SUPPLEMENTS AND HEALTH

Supplements are taken with the aim of providing the body with nutrients that may not be consumed in the quantities eaten. Supplements are known to contain vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, fiber, and other substance. Due to their nutrients composition, there have been large numbers of the U.S population seeking to take them in order to nourish to their bodies. This has resulted in a number not taking balanced diet because there are supplements that can provide the body with nutrients.  These supplements have clearly shown that they are not anticipated to prevent or treat any disease. The take of supplements has been considered dangerous due to the effects it has on the people and only those with extreme deficiency are recommended to take.

In the video, it is evident to say that a large number of Americans spends a lot of money to buy fish oil products. Due to their demand, they are considered to be the most commonly used dietary supplement. The intention of buying them is driven by the benefits that one is likely to get from them. It is true to say that what they pay for is not what they acquire in the supplement.  There has been extensive use of vitamins, herbs, fat-burning and fish oils supplements. These supplements have been used year in year out.

After a research on the use of the supplements was conducted there were side effects discovered. The major cause of effects of this supplements is because they are not regulated by the federal government which has caused the large usage of this supplements causing adulteration and contamination. There have been occurrences of diseases that are an outcome of tainted vitamins and fat-burning supplements. This has proven to cause extensive liver damage due to the workout supplements used.

Doctors, patients, regulators and industries experts were followed in order to know the basic root of this outbreaks. The research is aimed at looking whether the widespread of the supplements containing vitamin D and which are taken in high doses are of any good than harm. It was found out that the levels of omega-3 fatty acids advertised were lower than that contained in the supplements. It is also true to say that fish oil supplements are prone to be rancid.

It is debatable to say that fish oil supplements are beneficial to cardiovascular health. This is because all the clinical trial that have been conducted have proven that the hearts is not protected from diseases by taking fish oil supplements. It is true to say taking this drugs is a waste of time and resources. Taking of such supplements have only been associated with importance heart function and also promote overall health.

It is true to say that taking of the supplements does not necessarily lead to better health to most people. There are side effects associated with the intake of supplements and hence their intake should be reduced unless one has a problem with deficiency. It is in good faith to say it is better to have a balanced meal other than consuming synthesizes proteins and vitamins. It is also true to say that the supplements are not beneficial as they are made to appear. Lastly, it is upon individuals to take care of their health other than depending on the supplements.

Behavioral Health and Community

The perspective of community behavioral health care has been on an evolving trend from seclusion to community-operated services. In the past, the mentally ill were taken care of in self-contained communities and villages referred to as asylums. Hospitals had a traditional way of offering treatment and they also varied in size. Hospital inception was to offer hope, refuge and treatment. Long ago the mentally ill were kept in almshouses and jails. In those days, the treatment was considered to be humane and compassionate (Bazemore, 2005). The hospitals also offered educational programs to those that lived within the vicinity. Due to the persistence of the mental illness the patients were abandoned by their families which made them be buried in simple graves with little information about the person. These hospitals have maintained and still playing a vibrant role in the state mental healthcare (Bazemore, 2005).

Healthcare evolution has resulted in community-based health care. This process has resulted in creating awareness to the people since they are able to work, learn, live and participate in the community activities. This has resulted in the ability of the community to be productive despite any disability (Oss, 2004). This has been facilitated by the shift from being patient to a partner in a collaborative process. There has been an emphasis that has supported evidence-based practices which are fundamental in clinic services. By a way of using medical algorithms and clinical practice guidelines have greatly enhanced the trend (Oss, 2004).

There have been questions whether health professional want to be viewed as an industrial enterprise. The work that is carried out in the Behavioral healthcare has an industrial component. The outcomes, standard and the metrics are some of the requirements needed in both behavioral health care and any industrial entity (Edwards, 2005). It conflicts because behavioral health care is seemed to concentrate more on helping others professionally which seems to be a cold and an impassionate way of describing an industry. Caring for the mentally ill takes a special quality in fulfilling it as compared to other industries (Edwards, 2005).

Mental health principles in the community have been developed through various plans and budgets that establish a comprehensive community-based treatment. The plans thrust both the public and the private sector (Ahr, 2005). This has led to early intervention and prevention of the illness. This has greatly lead to the reduction of illness and proper uptake of the illness in case of any occurrence.  Despite the obstacles of funding, there have been efforts to see the ongoing. There has been a great shift of isolating the sick the level that they are offered treatment in their homes. This has resulted in home-based support that has resulted in the problem of inpatient capacity being solved (Ahr, 2005).

Isolation principles of institutional care and the community-based services today have their similarity and differences. They both aimed at providing healthcare to the mentally ill but with the current community-based services they have gone a step further to create awareness to the community which has resulted in home-based care services. Community-based services are better to those who have persistent mental illness since they don’t have to be isolated or jailed and they can also enjoy personalized home care services (Oss, 2004). Providing institutional healthcare to individuals with persistent mental illness plays a great role in ensuring proper medication is administered to the individuals (Ahr, 2005). This also ensures that every step of treatment is taken well to enhance rehabilitation. The institutional care is important to the individuals with mental illness and the community at large.

Cloud Computing in Healthcare

Thesis; cloud computing should be adopted by all healthcare departments as a solution for bulky data storage and transfer problems.

Body Paragraph 1 theme:

Cloud computing acts as a platform for data storage, data sharing and scalable computing together with easy access to patients’ data and applications at any time (Calabrese & Cannatoaro, 2015)

Fact 1:  clinical data is increasing rapidly in healthcare sector as more bulky datasets are being produced by different platforms such as human body investigation purpose together by cell machinery.

Fact 2: omics experiments over large populations have been the primary cause of increasing clinical and experimental data in healthcare sector.

Body Paragraph 2 theme:

Cloud computing plays a significant role in data analysis, management, processing and integration since it promotes easy data visualization and exploration (Calabrese & Cannatoaro, 2015).

Fact 1:  citing from the amount of data being processed in the healthcare sector, it is factual that the industry requires incessant and methodical innovation that guarantees cost and time effectiveness together with high quality services

Fact 2: cloud resources exhibit to be virtualized, enthusiastically scalable, and internet accessible which means that data can be accessed while on demand since its always available and accessible (Calabrese & Cannatoaro, 2015)

 Body Paragraph 3 theme:

Cloud computing is less affected by privacy and security issues as it gives a platform for solutions regarding data leakage and loss (Griebel et al, 2015). This is based on the grounds that access to the stored data can be limited to authorized staff only meaning that there is a lower possibility of data loss or leakage to unauthorized person.

Fact 1:  cloud computing encompasses different units such as clusters and multi-core processors which make sure that data is well stored to minimize chances of data loss

Fact 2:  the technology can automatically optimize and control resources with regard to certain parameters such as storage, active users and bandwidth thereby making it easy to limit access by unauthorized individuals (Griebel et al, 2015)

Conclusion

It is factual that data loss and leakage are some of the major risks that the contemporary healthcare sector faces every day. Therefore, citing from the increasing amount of data obtained from large population being served which needs to be stored safely, it is true that healthcare sector needs a systematic and continuous innovation that guarantees sufficient storage capacity and security of data (Griebel et al, 2015).  Healthcare sector needs a platform that will make sure that patient’s data is easily retrieved when needed and there are minimal chances that the data might fall in unauthorized hands. Thus, cloud computing is a potential solution for all problems faced by healthcare industry especially with regards to data storage, security and future retrieval. Apart from offering enough space for data storage, data sharing and scalable computing, cloud computing offers other different benefits such as resource pooling, measured services and self-service options (Griebel et al, 2015). This enables cloud computing to automatically control and optimize resources with regard to different measures such as bandwidth, processing power, active users and storage. Generally, citing from all these features exhibited by cloud computing, the technology is regarded to be the next generation’s technology and the fifth utility for healthcare sector.

My Diet

I love eating, and I could eat as many times as possible on a typical day, for a whole weak. That is why the lifestyle I follow include mainly a vegan diet that is plant based and I consume very little to no meat or daily products or other animal products. This reason for this is that animal products are known to be very toxic and taking in the amount that people do nowadays is very dangerous.

My diet usually include roughly 80% of carbohydrates, low fats making up 10% of the diet and the rest 10% is for protein. This diet is mostly made up of fruit which I like to eat in large amounts for my breakfast and lunch. I like the whole and ripe since the starch is broken down to sugar when fruits are ripe, digestion is easier and I can obtain all the minerals and vitamins at their peak. My average intake per day is 3000 calories of vegetables, cooked starches like beans, potatoes and rice. I try to follow the 80/10/10 diet lifestyle recommended by Dr. Douglas Graham which emphasis on eating raw vegetables but I include cooked vegan at dinner (Graham, 42).

Research have shown that following a high-protein based on animal products made the risk of death resulting from any cause to be more by around 74% and the risk of cancer death by  more than four times, in comparison to low-protein diet. Thus I maintain a low quality protein based plants like beans, quinoa, tofu, and brown rice. To obtain the essential omega 3and 6 I chose my fat choices like avocado, nuts, seeds and coconut oil. The fruits contain lots of fibre, water that makes one full its sweet sugars prevent the body from a craving of junk, (Levine et. al, 1).

The Impact Of American Culture (Food) On The Chinese People’s Diet

Many people in the world have adapted American styles of living in terms of dressing, feeding, entertainment products, and even the language (Inglis, 101). This kind of adaption explains the extent of Americanization in most of the countries. According to (Brendon, 162) the concern about Americanization is not to condemn the American culture. Some aspects of American culture are good and helpful to the Americanized nations. Other aspects of the culture are destroying the sense of locality, which makes people prefer more of American culture to their local culture hence a loss of identity. American lifestyle has been introduced as far as China and some of the most practiced lifestyle is feeding (Inglis, 101). American style and drinks have altered the Chinese feeding culture despite the fact the strong confidence that people of China had about their way of feeding.

The adaption of new eating habits by the Chinese is due to the diversity of its population hence necessitating importation of foodstuffs from other countries like America who produce a variety of foodstuffs (Inglis, 102). It was hard feed the increasing population on the scarce Chinese foods that is mostly meat. Due to scarcity of meat, more foods had to be introduced from other cultures like American.

The traditional Chinese diet is characterized by low a low quantity of animal-based foods with plenty of plant-based foods. This diet has always been known for fighting diseases (Caballero, 42). In addition to being delicious Chinese cooking is based to serve as a therapy for harmonizing the body in seasons. The traditional Chinese diet comprises of vegetables that are steamed lightly, accompanied by rice, dumplings, or noodles (Caballero, 42). Fish and meat being part of the diet are normally to be served in smaller in amount compared to the western diet. This is so different from the American cooking style that has changed the Chinese order of diet. The American style of cooking has been introduced in china and most of the Chinese food now is American version. Chinese immigrants created it some time back, adapting style using American ingredients. The traditional Chinese foods include chop suey, won ton soup, moo goo gai pan, and egg foo yung (Caballero, 42). These foods had to be changed when the Chinese immigrants mixed up with Americans and due to lack of Chinese ingredients in America; they were forced to use the American ingredients in preparing Chinese foods. As a result, the Chinese food became Americanized and a new wave of dishes were introduced in Chinese diet including Kung pao chicken, general Tso’s chicken, mushu pork and sour soup.

The introduction of American styles of cooking has several impacts to both china and America and the impacts are both positive and negative. First, with the change in the cooking styles, Chinese have resorted to growing the American ingredients in order to maintain the style of cooking (Caballero, 42). It has also created trade relation between America and china by importing some food items from America to china. This has also resulted into a variety of foodstuffs in china to add the ones that existed. Americans are now free to move to china without worry of what to feed on the other because there are varieties of foodstuffs that favor them the other side (Cody, 10). The Chinese change of food styles promotes diverse population. Americans are advantaged because they establish American hotels in china for their own benefit hence promoting American products.

This adaption of American culture also has a negative impact to the Chinese. There is distortion of culture as the Americans replace the Chinese style foods with the American style. The home commodities or food items lose market since are now introduced to another cooking style which requires importation of ingredients (Cody, 10). American hotels in china have to employ American chefs since they are the ones who have much experience on the American style of foods than the Chinese hence neglecting the Chinese. They also resulted to a fall in the domestic restaurants especially those that cook typical traditional Chinese foods (Cody, 10). The Chinese cooking that aimed to promote health of people is being replaced by the American style, which comprises of a mixture of many ingredients may not serve the same purpose like the traditional Chinese food.

            Men’s Health in Primary Care

            Question 1

Inflammatory bowel diagnoses can be conducted as the inflammatory diseases are caused by dysregulated response of the immune in hooting of internal microflora.  This diagnosis is this important in establishing colon inflammatory and the disease of Crohn which affects the segments of gastro internal tract. Screening is also essential in determining whether the patient suffers from any type of cancer (Athreya, 2010). Diabetes insipidus is the other diagnosis. This is because patient suffering from type 2 diabetes is associated with obesity in collaboration with a thick neck. Moreover, since the patient has been involved in taking heavy alcohol substances an induced alcohol neuropathy peripheral diagnoses can also be conducted (Athreya, 2010).

            Testicular Cancer

Cancer of the testicular is a type of cancer that occurs in both testicles of the male sexual organ (Hasan, 2012).  The disease begins with transformation in the cells germ which is the cells that are responsible for the production of sperms and the cells are also referred to as tumor at times. The disease is commonly diagnosed in young men of ages between fifteen and thirty-five years. However the disease is one f the treatable cancer type if detected in early stages of development while the survival rate of those in advanced stages is very low (Hasan, 2012).

The causes of testicular cancer have not yet been established (Verville, 2009). However, the disease is characteristic with a genetic transformation which is often seen in the sporadic of cancer. This, therefore, shows that the genes are essential in the production of germ tumor cells. Therefore, genetic factors play a great role I testicular cancer development as most of the affected patients indicate to having a family member who is affected (Verville, 2009) . For most of the affected men, they experience the development of a painless lump, some of them feel a swearing of the belly and pain is only experienced by around 10% of the patients (Verville, 2009).

The patients are therefore required to follow the guidelines of the physicians in order to stop the growth of the cancer cells completely (Hasan, 2012).  This is therefore accomplished by the different treatment options which include radical orchiectomy which is the first phase of treatment and also it helps in diagnosis. Chemotherapy can also be utilized which involves the usage of drugs to stop the cancer cells from developing further. Removal of the lymph can also be conducted to eliminate the chances of the cancer spread or even radiation therapy where the cancer cells are exposed to high x-rays energy to stop the growth (Hasan, 2012).  Therefore, the patients should understand that treatment helps in reducing the mortality rate as this type of cancer is highly curable and early treatment is necessary.

Chaos and Complexity Theory in Health Care

Chaos theory and complexity theory are linked distinct sectors of the health care system.  This is because the complexity theory offers the health care providers with a mode of understanding as it is based on interrelatedness of the elements of the health care systems.  The theory utilizes time sequence which helps the health care providers in illustrating if the system is complex (Sullivan, 2013). The theory is therefore beneficial to the health care sector because it helps in building better relationships between the health care providers, the patients as well as the health places environment. The theory therefore helps in increasing the efficiency of the services that are provided by physician to the patients as the relationships are enhanced which helps in increasing corporation as well as understanding (Sullivan, 2013).

Both the complexity and chaos theory holds increasing frequency in provision of health care services.  This is crucial in improving the health sector.  In addition the theory helps in management of activities since the physicians are involved in treatment of many patients and therefore the theory helps in maintaining the energy as it helps in studying the behaviors of patients (Sullivan, 2013). This theory is also crucial in increasing the communication efficiency between the patient and the physicians which helps in responding to emergencies. The complexity theory beholds great potential in healthcare services as it assists in accomplishing the practical activities which is resulted by proper usage of the detailed concepts that the theory holds.  The theories therefore help the health care in many sections as effective management and understanding of the healthcare complexity is enhanced (Sullivan, 2013).

Interpret Protein Characterization Data from the Literature

The mass spectrometer is an important characterization of proteins. Mass spectrometry is generally an analytical approach which is crucial in establishing relative molecular fragments and ions masses (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).  This works by the ionizing the gas molecules in order to establish their mass charge. This technique is effective as it utilizes an electric field which helps in the identification of molecule composition since lighter ions are characterized by speed which helps in achieving accuracy.  This technique also helps in the identification of amino acids components (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).

This technique works by analyzing proteins by utilizing spectrometry where protein are broken down into the peptides components.  Trypsin is often used in the digestion of proteins because it cleaves the peptides components and it is highly actives which enable it to tolerate several additives (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009). The digested proteins are then separated by utilizing phase reverse column by using acetic acid. The ionized proteins are then passed via eluate column which holds peptides as well as solvents.  When the solvents completely evaporates their surfaces which are the charged moves the peptized which are ionized into the mass spectrometer?  Chromatography is used in the mass spectrometer in the introduction of molecules (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).

The peptides are identified by mass fingerprinting of peptides after they are introduced into the mass spectrometer.  This is preferable because of their mass ranges and high rate accuracies. Mass peptides analysis is preferred in the characterization of protein because it is designed is cheaper and is used in characterization (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009). In addition, this technique is easy when the general proteins have been fully consumed into smaller fragments of proteins. The most used instrument in analyzing mass peptides MALDA time flight because it permits the obtaining of mass fingerprints of peptides at a high speed (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).

Interest proteins are part of the complex mixture of multiple molecules and proteins as they exist in biological medium.  This procedure, therefore, presents major problems as the ionization of large molecules is effective when the complex mixture only entails equal constituent’s amounts. The secondary spectrum mass complex mixture is challenging to interpret because of the high numbers of components mixtures (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).  This is therefore influenced by the fact that digestion of enzyme proteins leads to the rise of numerous peptides number. Multiple phases of analysis of the peptides masses can thus be accomplished with personal mass spectrometer components which are separated by a single space or by a mass spectrometer with separation of time. In the identification of the protein structure characteristics which are indicative of the three structures of dimensions of proteins with the incorporation of mass spectrometry in numerous ways (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger,  Paul Bales, 2009).

Reagents are used in Characterization of the protein compound and the congress by utilization of MS has several importances over the biophysical techniques because of the resolution and the inherent sensitivity of MS (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger, Paul Bales, 2009).  The application of MS incorporation with electrospray ionization in the measurements of large protein complexes is furthered by the improvement of sensitive analyzers like the time flight analyzer. In addition, the technique is also effective because the protein being utilized is digested fully if added in small portions and the peptides that exist in either big or small sizes can be analyzed (Sullivan, Han, Liu, Mace, Ervin, Koger,  Paul Bales, 2009).  If the sequence frequency of the analysis is therefore 70% coverage this, therefore, means that the process was thus successful in measuring the protein interests from the figures utilized.
