The concept of "Constructive Self-Disclosure" in relation to personal and professional success, and how authenticity strengthens our relationships with others. We will explore the Johari Window and how this model can serve to deepen our understanding of the process of self-disclosure and the various levels of self-awareness and their impact on interpersonal communications.
Disclosure is important to think about these days - we want to be open and friendly at work, but being too open can lead a person into trouble. The four panes of the Johari Window, help explain the process of self-disclosure and consider our own levels of self-awareness in the communication process. Talk about how the 4 panes in Johari Window might be seen in the workplace. Give a specific example of how each pane would be seen at work.

Historical Article Review Essay
What is a review essay?
A review essay examines the structure, framework, sources, and argument of an historical
article or book. For this class, you will be writing a review over an article of your choosing. Each
article has been taken from an historical journal from JSTOR, a database for academic journal
articles. A review essay should provide analysis of the article being reviewed and determine
where it fits in the larger historical conversation of a particular topic.
How to Read an Article:
After you have chosen your article and claimed it on the discussion board, you should
begin reading. There are strategies that you can use while reading to make the writing process
much easier. As you read, you want to annotate each paragraph in the article to ensure that you
understand the overall argument being made. More importantly, however, you should come up
with a system of color-coding or marking the article to designate specific pieces that you will
want to address in your essay. For example, I like to place a star next to the thesis of the article,
or the overall argument. I might underline specific examples. As you read, you should be
identifying the argument, the framework that the author uses, the structure and approach to the
article, and the content covered. You should also be sure to examine the type of sources used.
Structuring Your Essay:
For a review essay, you want to avoid simply summarizing the article. Therefore, you
should avoid structuring your essay in a beginning-middle-end fashion. Rather, you should
choose aspects of the essay to focus on for each paragraph – argument, framework,
historiography, sources, overall analysis. As a rule of thumb, you should have at least one
reference for each paragraph. This can be in the form of an in-text citation or a footnote but
should always be in Chicago or APA format. Use the material from the article to draw
conclusions, but when you do, make sure you cite which page you pulled that piece of
information from in the article.
Requirements:
• Follow Chicago or APA guidelines
o APA Format
o Chicago Format
o Note: Do not use a citation generator
• Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced
• Include the title of the reviewed article at the top
• 500 words (points will not be taken off if you have between 480 and 520 words –
not including the heading)
• Follow the guidelines listed above and in the syllabus. Use these resources as a
rough rubric.

This is an essay for my course: Religion and Modernities in the Middle-East. I have to write a 1000 - 1500 word essay on any historical or contemporary topic that is connected to the course. I chose Sufism and the challenge of Islamic fundamentalism. I was inspired by this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/24/world/middleeast/sufi-muslim-explainer.html

Introduction: Statement of the problem by formulating a leading question and providing background information. The introduction must outline clearly what you intend to do in the body of the paper. It should, furthermore, end with a paragraph describing what is done in each section of the paper.
Body: Presenting the results of your research in an organized and consistent manner. It should be clearly seen that you understand the material well. Use every opportunity to analyze critically different views on the subject you are presenting - this is the best way to demonstrate understanding. You must avoid writing mere summaries of what other authors have written on the subject. Give your assessment of the academic literature you read.
Conclusion: Summary of the most important results of your research discussed in the body of the paper.

I included a draft that I started on. I am absolutely stuck and I don't have any inspiration at all. Feel free to not use it all.

BONSAI, ‘tray planting’,  or PENJING are miniature living landscapes that come from Japanese and Chinese garden design styles.  Rather than use 'borrowed scenery' to create larger gardens, these can focus on a single item shaped to a particular expression through cultivation practices.  A much finer art form than the contemporary mixed color bowls or cactus and succulent gardens of western culture. Many botanical gardens, clubs and private collectors have stewardship over very valuable bonsai specimens, remarkably old, sometimes inherited or given as dowry.  If you have never been to a bonsai show, now may be the time to appreciate one.  Watching a bonsai master use the specific tools required to manipulate a bonsai can be fascinating.

Select a bonsai STYLE that you favor- Post a photo
What is it about it that appeals to you?
Do you understand the timing involved in it's training and continued care?
What is the approximate value of a bonsai of this kind?
Where could you go to see a bonsai collection?
Would you be willing to try the art of bonsai?

In this activity, you will complete a case study on a civilian, private operator (commercial) HEMS accident. Pay special attention to the similarities of the mission(s) of airborne law enforcement and HEMS operators.

Why?

If the missions are similar, could an airborne law enforcement organization learn from the mistakes that caused a commercial HEMS accident? You will need to give a synopsis of the accident and then discuss ways that such an accident could be prevented in the future.

The case study must be at least 300 words (exclusive of your references). Brevity and moving straight to your key points will be key to this assignment.
