Note on Primary Assignments:
Each week you will submit a Primary Assignment. In many weeks, you can choose between two options for this assignment. Before you opt for which assignment option to answer, you will want to consider which option affords you the best opportunity to demonstrate learning based upon the assigned course materials. All Primary Assignments include a thesis statement, a bibliography (APA style), and the use and citation of three assigned reading articles from the current week and one assigned reading article from a previous week.

This week we read about character and making moral choices. One form of moral decision making is utilitarianism, and another is Kant’s ethical imperative. Historical exposés find that many who are held up as role models were in reality as fallible as the rest of us including Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King.

For your assignment, this week, reconcile the reality that often moral leaders were also flawed. Should we set aside their moral failings and focus on the immense positive contributions they made?

Operational Assignment Details:

This assignment is due on Sunday at 10 p.m. CST. Your substantive comments are due the following Tuesday at 10 p.m. CST. Each journal entry should be a minimum of 300 words. Your journal entry narrative is subjective and can be written in the first person. Citations are not required, but the inclusion of the assigned reading articles is strongly encouraged. Be sure to proofread your entry and use the Grammarly app before posting. Please keep in mind that others will be reading your journal.

Engaged Citizen Hall of Fame
Learning Objective: Applying American Values: You apply the values studied by nominating to the Values and Service “Hall of Fame,” an individual from your personal life who, in your opinion, exemplifies them.

Throughout history, there have been women and men who exhibited exemplary behavior. We often look to famous people as role models and build statues or post plaques in their honor. Life is, however, full of often unheralded lives that have demonstrated positive values and engaged citizenship. Whether it’s Miguel Keith, an 18-year-old Hispanic Marine from Omaha who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery in combat, or the Civil Rights leader and Nebraska Hall of Fame member, Standing Bear, or perhaps someone you know, there are many role models in society.

This week’s assignment is to nominate someone you know to the fictitious, Engaged Citizenship Hall of Fame. For this assignment, consider the values presented in the assigned reading articles from Week 1 through Week 6. Compose an appropriate tribute arguing that this person’s behavior exhibited one or more of the values examined in the course. If possible, include a photograph or some other appropriate image to represent the person you are nominating. Avoid overly hyperbolic or emotive attributes.

Hello there, we are almost at the end of this journey.  Once again, thank you again in advance.  Please read the below in its entirety.

Requesting Chapters 4 and 5 of the Thesis.

Please see the instructions for each chapter.

Chapter IV:  Results  (requesting 8 pages)

This chapter includes a presentation and analysis of the data.  The tone of the subject is purely objective, devoid of assumptions and interpretations.

Following a summary of the research data, Chapter IV should be organized in manner consistent with the research hypotheses:

First:  present data related to the first hypotheses
Second:  Analyze those data to determine whether the first hypotheses can be supported or rejected.  Follow this sequence for each hypotheses (4).
Include table (s) to present quantitative data.  Qualitative data should be summarized, as opposed to verbatim transcriptions.

I think part of Chapter 4 was included in Chapter 3.  I will attached all 3 previous chapters for your recollection.

Chapter V:  Discussion, Conclusions, and Recommendations (requesting 8 pages)

This chapter includes:
(a)    A Discussion of the research thesis hypotheses, including the findings, interpretation of the results, and problems and/or limitations; followed by
(b)    A Conclusion:  What did we find out?  What did we learn?
(c)    Recommendations for changes in policy or practice, future research, or anything else that will direction solutions to the problem (s) that were the focus of the research.

Finally, the professor is telling me that my references are not correctly cited and not in the proper APA format. I am attaching the previous 3 Chapters references (4 pages) as a separate attachment.

Can you please review each reference for correct format?  The professor says he don’t know what references are books or journals because page numbers are not included where they needed to be included for Journals/Periodicals.  I have to know what part of the reference that needs to be italicize.  He said some references are missing the cities and states of publication and the publishing companies.
He will not accept my thesis if the references are not complicated.  Can you please put a B for Book, J for Journal, D for Dissertation and whatever source of reference you may have utilize.

Your work is great but I will hate to fail my thesis because of the references.  Thank you very much.    Look forward to communicating with you over the next 2 plus weeks.

  1. Asking a research question is the starting point for planning a research study. The following is an example of a research question: Are arrest rates related to the race and training of the police officers making arrests? An educated (i.e., theoretically informed) answer to the question is a research hypothesis. An example of a hypothesis is: Police officers who complete cognitive bias training have lower rates of arresting subjects (regardless of the race of the officer), than officers who do not complete cognitive bias training. The purpose of a research study is to answer a research question with verifiable evidence. For this assignment, address the following:

    - Post a crime-related or justice-related question that interests you.
    - Develop a hypothesis by answering your research question.
    - Identify the independent and dependent variables in your hypothesis.
    - Constructively comment on others’ posts. Your comment should not be focused on how interesting a question/hypothesis is, but on whether the question is answerable with systematically collected evidence and whether the hypothesis consists of identifiable variables with a clear expectation of how the variables are related.

    2. Follow the steps below to access data sets and code books. Then, answer the questions in “2a” through “2c”:
    - Download the data sets and codebooks from the Student Resources site linked to the textbook where you click “Data Sets and Codebooks” in the left-hand column. You will then see Data Sets and Codebooks that you can download.

    https://edge.sagepub.com/frankfort8e/student-resources

    - Watch the SPSS tutorial video: Knapp, H. (2017). Descriptive statistics, categorical  [Streaming video]. SAGE Research Methods.

    http://methods.sagepub.com.csuglobal.idm.oclc.org/video/descriptive-statistics-categorical

    - Open the GSS2014A Codebook file. Use “find” to locate the variable named “educ” in the file. Find the answer to the following questions about “educ”:
    a. What question in the survey does this variable refer to? (Find the answer under “Label”.)
    b. What answers are available to this question and what numerical value was assigned to each answer?
    c. What responses are considered “missing values” to this question?

    3. Discuss how the above exercises have increased your knowledge about SPSS.

    Add references page.
Add three separate questions relating to this assignment. Please do not add the questions in the assignment itself, add it separately towards the end of the references page.
    Thank you

I already downloaded the two codebooks for you. See attachments.

The American Community Survey (ACS).  is conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.

https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/

Insert your county and state of residence into the search field located on the upper right-hand side of the ACS home page. You will not only find population statistics, but a wealth of other aggregated demographic information about people residing in your county of residence (e.g., household income, schools, poverty, veterans residing in the county, etc.). Pay attention to the type of information collected and whether the variables are nominal, ordinal, or interval/ratio.

Using the handout (located in Module 1's folder), answer the 12 questions (which pertain to the ACS 2007 census data on the entire U.S. population). Also compare the information discussed in the handout on the general U.S. population with two of the pieces of information you discovered about your county of residence from the ACS website. Your answers should conform to CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.
