For this Assignment, you will apply these skills to address a problem related to the case study you have been exploring throughout the course. What problems have you and your colleagues identified as you have explored the case study together?

Select one of those problems that you would like investigate further in order to effect a positive change. Assume the role of the leader in the planning for positive change related to the problem you identify and consider the steps you might take to effect change, and how they might inform an action plan for change. Then, download the Action Plan Template located in the Learning Resources section. Use the template as a guide to assist and organize the different items that you need to investigate in order to move the plan for change in a positive direction.

Submit a 2- to 3-page paper in which you identify the change you would like to implement and explain the plan you would use to bring about the change. To be a successful student of sociology, it is crucial that you develop the ability to think critically and systematically about what we are presented in mass media and popular culture. This assignment provides you with an opportunity to apply your knowledge of one or more sociological theories to explain a piece of media. You may choose a piece of fiction (television series, an album, or a film) or non-fiction (a news article or series of articles).

Your task is to critically analyze your piece of media using one or more of the theories (and their extensions) that we have discussed in the class. The goal is to show that you understand one or more theories in detail, and can use that knowledge to analyze a piece of media. You should show a solid understanding of your theory(ies), extensions, critiques and how it applies to your piece of media. The assignment is flexible – be creative!

Papers should be between 10-12 pages in length (written text) and should include a proper introduction/conclusion, brief summary of your news article/tv show/film, a thorough overview of your theoretical approach (explain the theory/theories in detail) and an application of this theory to your chose piece of media (ie. an analysis). In addition, the paper should include a title page and references. Papers should reflect your informed opinion based on what you have learned in the course (I expect to see integration of the course textbook/lectures). You should draw on a minimum of six outside sources in addition to the course textbook/articles. If you are using a news article the original article must be stapled to your paper (either the newspaper clipping or a print out if you read it online).

This essay needs to explore the Constructivist school of thought in International Relations and should answer the question 'to what extent are world politics 'constructed'?

Please write a balanced and nuanced paper exploring the constructivist school of thought (and where its roots lie i.e the “constructivist” view on international actors’ behaviour has solid roots in sociological and philosophical inquiries, e.g. Berger & Luckman, Becker, or Bourdieu) and argue (coming to a balanced/nuanced conclusion) the extent to which world politics are 'constructed.)

The essay should explore the main theorists and the central ideas in this school of thought and present the arguments presented by constructivists. It should go in depth and be critical/examine the said arguments as opposed to summarising them. Key works/thinkers in the constructivist school of thought should be referenced.

Please only reference using the Chicago footnote system and please cite/use as many sources as you can (at least 5).  Please read through all of the sources attached and make sure to reference them (: They are mostly very straightforward.

At least one example/case study should be referred to to show how politics can be constructed, as well as an opposing example to show the flaws within the theory.

Attached as a resource is an essay I wrote a couple of years ago roughly on this topic (it is titled 4.Old Essay) in case it is of some help to you. However, it isn't a good essay and only covers the topic superficially so only use it as a rough starting point if you would like to use it, and please go into more detail than it does (also, while similar, this essay question is different to the one I wrote). Please don't reference this essay but read through it as a starting point if you would like - there are many mistakes with it.

Essentially, this essay should lay down the main arguments of the constructivist school of thought and explore them in depth and then go on to show how constructivists believe world politics are 'constructed'. Simultaneously, you should present the opposing views/arguments in International Relations theory, ultimately arguing the extent to which you believe world politics are 'constructed' by identity/norms. While writing, please present your arguments in a clear and logical way.

Hope this all makes sense (: Please reach out to me if you are confused at any point or would like more sources/material.

Write a 1200-1400 word argumentative synthesis essay on the topic of hate crimes or hate crime laws in the United States that incorporates a minimum of five sources, three of which must be from the list of Unit 2 readings; some of these are listed below, and others are posted to Blackboard in our learning module on our topic of hate crime laws (note that the various FBI websites linked to on Blackboard only count as one source in terms of the assignment requirements, but you must cite them separately in your essay). One of your sources must be one of the articles accessed from the MDC database (see that list below). While I require you to use a minimum of  three sources from my lists, the rest of you sources can come from my lists or from your own research. If conducting your own research, however, be sure that you are using reputable, high-quality sources (such as well-known newspapers or publications as opposed to a random website or blog).    After learning about the topic, you must narrow your focus to something manageable. Next, your essay should bring the sources you choose into conversation with each other in order to present and showcase multiple perspectives on the topic. Your synthesis essay must also present and develop your perspective of the issue (your thesis) within the context of this larger ongoing discussion. Finally, your paper must be presented in proper MLA format, including proper in-text citations and a properly-formatted Works Cited page (the works cited page is not included in the total minimum word count). Lastly, this paper must not use firstperson (“I,” “me,” “my”) or second-person (“you,” “your,” “yours”) pronouns.

According to our module, "Adults in midlife play important roles in the lives of the young and the old"

Write a response regarding the above statement and how you have observed this in your own circle. Perhaps you will be able to interact with and observe some middle adulthood relatives this week. (For example, middle aged adults are referred to as "sandwiched" as they may be still raising children (or grandchildren) and also helping aging parents/relatives.) How does this age impact you?
