One of the challenges that I encountered during my practicum was the aspect of integrating the evidence-based theories learned in a classroom set up into the real world practice. The first week was more challenging as I was extremely weighed down by the work, roles, and responsibilities that were bestowed upon me. However, with the assistance that I was able to get from my supervisors and the directors who were well knowledgeable and had some years experience in the field I was able to become more confident and changed my viewpoint on the same. Through observation and directly learning from them was able to learn different skills in this line of work. Positivity was the key to solving my challenge. Once I started to feel and become more positive about my capabilities things started changing for the better. After this experience, I was able to overcome the challenge as the profession not only became my profession but also one of my passions and through this passion I was able to validate my decision of becoming a health care and life scientist. Nonetheless, all these challenges had an intensely positive impact on me as I now feel more secure and so self-assured of all my capabilities. These challenges throughout my practicum duration I perceived them as discouragement but instead, they made me realize some of my potential and strengths in being a health care specialist.
Prior to the internship program, my view was limited only to my life experiences and education in the context of my own culture. The experiences that I acquired throughout the practicum expanded my perception on life. Transition part from being a learner into being a scholar proved to be difficult and this made it hard for me to engage into a good relationship with the preceptor. However, as time moved on I was able to focus more on my roles and responsibilities and personal achievements on learning objectives and the completion of the projects that I and my preceptors conceptualized and were approved by the practicum practitioners. I, therefore, had an opportunity to apply a well as incorporate public health setting, the expertise and various skills that I had acquired throughout my course f study and for further development in my profession. Therefore towards the third week of my practicum program, I was able to change my perception on my field as I had an opportunity to finish my coursework and synthesize the knowledge into competence in professional practice and to offer a solution to public health problems. This has thus enhanced the developing of respect and obligation to continued professional knowledge in the field.
Throughout my course, I have learned a lot and especially in the practicum semester as I was allowed to practice all that I had learned in the course. One of the core elements that I learned during this period is the service learning aspect that enhanced me to practice active involvement in the community and beyond but still realizing the importance of academic coursework. I was able to apply the knowledge as well as the skills into a consequential issue and frameworks far beyond the four walls of the classroom. Thus my internship program at the practicum pulled me away from my comfort zone and it expounded on my leadership skills in each and every aspect of my life.
Through the internship program through the clinical program, I was expected to shadow at the facility similar to that one of an apprenticeship model. I was mentored by other clinical supervisors who assisted me in bridging the gap between the institution and the practical application. Moreover, besides the onsite application at the facility, I embarked on a more specific course discipline where I was offered more social-cultural as well as experimental learning chances. I actively engaged in simulation training where I was able to interact, participate and apply and to study more on the common crisis situation. This, therefore, yielded good learning of crisis management due to the use of simulation in carrying out experimental teaching.
Practicum experience has had a varied impact on me as it has enhanced me to develop my personal philosophies as well as values that act as a driving force to furthering my studies in the field of healthcare and life sciences with exceptionalities. Being a health care specialist requires a person to possess so many skills and expertise. Dealing with people every day is not an easy task as many may perceive it to be, yet doing it calls for passion and determination which makes it a whole lot of difference. However, the pathway towards this success is surely rewarding. This field has thus changed my entire life and profession all for the best. Thus as I pursue my discipline, practicum experience has totally taught me to realize that I have made the right and excellent choice in career.
As I would like to participate in the SMU Cos MSA Program, the immediate career goals are to improve my accounting ability. The knowledge and projects that I completed in the program will enrich my knowledge and improve the understanding towards accounting, and the important role of accounting in modern business. After finishing the program, I would like to take the exams of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). CPA is one of the most popular accounting certificates in China as the certified public accountant is the only one which has signing authority. Therefore, the exam is very essential for working in China. For the ACCA, it is an international accounting exam, this exam is difficult, but the gold content of this certificate is very high. Passing the exam and obtaining these two certificates are important short goals for me.
This program will offer great value to my career as I pursue excellence in the field of accounting by enabling me to become a more competent professional. The program will also impart on me multi-faceted experience whose focus is on both technical and non-technical development of skills. A major benefit in earning this qualification is that it will help me to gain the knowledge given for breaking into the accounting field regardless of the education that I had acquired previously. This will offer many great options to fulfill my desire to be an expert in financial sector of both private and public organizations. The previous education when combined with this advanced qualification in accounting will prepare me transit into a financial adviser in the financial sectors. This program also grants one the various exceptional credentials which deliver innovative and market oriented skills while at the same time assisting me in passing the previously stated CPA and ACCA exams (Southern Methodist University, 2017). These credentials are important ingredients for anyone who wants to be among the qualified public accountants in the employment market. I think that my experience in Mandir can relate to the class in three different ways. First of all, it reminds me about the power of hegemony. My stereotype in Indian somehow was caused by hegemony. Dominant classes tend to show their reality and other cultures are marginalized when they tend to present their own world views (Hratmann, 91). The supremacy is clearly demonstrated through moral leadership and intellectual and both are bounded by force and consent. According to class, the first major premise of hegemony is the “spontaneous” consent which demonstrates the cultural leadership in social relations. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, I think that it’s wired to see Indian people still wearing costumes; normal people should wear more modernized clothes. I was deeply influenced by the society where I grew up. Therefore, when I saw Indian woman wearing Sari (a traditional Indian costume) I considered that as strange. It is hard for us to accept people who are different because we all have unconscious belief about what is normal and what is not. To understand different cultures, we have to raise awareness about hegemony and to escape the hegemony; we have to think outside of the box (Hratmann, 91).
Secondly, my cultural plunge experience shows the importance of religious freedom. There is homogenisation which creates social interaction and society inclusion (Hratmann, 96). In class, professor taught us about the first Amendment rights to religious freedom. Indian people are guaranteed the right to practice their religion without government interference. I asked them whether it was difficult or not to establish the temple in United States. They said it was not hard, and the government allowed them to do so legally. Since the government didn’t prohibit or interfering their individual religious beliefs, the establishment clause was well enforced in this situation. I’m glad that different people can practice their own religions in United States (Hratmann, 96). Especially India is a very religious country, and religion is important for them no matter where they are.
My experience helped me to value the importance of multicultural education since this is the source of freedom. It is important to understand that hegemony as described by Antonio Gramsci is socially constructed and in higher education, it has a negative effective since it provides dominant thoughts which control the popular culture and the way of life (Hratmann, 97). Hegemony in the society has social formations and it creates a barrier between the society and culture. Traditional culture plays role in shaping hegemony and the practices which it introduces hinders cultural development. It is important to eliminate the hegemony in education in order to strengthen the multicultural education (Hratmann, 91). Note that hegemony in higher education creates a cultural dynamic where there is as gap between social life. Since there is a higher level of racism in American institution, the only to eliminate racism and hegemony is to reinforce culture diversity. Racism is associated with hegemony in that people tend to view themselves more significant than others. Thus, elimination of racism will reduce hegemony in higher education and help student value the importance of diversity in education.
Finally, interacting with Indian people reminds me about the importance of five dimensions of multicultural education. Specifically, I want to connect my experience with empowering school culture and prejudice reduction. Empowering school culture can help diverse students create mutual respect and value diversity. When students learn more about different cultures, they could accept different cultures so that different culture group can co-exist in society (Tatum, 4). For example, because I grew in China that everyone has similar culture background, it was hard for me to appreciate different cultures, that why I didn’t understand Indian culture at beginning. The prejudice reduction dimension can create positive attitude regarding other racial. After talking to Indian people, I realized that they all hope American society could have more positive attitudes about them (Tatum, 4). Prejudice could be avoided once people don’t consider themselves as better ones. If I didn’t ask to do this cultural plunge activity, I probably would never have the chance to step in Hinduism temple and interact with them. Before attending college, I never taught anything that intended to reduce prejudice; I had my own prejudice even without knowing it.
Overall, my experience in Hinduism temple and the interaction with Indian people was an unforgettable memory for me. It reminded me the importance to pay attention to different cultures group living in society, and taught me to reduce stereotype about people because the stereotype is usually not true. Just like how Tatum defines prejudice, “Stereotypes and exclusions are the root causes of prejudice (Tatum, 5). We have to think outside the box, and look everyone, every group equally, because no one is better than others, just like how Hinduisms believe. It was hard for me to step my own comfort zone at first, and it was hard for me to understand Indian culture without any stereotype. However, this experience changed my way of thinking, and I’m glad that I chose to go there for my cultural plunge activity. I will always remind myself to accept people who are different from me, and to always respect others.

An illegal substance like Adderall can help students to get a higher score on their exams, therefore, more and more college students choose to use it to do better on their courses based on the existing pressure of performing well (Jacobs, 2005). The world currently has high education expectation on students and therefore everyone is required to perform well. In addition college institution and the involved professions pressures students with a number of tasks that deprives them adequate time to relax. This, therefore, causes much pressure on the students thus requiring decreasing it through illegal entertainment. Based on the recent finding more than 7.5% of the students in a single institution attends raves and consumes drugs on a monthly basis (White, 2009). There is evidence that indicates that those that attends raves holds a higher possibility of engaging in drugs than those that do not. The most utilized drugs based on research are marijuana. This is because the drug is readily and easily accessible for most college students, in addition, it is utilized in nervous relaxation.

Reading Reactions portfolio (Concept of STEM Education)
Rosenblatt (1984) provides an illustration of the difference between a text and a poem which at first seemed contradicting. As I started reading I had a thought that there is no difference since they are all in form of writing; however I forgot that a poem is a bit complicating since one has to consider all genre of literature. Rosenblatt arguments encouraged me to learn more since the information he provided in the argument were realist thereby; I was able to clear my thought understanding that there is a difference between a prose and a poem. The truth is that there is a huge difference between a text and a poem whereby; prose is all about accretion and on the other hand poetry is the generation of words together to provide the truth (Rosenblatt, 1982).
As I was reading the transaction theory in the teaching literature I kept generating several questions in mind on why a poem has to be so contradicting in regard to Rosenblatt idea that it comes along with symbolic acts which are only generated in the reader’s mind. In my understanding of the reading a poem is not only a collection of words unlike the text but also has some rules since it appears in form of art where various content and styles such as music are characterized (Rosenblatt, 1982).
The transaction theory is able to provide various assumptions to give a clear understanding of the differences. The author suggests that a poem is generated from the act of reading unlike a text which requires deep thought. The thought aided in my understanding that for a text deep thought must be considered plus grammar, but for a poem it can be developed from sight, hearing or just a sound. I was able to comprehend that a prose is a collection of words joined together to form sentence which are organized into paragraphs (Waugh, 2012).
In my assumption on the transaction theory poem has to be consisted of the truth and that gives the reason why it is presented in style where symbolism, mood as well as tone are implicated. Given a poem depicting pain it is easy for the reader to see the pain from the style and tone of the poem; however in a text the reader is not easily able to see the pain depicted thus making it just a collection of words which comes from the thought rather that reality. The transaction theory suggests that literature is one of the major things to consider while writing a poem or a text thereby; I highly support this idea because poem is not only based on words but composition of literature which involves music as well as the atmosphere (Waugh, 2012).

The book has been written in a very unique way such that the reader is able to understand the information being passed through reading the introduction. The introduction clearly depicts whatever the book entails, thus giving the reader an overview of the type of information being passed in the book. The language used is however deep and it might therefore require a person to use a dictionary in order to research on the words which have a deeper meaning (Chapter 4, 104). The arguments have been done in a very good way such that one can be able to understand the causes of the arguments because they have been backed in the best way. The book was easy to read even though it had very deep words which made it difficult for me to be able to understand their meaning.
The information presented has been synthesised from other published materials. The information has also been written in a way that it makes one to be able to understand whatever the book is talking about without having dig deeper into the book. Moreover, the information is credible due to the careful research which was conducted in order to come up with such information (Chapter 4, 106). The information in the book does not contain omissions or biases because the information presented has been carefully looked into before being written. The information contained in the book has therefore looked into the main arguments, and provided very significant information to back it up. The arguments make sense because they are very clear and they have been discussed, thus making one to know why a certain thing happened and what the reason behind it was.
I learned that writing papers and completing them in stages helped in developing a better ground for the entire paper. Through stages writing a comprehensive and detailed report for the honest corporation was developed successfully. Writing in stages helps in the organization of thoughts and clarification of different ideas and this can additional help in identification of sections that requires more effort. This is mainly because the stages help in developing more detailed and well-researched information. The project consist the construction of the city’s new sewerage treatment and the water recycling plant. The increase in budget estimates has been attributed by more piping due to the project's new site which is far from the city environs. The project will also have an advanced treatment technology plan to increase the ground water quantity levels that will be expensive to install. An equalization tank will be installed to control the amount of water intake into the system during heavy rains which cause increased flow of water into the system (Wilson, 2012). The previous budget estimate lacked an estimated $5 million for the deactivation of the previous water system which dumps hundreds of gallons of treated water daily into the ocean. The main factor considered by the city council in the selection of the site of construction of the plant is agricultural water reuse rather than the costly groundwater injection. The main issues surrounding this project involve the increase in a number of funds to be used and the reuse of water from the plant by the surrounding agricultural areas, leading to sustainable agriculture.

The recollection theory presents a significant explanation of knowledge to be innate. It is not obtained through knowledge but it is rather an important element of the person soul which cannot be misplaced. Its loss is founded on a false belief that is obtained in the experience. The theory explains why the when a soul enters the body due to a traumatic experience the soul itself and its interest. The traumatic experience takes control of the body and it is in this process it acquires the fake beliefs that hinder an individual from making the right decision in life[1]. The theory provides about the Socrates and their love for wisdom as it explains why the Socrates is viewed to be presupposed[2]. The theory explains why the questioning of removing the contradiction in the belief does not eliminate the knowledge. This elaborates why human beings are confused about the good belief and what hinders them from having a good life. The elimination of the false beliefs yields wisdom sufficient for the virtue and as a factor of living a good life.
According to the argument on the recollection theory as well as the Socrates’ example that demonstrates equality, it is quite clear that the use of the example of the equal sticks and stones fails to clearly demonstrate the theory of recollection. However, the concept does not fully apply to human beings since it fails to clearly explain how the humans are not fully equal just as the two sticks or stones. Therefore, Plato in his definition of the theory of recollection he relates the issue on similarity and equality. This is where things may seem similar and may be used to remind us of equality form[6]. It is arguably true to say that we are aware of stones or sticks do fall short of being completely identical. In order for the people to be aware that they fall short an idea of perfectly equal should be known in the Equality form.
In our senses, equal stones and sticks are equal similarly to their deficiency in regards to true Equality. In this sensible world, there are no examples of ideal equality which we had the notion of the time of existence[7]. Socrates deduces that individuals can learn through their senses about Equality but the knowledge should be obtained before birth takes place. During this time is when the true equality holds and its other forms as also true[8]. In this process, it is when the process of learning recollects them and becomes familiar with them once more. This is the reason why Socrates argues that all knowledge is a recollection.
The metaphysics in the Phaedo lies on the common ground, methodology, and substance of Plato’s readers.
