This is an unusual twist for a research paper but the approach should help you with the time pressure I’m sure you are all experiencing. Ordinarily you are given a title (or you select one) and you proceed with secondary research; then you compile and present your results in a “research paper.” In this assignment, the secondary research has been done for you. The three articles are in your course pack. Your task is to read the three articles and decide on the story they tell. Based upon the story you craft, you then must complete the following title:
“Competitive Advantage: …
In this assignment you are to explain the theory being explored in the articles and then assess its usefulness for practicing managers. Your assessment must adopt the analytical perspective of a manager. In other words, view practicing managers as the audience for your paper.
Do not attempt to write the paper if you haven’t read the MBA style guide. If you are directed to use APA, any paper written in conformance with the aforementioned style guide will conform to APA 6th edition.
Research Paper Outline: (Separate page) Cover Page Introduction* Theory description Usefulness to practicing managers Conclusion (Separate page) References * this heading should not appear in the paper per APA
Footnotes, endnotes, abstracts and the table of contents are not required in this paper.

The report is about an NHS organisation and I choose Moorfields Eye Hospital, it is a theoretical report and should include literature to support this report, below if put how the report should be structured. the report is also asking to provide a graduate role new for the organisation I choose Financial Technology (FinTech), I will attach my A4 plan so it can help
1. Introduction 1 Background to the Organisation: Name the organisation and why it was selected for this investigation. Its stage in the Organisational Life Cycle. Status in the sector and recent sector developments /trends. Number of Employees. Key competitors. Include the real world organisation’s website. 2 Background to the Issue Identify an issue in your chosen organization that prompts the graduate role that you have identified as required. Role of HRM in addressing this issue 3 Role to be Delivered The new graduate role should be a new one for this organization, designed to address the need that you have identified for them. It must be linked to the area you have identified from your labour market analysis as one for you to develop yourself in. Identify the role and give a rationale for its inclusion on the staff team.
2. Models and Literature Overview This chapter is about the literature and not the organisation 2.1 Job Description and Person Specification Literature to support the approach you have taken and refer to the JD and PS practical outlines in your appendices (v and vi) 2.2 Selection Model Selected Justify why this model is useful from the journal literature. You will require specific selection models from those taught on the module. They should be appropriate to a graduate role which has development to managerial potential. Think about how you will assess the graduate candidate for developing leadership skills. Refer to the Recruitment competences you have identified and suggest why they prompt this selection approach. 2.3 Management Model Selected Justify why this model is useful from the journal literature as a fit to develop your graduate. Note the difference between Leadership and Management from the module models taught. 2.4 Strategic HRM Model Justify why you have chosen this aspect of SHRM from the journal literature. 3. Discussion / Analysis Remember to include numbered subheadings here. 3.1 Discuss the models against the organisation’s need and how your research has been informed by your labour market analysis.
3.2 You can analyse how the models could be used and why they are relevant to the real world organisation you have chosen.
4. Conclusions Summarise your key findings and how the literature and models fit with your chosen organisation. The JNA (Job Needs Analysis) and JA (Job Analysis) with Competence examples have been given in week 3 to inform the JD, which appears in the appendix. The PS has been discussed and a short grid was offered as part of the plan guide. In Chapter 2 of your report the JD and PS information relates to the theory of what (What is…) and why (why do we want to include the JD / PS?) for the JD and PS and does not include the actual JD or PS developed for your role. Instead, in chapter 2’s Literature Review you are really justifying why a JD or PS should be used by referencing the journal articles’ arguments.
I am going to upload some useful lecture slides that are preferable to use.

Select an existing organization whose practices exemplify superior leadership qualities. A good place to start your research is Fortune Magazine’s annual ranking of “The World’s Most Admired Companies”. Within the selected organization, who is the major figure(s) that demonstrates high levels of quality leadership? What characteristics, traits, and behaviors does this individual(s) exhibit? Does the organization’s culture firmly support the leader’s(s’) short- and long-term objectives and actions? If the individual(s) left the organization, would it affect the firm’s growth, productivity, customers, employees, vendors, etc. Be specific in your examples. What steps can the organization take to ensure that quality leadership practices are properly developed and executed in the future? Guidelines for Written Assignments You are required to submit a 5 to 7 page research paper on the topic listed above. Find peer reviewed articles from online journals through the CUNY online library. Concept of Leadership Have you had the opportunity to collaborate with a good leader? What skills, traits, and behaviors made this leader effective? In terms of leadership, effective has different meanings depending upon the context in which it is used, and who is defining it. Leadership that works in public and/or nonprofit organizations often differs from that which is effective in private-sector organizations. What is true, however, is that leadership is comprised of specific skills, traits, and behaviors, some of which are innate and others, which can be learned.
For this Discussion, you asses your own skills and traits that you believe would make you an effective leader in public administration. To assist you in assessing your leadership skills and traits complete the “Leadership Trait Questionaire” in Chapter 2 of the Northouse text and one of the following the “Skills Inventory” in Chapter 3, or the “Leadership Behavior Questionnaire” in Chapter 4 of the Northouse text.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 the skills and traits that you possess that you think would make you an effective leader in a public or nonprofit organization in your community, and explain why. Then reflect on the skills and traits you may still need to acquire to be an effective leader in public administration. Explain gaps you might need to fill in order to be an effective leader.
Questions and Topics We Can Help You To Answer: Paper Instructions: Charismatic and Transformational Leadership Thanks to online free lectures and trainings such as those offered by Ted Talks, individuals have easy access to leaders discoursing on everything from the power of vulnerability to improving food systems to the secret to happiness. The most successful lectures of this type are certainly delivered by knowledgeable speakers, but perhaps the most shared lectures are delivered by speakers who are able to convey the information in a charismatic manner. Charismatic leaders are able to capture the attention of their followers, but transformational leaders are able to keep that attention and to affect change. Charismatic and transformational leaders can be found in most organizations; however, because followers may differ in private versus public and nonprofit organizations, it makes sense that charismatic and transformative leadership behaviors may differ in public and nonprofit organizations.
For this Discussion, think for a moment about a leader in your community who is very charismatic. Think about how the leader exemplifies charisma. Pay particular attention to behaviors associated with charismatic leaders that influence followers. Then, consider the traits, abilities, and behaviors that are exemplified by a transformational leader. With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 your explanation of how the behaviors of a charismatic leader compare with a transformational leader. Explain whether charisma always has a positive influence on followers, using specific examples. Finally, explain behaviors associated with transformative leadership and the impact of transformational leadership on followers.

Application: The Relationship Between Follower Traits and Values and Leader Performance The impact of leadership on follower outcomes, such as individual satisfaction, group cohesion, and quality of performance, has been heavily researched. But what about the importance of follower traits and values to leader outcomes and performance? Although behaviorist Mary Parker Follest suggested in 1947 that organizational performance depended largely on leaders understanding and accommodating the needs of followers, this is a less-researched area of study in management (Chong & Wolf, 2010); however, it is no less important to the makeup of an effective organization.
In addition, in 1967, Fred Fiedler proposed a seminal theory of leadership he called the contingency model (Bons & Fiedler, 1976). Fiedler saw leadership behaviors and perceptions of followers as depending on contexts and situations. Subsequent theorists proposed that both leaders and followers were influenced by situational variables, and that these variables, in turn, ultimately affect the performance or the organization. What situational variables pertain to public and nonprofit organizations that would affect this leader-follower relationship and, ultimately, organizational effectiveness?
Leadership is about more than simply possessing particular traits and characteristics. It also is about how a leader’s traits and characteristics mesh with the values of followers and the complexities of the organizational environment.
For this assignment, review this week’s Learning Resources. Think about how leader characteristics, follower characteristics, and situational factors interact to influence leadership effectiveness. Then, identify challenges leaders might encounter when engaging in the leadership process.
The assignment: (3–4 pages) Write a 3- to 4-page paper that includes the following:
An explanation of how the interaction between leader characteristics, follower characteristics, and situational factors influences leadership effectiveness. A description of at least two challenges related to the practice of leadership based on your analysis of this interaction. An explanation of how leaders might address those challenges.
