Paper Instructions:

Use the rubric headings to organize your tasks because you are not writing an essay.  Write what is in the scenario for each particular area (e.g., lack of leadership), what you will do and how will that help for each of these.  We do not have a webinar for this version of the course. 


In task 1, you are given a scenario where you are charged with enhancing operational functionality, based on the given scenario.  So in this task you will be considering approaches and formulating strategies to achieve this.  This should be presented in one Word document and is typically 1.5-3 pages in length.  LZT2 Task 1 Video



Leadership Style/Strategic Approach:  Identify and summarize a leadership style or strategic approach that will help influence the changes you desire to make, using scenario specific examples. 
Organizational Culture Influence:  Discuss how the organizational culture at this company is impacting employee behavior and adherence to company policy.  Again, use scenario specific examples. 
Conflict Management Strategies:  Identify and explain the conflict management strategies or approaches you plan to implement to address conflict at this company.  Again, use details from the scenario to explain and justify these approaches. 
Collaborative Communication and Problem Solving:  Summarize two communication strategies or approaches to help foster engagement and collaboration between stakeholders.  How will you get the stakeholders mentioned in the last paragraph of the scenario collaboratively engaged?  Again, use scenario specific examples to justify how these strategies will work within this group of stakeholders. 


For task 2, you are given a scenario where you are the new CIO and you are working with a group of IT leaders to empower their teams.  The goal is to inspire, motivate, and deliver results.  As an onboarding process, you have been asked to articulate your leadership approach and self-awareness as a leader and remember that you might have to make inferences about what might be going on since the scenario is sparse.  This should be presented in one Word document and is typically 1.5-3 pages in length.  LZT2 Task 2 Video



Innovative Thinking:  Identify and explain two strategies for promoting and encouraging innovative thinking and solutions among team members.  You must include scenario specific examples of how these strategies will be used.  
Building Commitment:  Explain how you will encourage your team of leaders, and how you will help build their commitment and buy-in for overall team success.  You must include examples explaining how your approach will build team success for this company.
Overcoming Obstacles:  Identify two strategies or approaches to deal with obstacles from competing sources of power and influence in this scenario, and use scenario specific examples to explain how these approaches will work. 
Handling Conflict:  Identify two strategies or approaches for handling conflict to maximize results, and explain how these strategies will be used and how they will maximize overall results for the team. 
Communication Barriers:  Identify two strategies or approaches for overcoming communication barriers within the team, and use scenario-specific examples to show how these will work in this scenario
