First Review: Rent Movie

Rent is a musical drama which was first introduced to the public back in the year 2005. However the director is an American known as Chris Columbus whom is an artist as well as an actor. The musical film is in form of rock whereby it has some lyrics by Jonathan Larson. With a clear attention of the music from the drama which takes the major part; it gives a clear story of a clutch of penniless young individuals struggling to earn a living as well as generate their own life. The film was first performed at the New Yolk Workshop Theatre (Larson, 2005).

The musical documentary (Rent) gives a history of youngsters and how they strain even with their lives for at least better lives. The play goes around Mark plus Roger who are the main characters where they are depicted as roommates. A strange tragedy had made Roger traumatise his life where Mark tried harder to capture. However, the group had their consequences over years where they had to deal with AIDS, love loss trying to live a modern day life. In my opinion the documentary is highly able to generate a true as well as powerful story (Larson, 2005).

I was able to maintain my eye contact which is an important aspect in movies since it enables one become more confident and has a great relationship with the characters. The eye contact provided clear information about the entire film as well as a good reflection of the music. In my opinion acting is a good profession for both genders since any kind of profession requires training and skills. It is only in the field of acting where one can easily gain fame plus utilize his talents and ability (Larson, 2005).

Columbus was able to introduce the perfect costumes in the film which easily introduced the theme even before action began. Youngsters dressed in cheap costumes where they seem not to care of their look. Individual like Jesse Martin (Tom Collins) is depicted as a bisexual professor and by the look of his cladding the name suits him right. The sound effects in the film define how rhythm in a piece is placed with time. Dynamics are other modern elements in rock tracks where they both graduates in the volume of sound from loud to soft (Larson, 2005).

As an audience the movies was moving since it had a flow which made it appear a real story. Rogers’s reactions after he realized that he was HIV positive were sympathetic especially when he introduced a new song ‘One Song Glory’. Being a drug addict lead him to other complications made him see the end of life and the audience is able to understand this from the song the introduced ‘Light My Candle’ (Larson, 2005).

In conclusion I would suggest that the play was real in mind since it is realist that most young people struggle in such a manner to earn their daily bread. It is sad that poverty as depicted in the film changes a better generation to a spoiled one which is filled with drugs, diseases plus other evil acts. The rock played in the movies portrays a rotten generation with no future or its hope (Larson, 2005).

Second Review: Wicked Act

The performance was about the society of OZ which celebrates the death one Wicked Witch from the west. They were celebrating since they believe that nobody mourns the wicked. The diseased Wicked Witch was known as Elphaba a daughter to the governor of Munchkinland whom was born unnatural birth. It was believed that when the Governor went to work the wife had an affair with another mother who is believed to have the evil spirits and that’s why the Governor’s daughter was born as green (Marks, 2015).

The setting of the plot is clear and so easy to follow, despite some complicated conditions in the drama, it finally become clear at the end of the play. The wicked person as the citizens of OZ claims does no harm to anyone where-else it is believed that wicked people are the enemy of the society. Many were happy that Elphaba was dead they even called for a celebration where they danced in the streets when Glinda revealed to them the good news of the death. Despite the fact that the play is interesting it makes no sense where the people believe that someone is a witch yet they hardly know a thing about her (Marks, 2015).

During the entire performance every audience in the theater reacted with the performance, some felt sorry for Elphaba who did no harm to anyone yet she was viewed as threat to every individual. The audience was so emotional that they shed tears when the Citizens of OZ celebrated the death of the Wicked (Marks, 2015).

The performance costumes were appropriate for ever actor since they were able to enable the audience figure out the period which the play was set. Every actor personality was easily analyzed by their mode of dressing where it was easier for the audience to determine the nature of the characters. Through costumes in the performance, they symbolically conveyed a certain characteristic and the theme of the entire play (Marks, 2015).

According to Elphaba she did not play her role believably as a witch but rather she is portrayed as a good actor rather than the monster the society believed she was. Considering Glanda  her performance act was so confusing that she was the only individual whom understood Elphaba  despite the fact that even his own dad detested her. She is depicted as a superior character to the end when she proclaims the death of the ‘Wicked Witch’ (Marks, 2015).

According to my views I would categorize the entire play as unrealistic despite the interesting part behind it. Elphaba being born from two side of the world opts not to act and behave like other normal beings; she should be the monster that the Citizens believed she was (Marks, 2015).

WAITING FOR SUPERMAN

Guggenheim starts the film with the ramifications of the act that no teenager should trail behind and how bad it was due to the remarks of George W. Bush and that many of the students are yet to pass on reading and writing levels as they scored between 20% and 35%. Guggenheim goes deeper into the numbers of the student who are good in mathematics, proficient in interpretation and how their marks consequently overwhelm the students when the test are done (Guggenheim , 00:18:26). According to Guggenheim the average mean of a charter school was 5.2 lower than that of a non-charter school mean which after the adjustment of different students character the mean difference was 4.2 which was statistically significant. As a way of highlighting the difference, Guggenheim points out the dropout rates in high schools and the America ranking among other states. Among 30 countries Guggenheim says that ranks on 25th position in mathematics and 21st in science which is a worrying trend. .The demonstration by Guggenheim for the viewers displays the pressure of being capable of having their children attend schools that will change their future rather than have the future determined by a district school. Even though the creator of the film did not bring into perspective the achieved progress in district schools and how students in charter schools are proficient in the same subject Guggenheim is able to focus on the achievements of the students entering in college and the graduation rates. Guggenheim also introduces Roosevelt High School in which he notes that only 3 out of 100 students graduated with the necessary classes for the fourth year and there was an overall of 57% of students who graduated (Guggenheim, 21:03).

Throughout the film Geoffrey Canada, the speaker of the film shares the views that superman did not exist and broke his heart but did inspire him to devote his life to helping the underprivileged. Guggenheim introduces the perpetuating problem of the educational system with what “good schools” is (Guggenheim, 10:53). Canada has been used as a strategy by Guggenheim to be able to capture the viewers because he is addressing the issue they have an interest in. in the film Canada notes that if he attended Morris High School in the south Bronx he would not have been successful as it lacked driving force. In order to strengthen Guggenheim argument of the ailing education system, Canada stressed out that the reason behind the failing system was as a result of no one was willing to take the responsibility including all the presidents.  To prove this theory an interview with Esparza’s mother proved Guggenheim and Canada right that no one was responsible (Guggenheim, 13:26). Guggenheim resulted to Canada due to his influential role that he plays as a leader who is very passionate and advocates for education reforms. Due to his strong character that most American’s can relate to Guggenheim is able to command a large number of people on believing that the American education system adequate reforms. Canada who has served as a president of the Harlem Children’s zone is looked upon many as he has extensive knowledge and is regarded as the most influential people in the world. His national leadership model has enabled Guggenheim to capture the attention of many because Canada can be identified by the people who are experiencing the distressed neighborhoods that Canada himself grew in. Guggenheim and Canada have shared values as they have the same interest of the public education system of Americans compared to that of charter institutions. Moreover, he addresses the dropout factories which the audience could relate to as well as Canada as he experienced the same.

At the end of the film Guggenheim places the views in the same shoes as the five children in the lottery so that they can share the same disappointment with the children who have the hope of joining charter schools (Guggenheim, 1:29:40). By this, he capitalizes on the hope and the fears of these families. The disappointment evokes emotion not only to the students but the parents and the viewers as well due to the inability to give them a proper education that can have a positive impact on their lives. The countdown in the lottery exerts more pressure and hope to the students and shows how difficult it is four out of the five students are denied a chance to enroll in charter schools (Guggenheim, 01:35:16). This means that right decisions should be made so that the students of tomorrow may have a future.  While Guggenheim focuses on the melodrama the viewers feel that they are emotionally manipulated as children have been maliciously deceived by putting their unrestricted faith in private schools which they had hoped to join only to be turned away.

Conclusion

Guggenheim has been able to patronize the audience by signifying that matters of learning are complicated but now the answers are available. By excluding a vast majority of teacher’s parents and students he has been able to portray a negative side of the district schools in America education system. The right decision should be made so that even the public schools can shape the future of their students by also encouraging parents to be part of their children education system rather than viewing them as part of a broken system as it would be precious time lost waiting.

Movie and Game violence

Thesis statement

The Matrix video game as I watched during my adulthood has had many fans since it was founded on March 31, 1999.  The violent video game lies on the technical model that we are mainly shown by many computer packages. The computer program permits everybody in the matrix to do anything they wish to do. In the first opening in the movie, it displays trinity skipping across buildings that are disconnected by huge streets in a town with many people.

The game is against morals as if you pay attention to it; one can see how it is out of the important decisions based on moral.  For instance, Neo could have taken the red or the blue pill in the game, this explains why we are connected to the moral decisions in the games that we are playing and not all the decisions that we make seem than others. This example is completely opposite of moral range although they have their own effects on the personal moral status more than they have on the personal opinions. The game focuses mainly on the moral of value mainly on the decision between the red and the blue pill. According to Neo, the decision was so easy; his main life aim was to discover what the Matrix is thus he had to choose the red pill (Wachowski, 6).

To Cypher, decision to his is more complicated.  It is possible to select the red pill when one is not aware of the later complications. Cypher has already known the truth and he regrets of making a bad choice while Neo become the champion. Everyone would like to become a hero, but the important thing to focus is what to do if you get yourself in Cypher’s condition.  We have to first forget the battle with the computers and think about how the world would be if it was the sort of the Matrix, would we live in the real it? How would we answer the question based on how much people value pleasure than truth?  All matters are pleasure but truth is valuable on its own. Another main question on moral is about the impartiality of the judgmental values (Wachowski.76).

At the end Smith asks Neo why and what is the reason behind the Mr. Anderson fighting.  Smith is eager to whether he is fighting for freedom, peace, love or truth. Smith fights the vales that the persons see as important in that they claim that they are man-made creations, like the matrix itself.  Neo does not want to put Smith in the battle but he fights due to his own choice. I turn to be a moral non- objectivist and agree with Smith claiming that there is no objective truth that is based on the decisions of value, right or mistaken. It is wrong to use the Matrix to betray people or mislead them against their will (Wachowski, 77).

The video game is less effective as it has many displays of the real and the fantastic which are found in it.  In the fiction movie, the matrix, its main characters are incorporeal computer programs that are designed on a computerized way.  They are so much in the strange world than what they are not even aware that they are acting as computer programs in an imitation.  Their bodies are live and are kept deep under the earth which had been destroyed as part as a single holocaust. In the video game, children and the adults are put in huge detailed imitations such as virtual world where they can travel on an unknown landscape or hunt down and kill their enemies. The other reason as to why the video game is less effective is the flipping of its sequels (Christy, 26).

Despite the fact that the game has its success in the cultural success, the two sequels were green lit.  All the characters are brought back by the Wachowski’s but when the Revolutions’ acclaims ended their rolling, the sequence was seen as a disappointment. It is true that the sequels has their great moment but the whole game and the complicated expansion of the domain left most of it fans with questions and answers.  What made it not effective is that the series failed to continue its motion as shown first in the film and that the main reason as to why the matrix follow-ups tumbledown the agreement (Christy, 28).

The content would be positively affected if the work was censored.  It could have a huge special effect and a brooding suspicion, character, conversation and consistency. The game challenges what are real and the part of the actual reality of the cyber so that it turns up confusing the fans and the characters in the movie.  It could also been changed as it is connected to violence and the linguistics used so that most of the teenagers who are now begging to see it handle it without fear and problem. It was not censored; it is an action movie that is greater for the teenagers.  Despite many fights and shootings, there is no blood shed and nothing graphic is shown in it (Christy, 64)

12 Years a Slave

This movie is an adaptation of the life story of Solomon Northup, a black American born free in New York but was later kidnapped , taken to the South and was sold to the owner of a plantation in Louisiana in 1841. The movie starts with Solomon already enslaved and busy working on a plantation. It shows a series of flashbacks shifting the story to the earlier time when Solomon was living with his family in New York (Steve, 2013). Solomon accepts of playing violin in a circus for two white men. While the three were enjoying a civilized night out, sealing their companionship with heaps of food, wine and unstated conviction. Solomon on waking up the next morning discovers that he has been sold.

The story about Solomon is a representation of all marginalized people as well as the American past and present. The movie shows how slaves were ill treated by their masters since they had no power. Solomon was born in freedom while New York, despite the fact that he was deprived certain as an African American for example right to vote . However he was free to a certain extent because he could enjoy outings with his family which was not the case while he was in captivity. Therefore, in conclusion, the movie presents the marginalized group of persons. In this case, the movie shows the state of African Americans who were treated as objects of sale by their masters the whites (Steve, 2013). This shows a clear distinction and marginalization between African Americans and whites, where they ill treated African Americans as commodities to be sold in order to serve as servants in the plantations.

My Darling Clementine (John Ford, 1946)

The film is directed by John Ford and it opens with four brothers who walk in California with a herd of cattle. On their way, Wyatt meets the  family of Clantons  and the family asks to but the  herd of cattle  since they will be stole  as they arrives in California (Eyman & Duncan, 2004). Wyatt and his brothers feel discouraged by being threatened. During the evening, Wyatt and his brothers moves in Tombstone and as they returns back they finds that cattle are stolen and young brother is killed. Wyatt and his brothers decide to wait for the town’s Marshall to deal with the case. However, in Tombstone, civilization is less valued as the town Marshall fails to take the case seriously (Eyman & Duncan, 2004).Wyatt acts against the law and punishes the Marshal for violating the law.  Wyatt demonstrates that he is courage’s, brave and law-abiding when he fights. The film portrays binary opposition between the two families.

Wyatt was an outlaw hero as he was willing to take the public duties. He was interested with doing the right things with respect to the law and expecting everybody to follow the law (Ray, 1985). He noticed that the government was not reinforcing peace, respect and civil order when the law representatives in Tombstone failed take the matter seriously. The incident led to the Gunfight and it symbolizes that the violence as a confrontation between the law and society. Wyatt viewed the law as an oppressor and that is the reason why he used the federal badges to fight for individualism (Ray, 1985). The point shows that he was an outlaw hero because by fighting and being brave, he wanted to find justice and to maintain civil order. Wyatt’s actions benefit the society and his reactions are interconnected with a revenge to maintain justice. Following that Clanton had decided to kill the Earp brothers, they participating in the game at the Occidental Saloon (Ray, 1985). The town Marshall warned them not to cause trouble but Earp’s brothers were courageous in that they looked for Ike and hit him on the head. According to Ford, Earp faces tension but he demonstrates his heroic character and precarious balance in the community. He is a person who was controlled by the inner dignity to demonstrate the value system and to create reconciliation in the community.

The film has contradictory values between Wyatt and Virgil Earp, and the former tries to eliminate the contradiction and maintain peace in the community. Virgil, who is the town Marshal confronts the outlaw brothers and kills Clanton and Mc Laury. In this episode, Wyatt is portrayed as the outlaw hero and a central lawman. The film shows that the People in Western community experiences violence from their rivals and the war fight rises due to lack of socio order. The timeline of the film portrays the Western fate during the World War II (Eyman & Duncan, 2004). It shows that Western is pitiless to outlaw heroes who knows the right things and struggles to maintain justice. Wyatt is a character who struggles to maintain the moral but there is an official hero who focuses on traditional beliefs and violates the law. The difference between the heroic nature leads to racial variance in racial hierarchy. Wyatt seeks justice for individual sacrifice though the town Marshall fails to take the matter seriously. His violence acts play a key role in the Western culture as it creates the new American order (Eyman & Duncan, 2004). It is important to note that the classical Western is not against femininity but rather it tries to maintain justice.

Ascent of money

The video gives a description of the influence of money development and the development of financials in the economies of the world and impacts on people’s lives. The film has four parts which focusing their discussion on the events and history which has been experienced in the context of money.

In part one, we learnt about the history of the initial phase in ascent of money which involved the creation of banks. The film explains that before the creation of the banks, there had to be a discovery on the true value of money. Among the Spanish, it was believed that the value of money was passed on in the metal coins and all that they had to do to become richer was to bring more silver and gold coins from the American colonies. Instead of making the Spain richer, the influx only increased prices. They failed to notice that money is worth only as much as other people are willing to give in exchange. We learn that the value of money is only as the trust people have its worth. The film also touches on interest an usuries and how early lenders of money were hated due to it. The Medici called money charged on money commission for the purpose of currency changing services. They succeeded in banking because of diversifying lending, hence risks and could be able o charge less interests (Mystic Rebel, 2013).

In the second part, the film discusses the bonds and the reason why they matter. It describes the first bonds as having been issued by the Italians so as they could finance their wars. From that moment, the decision on wars was made not only in battle field but also on financial market. Rothschild are described as powerful family from France who traded gold in various places like Paris, London and Rome and took advantage of price differences to make money though buying and selling. During the Civil War, the Southern States collected money using bonds whose security was cotton. Currently the bonds are still sold by the states to banks, private individuals and other nations.  The film asserts that specific occurrences such as battles, big purchases or sales and speculations influence the bond prices. The film touches on aristocracy which collapsed due to borrowing more than income. We learn that the world is not as safe as it appears as shown at the beginning of World War I (Mystic Rebel, 2013).

The third part explores issue of stock market and stocks .We learn that are also prone to the cycles of boom and bust like bonds. The first bubble burst was a creation of John Law. Another issue explained is that of Enron who was a contributor the George W. Bush led government. The Enron company had its shares were increasing in values but their dirty dealings brought the firm down. The firm cooked their books so that they appeared as making profits while in fact they were loss was greater. The film asserts that two of the firm’s directors were charged with cases of frauds. Fergusson advised that stock markets should trace a line which is not similar to Andes pick (Mystic Rebel, 2013).

In the fourth part, the film delves into how by the start of 21st century, the systems of insurance, credit, stock markets and bond trading had crossed all national boundaries and resulted to a worldwide economic system. This opened the chance of unprecedented growth and also global instability in case of a downturn in a single nation. This is seen in Great Depression following which the New Deal by United States lead to a democracy of property owning. Rampant inflation experienced in 1970s made government to deregulate interest rate culminating in 1980s massive scandals. Ferguson suggests that that the answer to economic crises would be found in ascent of money history (Mystic Rebel, 2013). This shows the process in which money has changed the history especially when it comes to financial systems and global economic crises.

Summary

Costa Gavarass Z was a movie that took many people by surprise. This is because no one knew that it was an assassination film in Greece leader who had a secret in the organization and as a result of this the end was experienced with a coup that led to bloodshed. That was not expected of the film as a result of its advertisement that named it a love thriller. The narrative by the author Erdrich identifies the movie success as it was able to expose the hypocrites (Erdrich, 2008). In her own life, her parents were not happy with her being a wrestling cheerleader based on the notion that it would change her from what they are used to be though she had changed with time as a result of the exposure she got in life such as hunting with her father. After reviewing the movie she got in an argument with Vincent as to who was responsible for changing letters on the marquee. According to Erdrich, their boss was exploiting them while according to Vincent their boss was just a fair man who made good money (Erdrich, 2008).

The author considers the movie as an eye opener of the political mildew as there was much to learn from. This meant fighting for the truth and a just working environment that led them to take sides. She was against Vincent who told on her to the boss (Erdrich, 2008). This led to a confrontation as there was no pretense in solidarity. Erdrich accused Vincent of stealing and keeping good the items left by the audience. The downfall of the theater made the two think straight as they stood in the dark marquee as they both felt hurt.  There were many revolutions but her first view of the world was terribly exotic, dangerous and passionate as well.

Reply discussion on tropes

Discussion 1 Ryan

Dumb and Dumber is a movie that is characterized by many tropes but the most iconic one are the Irony and the exaggerated tropes (Greven, 276). This is true because how could Lloyd storm the airport security in the 9/ 11 world and enduring the pain of almost getting killed just to give his dream girl a briefcase. The Hangover movie is filled with irony and hilarious that the tropes portray as the character of Leslie can be considered to be a hilarious one or the most annoying one in the trilogy (Wachtel, 45).

Discussion 2 Brandon

The Lego movie can be considered as the funny pronunciation and stupid hero as in the case of Batman who is hugely egotistical. The film has its scene in the animated city that is entirely built on bricks. The Yes Man movie shows moral luck and reckless gun usage as well as a bossy feeling exhibited by the boss who after all is not the best. It is true to say that there is an overused trope in the movie of the big kiss which is ironic and strategically shown in the movie that it will last forever. Fargo was characterized by criminals and lies making the movie more funny, exciting and hence its success (Luhr, 98).

Yes, man uses similar devices that can be most confused with that of comedy hoaxsters. This is because their tropes are similar in that they are comic films that have the bossy act that is generally not the best but they are given the chance to feel so as they are normally given the respect despite their occasional behaviors that do not qualify them.

Tropes

South Park is an animated television comedy for adults. The criticism and the controversy of the film, as well as its success, have brought about the tropes in the television comedy film. To begin with, Brent and Peggy argue that the film is not dedicated to children as the producer of the film says (Arp, 17). This is because of there is a general toilet humor that is not suitable for young viewers as there is a negative description of the liberal causes as well as a comic effect on religion that has generated controversy causing debate.  They argue that it is dangerous for democracy. There are tropes such as activists who have protested how Jesus Christ has been portrayed in the Christianity venture (Arp, 77). Stone who is one of the activists says that those parents who disapprove the television film to their kids do not have social tact and have an idyllic vision.

Duck soup is a movie that has greatly impacted the American culture. According to Irving Thalberg is that it is full of funny gags that have nothing to root for. Groucho himself looks for the significance of the movie and the personal insult it had that would hurt the nation and ruin the city reputation (Bothwell, 32). According to Danel, the movie is at par as a comedy with the likes of Dr. Strangelove.

A Silly reason for the way is a movie that has it trope paired with an Aesop on the consideration of life and death and the conflicting differences that have been founded on cultural practices and the outsider’s perspective (Parker, 46). On the other hand, the protagonists seem to persuade the pastry, aliens and elves chefs that the differences can be reconciled and be accepted.

The film shares similar tropes though with differences as there those that brings out the best part of the movie and the television film as there are those that criticize the whole plot. Duck soup and a Silly reason for way are similar as they establish a conflict between the people from a comedy view (Bothwell, 55). Barbara view on a Silly reason for way forms a trivial dispute as the articulated plot is laughable at the war grows out of proportion for a reason that can be tolerable. So far the tropes in other films and movie are similar as they have common characteristics but they are individually different.

There is a common device between Dr. Strangelove and the Duck Soup. Their tropes are the same. Before watching the other film I realized that they have similar tropes due to the way the plot is articulated (Hirschbein, 100). The critical response to the film has remained funny where it can be used as a razor- sharp into today’s filming. There is a universal acclaim to the film as a comedic film that can be argued as the best political artier of all time in comparison to south park that was seen as a threat to democracy.

Fargo being a movie that was based on a true strong is no different from the other movie and television show as the tropes will have different views about it whether by supporting it or criticizing it. Before the looking out for the tropes in the TV tropes website there is that picture that is being portrayed by the plot that insinuates that the tropes may be similar in a way (Luhr, 98). This is because of the universal acclaim of conflict with dark humor and unusual twists such as it is in the Silly Reason for War (Parker, 47)

Editing Time and Space in Movie Making

Citizen Kane (1941)

The manipulation of time and space in the film of citizen cane is different from that of Pulp Fiction in that it considers formal elements of film technique such as Mise-en-scene where it essentially involves a costume, setting and makeup staging and lighting (Belton, 46). The very important scene that happens in front of the camera appears in the final shot of the film. The setting function of the film has highlighted the key aspect of Kane’s life compared to Pulp Fiction that is seen to intersect in many venues (Belton, 37).

Cinematography has been used in the process of capturing the moving images and the manipulation of such images (Belton, 38). The view is able to see the fore, mid and the background of the shots due to the sharp focus. Editing has coordinated the shot with another ad expose more of them in a series of continuation in the length f the film. They are combined where some are cut, fade, dissolved or even wiped out in order to create simultaneous action. The sound has had a great role in the film. There has been speech, music, and some noise as a result of the sound effect. Welles used both the diegetic and nondigetic sounds that created a great effect (Belton, 55).

Pulp Fiction (1994)

The idea of film manipulation of time and space has been well developed in Pulp Fiction. This is because the editor has been able to create something in the movie that cannot be filmed by the use of various techniques in order to show the change of time visibly. These techniques give the editor a chance to give a different effect and be able to create something totally different to the film. The use of technique shows people an object change or the environment of an object change of a certain period of time such as a person acting in the film such as getting older or younger(Belton, 57).

The film of Pulp Fiction is a good example of manipulation of time and space. Quentin Tarantino directed an iconic film that was filled with humor and violence as well as a nonlinear storyline. The art of the techniques is used to connect the interconnecting storylines of the mobster, fringe players, the mysterious briefcase and the small criminals (Belton, 46). This has presented the film in a chronological manner as a result of its unconventional structure, the extensive used of homage and the pictures of self-reflexity. The holdup stage dinner starts the film in where the technique of time and space is used in order to pick up the story of Jules, Vincent, and Butch (Belton, 32).

The Sunset Boulevard (1950)

The film has embraced the technique of manipulation of time and space through the exploration of possible paradoxes that might happen if the events of the past were changed. The manipulation of time has existed in the film as it has been placed upon humankind repeatedly where in most cases the time twisters are from considered to be from the source outside the current world through the manipulation of facts and the reality in order to suit the best purpose of the film (Chesbrough, 1:33). The sunset Boulevard has been conceptualized through time in order to have large effects through the stylistic practices that have been designed essentially in the filmmaking process.

Freedom of speech in the university

Over the years there has been an increase in the youth voters’ turnout during elections but this has been changing as the year’s progress. With the current trend, the expected number of youths that will vote in the election to come in the future will be low. This has been attributed to so many factors but the main factor that is limiting the youths from engaging in speech is that they are not adequately supported by the institutions of learning where they do their learning. This paper, therefore, will present and discuss on the repression of free speech by the universities and youths institutions of learning.

Following the concerns that have been raised by the element of political correctness, the universities have enacted stern speech codes with an aim of well intent for their students. However, it is quite evident that these codes violate the constitutional assurance of the freedom of speech. The more the colleges implement the strict speech codes with an intention of enforcing good manners, the more they limit the aspect of free expression hence inhibiting the open discussions, debates, and protest of sensitive social and controversial issues (Lukianoff 1).

The constitution and the law of the state restrict these institutions from limiting the non-disruptive free speech and expression. This applies only to the public institutions and thus leaving the private institutions with the freedom to establish and enforce their own rules thus resulting in repression of speech among the youth (Lukianoff 1).

In conclusion, civility is a nice thing in the society and among the youth. However, limiting the freedom of speech among the youth is not the only solution to bring about political correctness. It is thus essential to understand that, in efforts to teach the youths to navigate democracy, the youths will be able to engage freely with other citizens and this will force them to think before even speaking out what is in their minds and thus good manners will be enhanced.

This character was acted by Welles the character that was grounded on the personal life of Welles and the American tycoon as well as William Hearst an American magnate newspaper (Orson, 38:14). The career of Kane in publishing environment is generated on the thoughts of social services but with time the thoughts evolved into power pursuit which was ruthless. The story is presented in narration of flashbacks and is generally told through newsreel research reporter who was seeking to generate solutions to the mysteries of magnate’s newspaper.

Foster Kane was sent away by his mother when he was only eight and the abrupt separation kept from developing needy and aggressive behaviors which are expected in a pre-adolescent (Orson, 18:20). He thus fails to develop a positive sensation association to his own guardian.  His guardian Thatcher attempts to provide guidance and discipline to Kane which he rejects.  Foster Kane holds great power and weal deal as an adult but he is not emotionally connected to security. Security absence therefore results to the hindrance of development thus influencing authority resentment. He therefore holds no motivation for subjection into the social standards.

On the other hand Jedediah Leland doubts the integrity held by Kane from the early periods of their elation. Leland and Kane are both giddy because Kane is based on their fresh found power at the newspaper, however the ethics of the men diverges very quickly (Naremore, 5).  Leland continuously doubts and criticizes Kane but he does his best in maintain their friendship as well as upholding his integrity at work. Susan Kane and Kane fell in love under the pretenses that were both false. However despite the fact that Suzan Kane lost her illusion about Kane, Kane never gained the capability of viewing Susan in a clear way (Naremore, 5).  Thompson is the reporter who is fully in charge of establishing the general meaning of the last word developed by Kane which is Rosebud. Jim Kane is Kane’s father and he provides Mary’s emotionless and precise actions contract. The first wife to Kane is President Monroe’s niece and despite the fact that Emily was married based on her connection to the president she is loved genuinely by Kane. Bernstein is the friend to Kane as well as an employee and despite be Jewish he is an exemption of a character who loves Kane in a genuine and unconditionally.

The citizen Kane’s themes involve love, wealth, power, social classes, innocence as well as pride. The power theme is illustrated when Kane attains the age of twenty five and he is given the list of his general fortunes. However despite that he wants is taking over the newspaper so that he can be the voice of those that are poor and powerless (Mulvey, 34). For Foster he is not directed by wealth because all that he desires is the authority of transforming public opinion.  Through his quest of developing stories that holds a catching stories. Corruption is depicted by the growing power of Kane foster because he utilizes all types of tactics to change the opinions held by the public.  The vanity of Kane hinders him from the vulnerable sections of his personality. The theme of media power is also represented in the film as the media authority is always evolving and through this Kane captures a specific moment in the history of America where the only source of information.  In regard to innocence the skeleton that surrounds the search for Rosebud meaning.  Although the meaning was never established Welles is kind to reveal it at the film’s end where a friend’s innocence was lost in his childhood. Kane is described as the American dream which has gone sour.  The American dream is the general concept which illustrates that everyone that anyone can get in America and be successful if they have the ability to work hard regardless of their classes socially.  This thought is grounded on the independence declaration which states that everyone was created equally. The objectives of the American thoughts are illustrated to be social status, worthiness, wealth as well as power. Public as well as private life is another theme was the public actions are seen to be the major determinants of individual’s personal lives (Mulvey, 30).

Citizen Kane film is a movie which is mainly rooted about the search for the meaning of a particular thing which is Rosebud. The film is a piece which helps in understanding the life of Kane and why he was the man that is depicted by the film (Mulvey, 30).  The general film is therefore based on viewing the major character through the eyes of other individual’s in the society.  This therefore shows that according to the depiction of life from different books like the history of the American dream individuals will always hold a perception towards another.  The movie is thus a narrative that is subjective in that all the characters views in regard to Kane are correct (Mulvey, 32).

The American dream is generally footed on social standards, wealth as well as authority. This can thus be based on the current events where individuals are working hard in ensuring that their societal classes are raised. Individuals want to attend good and developed institutions, gain power as well as pride. This is the American dream that is depicted in the film that regardless of an individual attaining wealth the quest of gaining power is growing (Naremore, 5).  According to this dreams money is never enough to be happy without power and pride as the main character is obsessed to gain power.
