do? Make sure you back up your recommendation with reasons and argument.
