I have outlined a list of ideas you may choose from to complete your article reviews.  This list is compiled from the overall topics covered in the text, but you may be more specific in your article search.  For example, you can research "management listening skills" as a narrowly focused topic for a review.
•Organizational Culture
•Nonverbal Messages
•Teamwork
•Business Ethics
•Listening Skills
•Speaking at Work
•Workplace Conflict
•Interviewing Skills
•Verbal Messages
•Interpersonal Relationships
•Diversity in the Workplace
•Leadership/Management Styles

Criteria for evaluating an article for the review:
•The article needs to be at least 1,000 words in length.
•The author needs to be cited along with a description of her/his credentials.
•The author needs to be an expert in the field he/she is writing.
•The article should be recent and relevant to our course.

Once you have read the article, you will complete a review of the article.  The article review should have these three main parts.
1.An APA or MLA formatted citation of the article at the top of the review.
2.A one-page summary of the article that briefly outlines the article in your own words.  Explain what the article discusses without quoting the author(s) word-for-word.
3.A one-page critique of the article which discusses the following four questions: 1.How does the information in this article increase your understanding of the field?
2.What did you learn that was surprising?  Or, what did you learn that you disagree with based on your experience?
3.How could this information impact you as a current or future businessperson?
4.What is your overall opinion of the usefulness of this article?

Your article reviews should follow this format:
•Double-spaced, 12 point font size, Times New Roman or Calibri.
•Exactly two pages in length: one page for the summary and one page for the critique.
•A link to the article should be included.  The link to the article and the APA/MLA citation are not the same thing.  I should be able to cut and paste the link in a browser to access the article.

Fiction Media Analysis
Choose any discrete chunk of fiction media you are interested in analyzing. You could choose a movie, a
season of a TV show, a single episode of a TV show, a novel, a comic book, or some other fiction narrative. You
may also choose to analyze sexuality in audible media, such as music lyrics on a single music album. You can
choose media aimed at kids, teens or adults. The only media that is off-limits are documentaries, other non-fiction
sources, and porn, because in this assignment you will be analyzing the ways that mainstream media give us all
subtle (not overt) messages about sexuality.
Using 500 words or more, analyze the subtle messages about sexuality you find in the chunk of media you chose. Here are some questions you could answer to help you get started with your analysis:
What sexual orientation are characters assumed to have? How are the sex drives of different characters portrayed? Do asexual, 4 bisexual, homosexual, or pansexual characters appear in the media you chose? Are characters’ sexualities portrayed as matching up with stereotypes about people of different genders, ages, races, or classes? Does the media you chose parrot myths about sexuality which you have learned are incorrect based on class material? Is
sexuality portrayed as intersecting with other social institutions, such as family, politics, healthcare systems, employment, religion, education, or some other institution? What does this media subtly teach viewers (or readers or listeners) about their own sexuality and the sexuality of other people? What does the media you viewed teach viewers about the sexual norms of their culture? How do you think the media you viewed would be different if it had been presented in a different time or place globally? Does the media you chose present certain bodies as sexy, others as unsexy, and others as neither? How do the clothing, lighting, and camera angles used for different actors change the viewers’ perception of sexiness? (If analyzing non-visual media, focus on how the creator’s descriptions emphasize sexiness.) How do you think the sexiness of different actors would be portrayed differently if this media was created in a different time or place?

You do not have to answer all of these questions. In Fact, if you simply answer all these questions in order, your paper will probably be disjointed and difficult to read. This list of questions is only to help give you ideas about how to analyze fiction media through the lens of sociology of sexuality

The purpose of a demonstration speech is to help people understand how to do something and reach audience members who are watchers and doers (Verderber, Sellnow & Verderber, 2018).  YouTube is full of “how to” videos that may deem helpful in your understanding how to show a process.  Also, TV shows such as HGTV and Food Network are based on folks showing us how, not just telling us (informative).  Below are links to videos of examples of people demonstrating how to open a jar and how to plant flowers.

“How To Open A Jar” by Rachel Ray (2:07 minutes in length)
"How to Plant Flowers" by Howcast.com (3:01 minutes in length)
During this session, you will be creating a demonstration speech on a topic of your choice. Below is an overview of the required components of this Demonstration Speech assignment. More details on each component along with the submission links are included in this folder.

Topic Selection

First, you will need to select the topic of your demonstration speech. The topic should be something that interests both you and your audience, personally or professionally.

Outline

Next you will create an outline of your speech.

The outline should be comprehensive in all areas to include APA format in-text citation of sources where applied and a complete references list at the bottom.

Presentation

You will deliver an eight to ten (8 - 10) minute demonstration speech. You will use unique visual(s) throughout your speech.  For example, if you are demonstrating how to make a seven-layer dip, you will actually use the supplies and ingredients while you are speaking to show your audience how to make seven-layer dip.

M5A2: Lab: Cyberstalking or Cyberbullying and Laws to Protect Individuals
Introduction

Cyberstalking and cyberbullying are not just terms for today’s youth. They are real and increasing threats online. This is particularly true with social media, social communications, and social networking being done online. Protecting your identity, your privacy, and your data is a requirement for interacting and socializing online.

Instructions

In this lab, you will define cyberstalking and cyberbullying and describe their legal implications, you will identify case studies for cyberstalking and cyberbullying, and you will define the requirements for a law to protect individuals from both of these threats.

Even though cyberstalking might be new, the activity is well understood. Due to how technology changes so quickly, laws specifically tackling cyberstalking are new. In some areas, the laws might not even yet exist. However, the crime is already understood and dealt with by the law enforcement agencies ready to levy new charges.

Police appreciate the similar activity and analogous meaning between cyberstalking and stalking. The principal behaviors involved are harassment, intimidation, and incitement of hatred, etc. No one needs to reinvent a new crime definition, only new laws encompassing those behaviors online, as they sometimes include additional charges such as unauthorized use of a computer, mischief in relation to data, and, in school-age cases, child pornography. Of course, exact nomenclature of charges might vary by state or country, but the described activities are essentially the same.

Step by Step Instructions:

1. Search the term cyberstalking using your favorite search engine, specifically look for the following information on this topic:

    Definition of cyberstalking
    The legal implications of cyberstalking
    A cyberstalking case

2. Search the term cyberbullying using your favorite search engine, specifically look for the following information on this topic:

    Definition of cyberstalking
    The legal implications of cyberstalking
    A cyberstalking case

Deliverables:

Based on your research, your Lab Report File needs to address each of the following questions:

Define cyberstalking and describe the legal implications of cyberstalking an individual.
Define cyberbullying and describe the legal implications of cyberbullying an individual.
Summarize each case study on cyberstalking and cyberbullying in one paragraph.
Define the requirements for a law to protect individuals from cyberstalking or cyberbullying.

This post on March 21st by Starbucks was created as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.  It's purpose is to make customers aware of how its business is going to operate throughout.  With that being the company has shut down its US and Canada cafes, but is letting customers know that select grocery and drive through locations remain open.  This post is an example of how the company operates and stands out.  The post is timely and relevant, and the visuals included are simple and easy on the eyes.  The simple visuals indicate that the information provided on the post are more important as they aren't detailed enough to take away the users attention from the text.  Not to mention that text involved in the graphic is "Times are changing, but we're still here for you" this text as well as the how Starbucks is talking about taking care of its employees and customers is done in a way to humanize the company.  Not only that but the post is rather short and only consists of 58 characters, which also helps to keep a users attention from wandering off.  Which is especially important given that this is a post about a serious situation.  All of which I feel add up to create a sold post that does what it sets out to do pretty well, which in turn makes it something that represents best practices on Facebook at the very least decently as well.

Jeep fulfills several components talked about over the course of the past two modules. They work to showcase the clarity of their brand through brand images which creates a clear image in order to attract a consumer with quality content. In addition, with the creation of daily contest, they can gather likes on top of comments which engages users. By gathering this type of information they are doing a great job of not others working to build a relationship with their online users but gathering consumer insights. It has been great to see that the person working to run the Jeep Facebook page responds to the comments which are left by individuals. Their hashtag #4by4day continues to trend and has become a link back to the Jeep brand. Their overall page works to target their consumers, family members and people that enjoy the outdoors. The Jeep brand as a whole is very cohesive on all forms of social media I have come to find.
