COMMENTARY PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
OLD TESTAMENT EXEGETICAL COMMENTARY: JONAH – COMMENTARY PART 1
You are now ready to write your exegetical commentary on Jonah chapters 1–2 based on your exegetical outline. The 2 chapters must be equally addressed throughout the commentary. The exegetical outline is the framework for your commentary.
The commentary must describe as clearly and concisely as possible what the passage says and what it meant to the original readers.
You are not writing a sermon; you are writing a commentary. You can produce sermons from the commentary, but the commentary is not sermonic
You will write the application portion of this paper at the end of the assignment.
Read through your sources and highlight insightful comments that you want to include in your commentary.
You will need to be selective so that the commentary is not primarily a string of quotes. If you are using digital media, you can cut and paste these comments into your outline.
You must integrate at least 4 of the 6 scholarly resources from the bibliography assignment in a way that represents balance by having your citations evenly distributed throughout your commentary.
Make sure that you provide proper citations and footnotes for all sources.
Your commentary must resemble a smaller version of the Bible Knowledge Commentary OT or other one-volume, exegetical commentaries that emphasize the paragraph units. This must be 700–750 words and in current Turabian format.
