Legalizing marijuana

Introduction

In the United States of America, there have been various changes regarding the laws concerning the use of marijuana. Often times, there has been a conflict between the federal and state laws regarding cultivation, sale and use of marijuana in various states. In states like Washington, individuals are allowed to cultivate and possess marijuana. The provision is however only meant for possession for either medical or recreational use. Regardless of the conflict between the federal and state laws, the Drug Enforcement Agency has been involved in enforcing the controlled substance act which is intended to regulate the use of marijuana. Despite the act however, more states are making their pleas to have the use of marijuana legalized for medical if not recreational use. Such is the case with the state of Florida where a divide has risen up with some people proposing the legalization of marijuana for medicinal use while others are against its legalization.

The issue of whether to legalize the use of marijuana or not started back in the year 1998 when the 692 initiative was voted into law and dubbed the Washington state medical use of marijuana act (WSMA, 2016). Through the act, patients with specific medical conditions were allowed to legally poses, sell or cultivate marijuana for medicinal use. After attaining a medical authorization certificate and having it signed by medical professional, such people were allowed to possess marijuana but only in limited quantities. The law would also protect doctors who were responsible for prescribing marijuana to specific patients provided they only gave the prescriptions for patients that were compliant with the regulations set for medical marijuana use. Limitations were however put in play to restrict the amount of marijuana that one was allowed to possess and the type of diseases that were eligible for marijuana prescriptions (WSMA, 2016).

Methodology

The methodology for this paper involved researching various peer reviewed journals that addressed the issue concerning the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes among them being the state of Florida. Like most states that are yet to legalize the use of marijuana, Florida has had various debates as to whether to follow states like Washington that have already approved the use of marijuana. According to WSMA (2016), the 502 initiative was voted in and it allowed people to use marijuana for recreational purposes. Through it, any individual aged 21 years and above could legally possess marijuana. The initiative however implemented heavy taxation on marijuana and the money collected would be used for the purpose of educating people on the effects of substance abuse and offering health care for those who abuse various substances.

The state of Florida had already made approaches on the use of marijuana for medical purposes. The state had ventured into using cannabis oil that was extracted from cannabis and was useful in treating epilepsy. Such benefits of marijuana have led to support gathering for the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes. Polls conducted in the state revealed that 57% of the population tested supported the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes. Another poll conducted in Quinnipiac University revealed that 88% of the students supported the legalization of marijuana (Kardish, 2014). The growing support for marijuana is as a result of the various benefits patients stand to reap if its medicinal use is legalized. According to Boyette and Wilson (2015), the use of marijuana as a medical painkiller could help reduce the number of people who get addicted to other drugs that are more harmful. They further state that the number of people who died in the state as a result of overdosing from the various pain killers was likely to decline by 25 percent.

Other than its effectiveness as a pain killer, marijuana helps to provide relief for patients who suffer from multiple sclerosis, muscle stiffness and alleviates pain of people diagnosed with AIDS. It is also effective in treating people suffering from Parkinson’s disease and post traumatic stress (Kardish, 2014). Like most drugs, the use of marijuana as a medicinal drug has its own share of side effects. These negative effects are however not serious and the patient can tolerate them. The conclusion has been drawn from various tests that have been run on the effects of using marijuana as a medicinal drug.  It is only wise that the drug should be given proper consideration as an ideal medicinal drug (Pain, 2013).

In the year 2010, the University of California conducted various random clinical trials on the medicinal capability of marijuana especially is it was inhaled. The results from the studies revealed that the drug could be used to treat various ailments among which was treating patients with neuropathy diseases. The tests not only investigated the effectiveness of marijuana in curing diseases but also its ability to combat ailments. Other than its ability to eradicate symptoms such as nausea that comes with chemotherapy used in curing of cancer, the cannabinoids in the drug have the potential to modify disease prevention. Scientists discovered that they have the ability to relieve disorders in the autoimmune system such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. The drug is also capable of treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer which are both neurological disorders (Boyette & Wilson, 2015). The drug is also being investigated its ability prevent cancer since it is believed to be capable of initiating programmed cell deaths and then forming new blood vessels which results to reduction of the spread of cancer cells and thus the disease itself.

Discussion

According to Boyette and Wilson (2015), marijuana contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). These two ingredients have various health benefits such as relieving pain and helping people to control seizures. Even though the drug enforcement agency has been laxative in classifying marijuana as a medicinal drug, various health organizations have called for the agency to reduce the restrictions against its use. Lowering the restrictions will pave way for more research which will enhance the amount available to determine whether marijuana is beneficial as a medical drug or not. Such information will be of great importance because it will help in identifying the results that may occur if children or individuals with neurologic disorders use products that contain marijuana.

Position statement

While the benefits for using marijuana for medicinal purposes are many, there are those who are unwilling to have it legalized for such purposes. Their decision is mostly based on studies that discuss the negative repercussions that may arise from the use of the drug. According to Landsman, Livingston and Wagenaar (2013), people who use marijuana are likely to become addicted and thus dependent on the drug. Adolescents and young adults are the most at risk and use of the drug could affect their education negatively. Though this may be an outcome, the chances are minimal and the drop in level of education may be caused on other factors and not necessarily marijuana. Marijuana has a lot of advantages that could be reaped if it is legalized for medicinal use. It is therefore the position of this study that legalization of marijuana as a medicinal drug should not only be considered but also approved by the state of Florida.

Self-assessment

Summary

It is through this process of self-assessment that I was able to realize of the great potential that I have on some areas of life while there are others that I am not good at. One of the great parts of life that I am well competent in is in leadership. I have quite great leadership qualities such as selflessness when it comes to assisting other people and that also includes inspiring and team work. In terms of career path, I prefer an organizational that supports the employees and encourages quite a good relationship amongst all the employees. I also have a great interest in organizations that encourage creativity of the employees and innovativeness. Management of an organization is also paramount in any organization hence I prefer those organizations that have good management. My preference is on traditional office setting rather than telecommuting where I can be able to go to the office and carry on my tasks hence enabling me to work on a wide range of interesting projects. Thus I have medium preference for telecommuting practice. I also have good listening skills as I love listening to what others are saying and avoid any form of bias and attitude that may affect my listening skills.

Insight

Leadership concept basically refers to the capability to lead basing on skills that is highly sought to deal with people by leading them and encouraging team work thus motivating, enthuse and also building respect among all people. Leaders in most cases lead others and their main interest is on others (Yukl et al 3). Organization culture concept is a concept where the employees have shared goals, values and beliefs that govern how human resources behave in the organization.

These are the values that strongly influence the employees in organization and dictates how things are done in the organization. Telecommuting concept is a new work arrangement where employees work at the comfort of their homes without commuting to the place of work. This has been enhanced by the technological advancements that have allowed the use of technology while working hence reducing physical appearance to work. This will however be determined by the type of organization and the management of that organization. Listening skills concept is a skill that involves active participation towards listening to others as they talk. This involves giving of full attention to the speaker, staying focused to listening, allowing the speaker to finish before interrupting, asking questions and giving back of feedback (Sypher et al 295).

Implication

Leadership is quite important and being a leader requires so much sacrifice for others and engages others towards the fulfillment of a common vision. Thus it is important for a person to have good leadership skills. A good leader ought to have good listening skills so as to be able to set a good example that others can follow. It is important to always listen and give others a chance to state what they have and this allows people to come to a consensus and to understand each other. The organization culture is important as it determines the kind of organization.  In this case organization management should enhance the sharing of ideas by all the people in the organization so as to ensure that there is collaboration and cohesion that results to the success of the people and the organization. Telecommuting is important especially with the changes in technology and everything around us but in organization that I am interested in traditional office setting is the best since it will allow team work within the organization more efficiently than while telecommuting.

            Scholarly Databases vs. Websites

Scholarly databases are distinct from website databases because they are written by professionals while those from the websites are published by nonspecialists.  Additionally, scholarly databases are reviewed through a peer process while the website databases are reviewed by the editor (Badke, 2014).  The scholarly databases hold footnotes while the others fail to mention sources. The website databases hold several advertisements and graphics which are irrelevant to the published data. On the other hand, scholarly databases hold minimizes advertising and graphics unless they are fully relevant to the given article. Scholarly databases hold more relevance because the published information is fully researched for (Badke, 2014).

When determining the credibility databases the internet can be very challenging and time-consuming.  Technological advances have generated wealth information that is readily available. The challenge, however, arises in the quest to decipher via all the data that is generated through a single information search on the internet.  In order to determine whether the database that I have gotten is credible,  I check at domains such as  URL which is a locator of a uniform resource where to verify that it ends with .org or Gov. This, therefore, implies that the  information and the whole website is published by the  government or other reliable organizations.  If the URL link ends with .com this means that the website is not scholarly as the information is published for personal and commercial utilization and therefore the publication would have been done by anybody thus making it not- academic (Blakesley, & Hoogeveen, 2012). Additionally, I utilize systematic approaches in determining whether the site is academic which helps in evaluating the credibility of the sites. This strategy is, however, time consuming thus making it challenging to utilize.

                Editorial

            Part 1

The selected article is ‘’The Secret Rules of the Drone War’’ by Eric Hanson. Hanson holds that president Obama and his government are utilizing secret strategies and guidelines in fighting counterterrorism and that his government is not transparent about the issue (Hanson, 1). In the beginning of this month, the nation’s administration revealed the total numbered of individuals who have lost their lives since 2009 in strikes that are related to counterterrorism. Hanson holds that the report held very little information about the incidences and little was additionally revealed about the secret drone campaign that the government plans on utilizing (Hanson, 1).  Based on my opinion the offered information was adequate because in order to reduce the risks of individuals dying in counterterrorism strikes secretive measures and campaigns needs to be utilized.   This is supported by the fact that president Obama ordered the government agencies to utilize more strict guidelines by developing better technological strategies in reducing the rate of deaths in areas where America holds no combat declaration (Woods, 186). It is not like he waited for his term end to declare this because the issue was still being developed and proper strategies had not been established. Despite that little was offered to the public the government is characterized by transparency.

            Part 2

The article the secret rules of drone war done by Hanson is characterized with errors. This is because the information is not based on facts but on assumption. The fact that he states that the government has no transparency because the little report was revealed about the death of individuals in counterterrorism strikes is not well rooted.  President Obama raised the issue during this period because it was the right time and not because his term is coming to an end soon.  Transparency can be seen by the fact that he requested that the agencies developed better strategies to ensure that innocent individuals do not die in non-combated nations.  The article, therefore, fails to identify clearly why the administration has no transparency in regard to the issue despite the minimal information that was offered.  The article did not establish the main reason that resulted in the reporting by the government and why some information was not released.

            Part 3

Advantages and Disadvantages of Persuasive Appeals

            Response 1

An announcement encouraging students to avoid binge drinking

The persuasive appeal is effective and useful in the creation of awareness. This makes it advantageous because it acts as a form of communication where individuals are fully aware of the negative activity that is taking place.  However, the appeal is disadvantageous because it can be strongly impersonal as the delivered message is more personalized thus challenging the appeals of the masses. The message thus touches individuals at personal levels rather intended.   This may thus result in I false interpretation because of the inaccurate vision that is developed by the message.  The message may, therefore, mislead the perception of individuals as it is not well supported. The appeal is, therefore, disadvantageous because it may result to personal offenses to the individuals who are involved in the act.

Response 2

A fund-raising brochure for a day care center to be distributed in a church, synagogues, or mosque

The appeal may be advantageous as it will distribute information to a wider range of individuals. This will, therefore, increase the efficiency of the appeal since communication is more effective.  However, the appeal may be disadvantageous because it may not reach the intended audiences and the message deliverance may not be reliable because of its inaccuracy.  The appeal may, therefore, be taken for granted because of lack of emphasis on the designed message thus placing the persuasive appeal at a disadvantage.

            Charlie Chaplin

            Section 1

Charlie Chaplin is a comic giant because he utilizes instruments in parodying the voices as well as making fun of all the talking films and the involved characters.  He imitates the monotone intonation of the boring speech that is presented by the mayor in an unintelligible squeak and squawks that are generated in series. Charlie is, therefore, a comic genius based on city lights movie because he utilizes silent comedy to communicate. This is achieved through the utilization of body language who serves as the film’s speech since there is no speech in the film.  The film is structured in a form where there is no dialogue and no existence of super realism which is obtrusive. Therefore the flow of the film is not interrupted and this makes his comic very strong.  He does not need to illustrate speech in order for individuals to understand and connect but he instead utilizes body language which is silent that making his comic more loud. For instance, the tramp’s friends are those individuals who cannot see him and his appearance which is shabby sets him apart from people (Chaplin, n.p).

            Section 2

Charlie Chaplin is a dramatic genius because he utilizes the thematic realization of dialogue in the modern times movie in depicting drama.  The movie is not a completely silent film because there are several dialogues snippets as well as the effects of sound.  The dramatic genius nature is depicted by the fact that every character who is involved in a speech except him is mocked.  For instance even, when tramp attempts to open is mouth for the First and only time in the film the words generated is defying and nonsensical (Chaplin, n.p).  This is an escalating convention that conversation is essential for entertainment, substance as well as quality. Moreover, his dramatic genius is represented by the fact that his conversation is not mocked because he believes that the modern changes are not beneficial.  For instance in the film the tramp is constantly attempting to go back to jail because it is the only placed that make him feel safe and protected (Chaplin, n.p). Through the characters, he utilizes a language that is easy for individuals to understand the nature of changes that he believes are essential and not beneficial.  From the modern times, the dialogue to the Tramp and other characters are mock because they are nonsensical.  He utilizes humor in order to develop the general understanding of individuals.

            Section 3

Charlie Chaplin is a political genius because in the great dictator he plays the role of Hynkel who is a political dictator and acts as Hitler. Additionally, he also plays as a barber from the Jewish community and looks like Hynkel.  His political genius is illustrated in his capability to demonstrate the full understanding of World War II as well as the potential threats posed by Mussolini, goring, Goebbels and Hitler towards the western civilization.  Moreover is fully able to make history hilarious through his play (Chaplin, n.p).  He is able to confirm the events understanding that took place before the occurrence of WWII with adequate knowledge and history background.  In his plays, he represents political events and history by utilization of poetry and humor where the globe and Hitler scene are made to be the most memorable scenes in the whole film.  He is, therefore, a political genius because he provides an understanding of those men that were involved in the war start. For instance, the film begins with the presentation of a speech where Hynkel represents Hitler who delivers insults against the Jewish. Chaplin states that his excellence has just made his words to the Jewish (Chaplin, n.p).

Effective Classroom Management

Classroom management is a general term that teachers referring to the procedure of ensuring that classroom lesson ride effortlessly despite having students with disruptive behavior (Hue, & Li, 2008). It also implies the fact of preventing any disruptive behavior that can arise in a class. Classroom management constitutes of the relationship between the teacher and the student. How this relation impacts the student is both in change of behavioral change and performance. Good classroom arrangement contributes to the smooth running of class lessons though it doesn’t guarantee good behavior (Garrett, 2014). But with good arrangement the teacher gets the chance to monitor the work and the conduct of each student in the class.

Good classroom management first and foremost requires the teacher to love his or her students and be a friend to them. This is a great way through which the students’ characters can be studied because of the free feeling between them and their teacher. This gives the child to recognize the teachers’ appreciation of the beauty of their behavior even if they err sometimes (Hue, & Li, 2008). It also constitutes of the assumption of the teacher on their student. For great and successful management the teacher should have the best assumption in each student in the classroom. This might not be audible but actions make it clear when the teacher gives students good treatment that encourage them believe that they should be great in all aspects.

Praising whatever is worth it wherever a chance avails itself is another way that makes it easy for student to improve their behavior in a class. When appreciating, the teachers gets a room to restate the expectation for student behavior in a positive way. Those that had not heard the first time get a chance to hear it once again more clearly making it easier for them to meet them. The teacher should also identify him or herself to the students, who she or he is and why he or she chose to be a teacher (Hue, & Li, 2008). They makes them to build trust in the teacher for both behavior and conduct support. Forging a class identity positively also make the students feel as part of something special and develop pride of being members of the class.

Finally, having a plan for the students is very key for their mind setting and readiness. This calls for having a clear lesson plan for each day from the stating lesson to the end of day (Garrett, 2014). This Also includes need of having a clear sense of each students’ behavior. When they seem to do wrong the misbehaviors should be confronted directly, clearly and with compassion. This is all that is comprised in effective classroom management.

Applications of Hypothesis Tests

Type I error involves the rejection of a null hypothesis that is true. This kind of an error can be equated to false positives (Ary, Ary, 2014). For example I had estimated that it would take a minimum of 20 minutes to prepare, have breakfast and leave the house but I imagine that 20 minutes would be too much to spend on preparing. However, I ended up using more than the 20 minutes I thought would be too much and thus woke up quite late. The resultant cost associated with the extra time wasted to cover up for the time needed to avoid lateness can be regarded as the consequence of this type 1 error. If the null hypothesis, that it would take at least 20 minutes to prepare and have breakfast, is rejected, then this would be untrue that more than 20 minutes is needed and it is a false claim that such much time would be needed to perform the task, but if the hypothesis accepted, then in a real scenario it would take more than the stated time to complete the same task. The amount of time allocated for the task has a significant direct bearing on the type I error. This error can be said to be controllable.

Type II error on the other hand can be equated to a false claim. It occurs where a hypothesis that is false is not rejected (Ary, Ary, 2014). In the above scenario, if the estimated time for performing the task is less than 20 minutes and such a null hypothesis is accepted, a type II error is bound to occur. The consequences of type 1 and type II errors thus depend on the null hypothesis statement.

The Relationship amid Control and Planning

Control and planning are two distinct management functions but they are connected closely.  Without developing a planning ground the control functions are ineffective and this therefore means that without the existence of control the practice of planning is completely meaningless.  The p[purpose of each function cannot be achieved without the connection of the other (Lussier, 2012).

Planning functions precedes the practices of control as they both succeed each other.  Controlling and planning are two distinct and inseparable management functions because the activities of management are put in order by planning while controlling ensures that they are placed in the right positions (Lussier, 2012). Both control and planning activities follows the same system strategy which is planning followed by results the corrective action.  Controlling are planning are integral sections of a company because they are both crucial for successful running of the business.  Controlling and planning are functions which are effective ion reinforcing each other as each of them influences the other management functions (Lussier, 2012).

When planning is ineffective the controlling functions in the organization may not proceed well.   Controlling however helps in rescuing the management functions when planning fails due to the occurrence of unpredicted events. This helps in achieving better plans which are influenced by the strong relationship that exists between controls and planning in management. Controlling and planning are dependent on each other because they are both forward looking. This means that planning is designed in order to organize how events will be done in the future while controlling compares both standard and past performance in order to ensure that the future is catered for (Lussier, 2012).

            Informal and Formal Group’s Differences

Formal groups in the work place are those groups in the organization that are comprised of subordinates and mangers who hold a direct influence on persons that are within the group (Bose, 2013).  On the other hand informal groups are the organization’s groups that are linked with each other but are not developed by the organization.  Informal groups can thus be viewed as general voluntary groups while formal groups are non voluntary because they are developed and organized by the organization (Bose, 2013).

Managers are therefore necessitated to pay more attention to the informal group in order to subject motivation to the participants in the groups. This is mainly because the informal holds more strength in influencing individuals because they are centered on their needs.  The groups hold no pressure from the organization and therefore individuals can raise their issues freely.  For instance individuals who participate in informal groups are fewer because they lack motivation because they are not supported by the firm. Supporting the informal groups will attract more individuals to the group which will help in influencing all the employees in the organization (Bose, 2013).

Group’s formation in any organization should be as a result of natural cause. The major reason behind the development of groups is to motivate individuals to talk as well as developing their individual circles which can offer free interactions.  Since informal groups are developed based on individual interests, attitudes and likes they should be supported by organizations to ensure that positive attitudes are developed. This helps individuals in accomplishing the given tasks effectively (Bose, 2013).

            Onboarding strategy

The onboarding strategy that is utilized in my current working place is very effective.  Since the organization is comprised of more than two thousand employees the onboarding strategy is similar to that of the second article that is found in Forbes.  The company utilizes intranet to ensure that all the new employees are able to adjust fully to the new environment.  Employees are directed to formal training that occurs online based on the developed roasters every that are designed each month.  On the roasters the dates, tasks and the objectives are well stated and how they should be accomplished. This therefore involves the procedures, standards of operations and the annual requirements in achieving the given tasks.  There are very rare cases of confusion in the work place because every employee is well informed of their location each day. The strategy ensures that the fresh employees are able to familiarize with their tasks and the organization.

Although the onboarding strategy is strong in generating desirable results I believe that it should be improved. This is because the onboarding process can be described as socialization which is not well incorporated by the current strategy.  Several other mechanisms should thus be developed to ensure that fresh employees acquire the needed skills, behaviors as well as knowledge.  The mechanisms which can be added include formal lectures, meetings, videos, and orientations as well as printed data (Katzenbach, & Inayat-Khan, 2010).  This will help in introducing the employees to   their jobs as well as the organization.  These techniques are well established for development of positive results (Katzenbach, & Inayat-Khan, 2010).

            Recognition

I once worked in an organization where I received recognition which was based on work performance.  I once received awards for the best employee of the month due to my commitment, effort and positive impacts towards the assigned tasks. The company utilized the strategy of recognizing and rewarding employees in order to motivate them.  The strategy was effective as it ensured that individuals performed their tasks with positive attitudes.

I appreciated the recognition because it was accompanied by different changes in my job.  My tasks were changed and I was involved in job training for a month in order to develop my skills more. The reward was also a positive feedback of my contributions towards the organizational goals.  This motivated me to become a better employee and to develop better skills.  The reward made me to become a leader where I was able to lead other employees who I was working with in the same section.  This helped me in developing intellectual as well as leadership skills.

The missing piece of recognition is often the lack of appreciation. I received proper appreciation which made me realize that the organization was enjoying all the good qualities that the employees hold.  Providing recognition does not mean that the employees are motivated without adequate understanding on how the employees communicate.  This strategy was effective for me as it helped those that were appreciated that the organization values their efforts for changing its performance. The key to recognition is appreciating how every person feels in order to determine how the recognition process can be authentic.

Educational Financing

The education system is far from being perfect. Education financing, especially in higher education, is characterized by numerous challenges. The financing of education the system may be informed of government scholarships, fiscal stimuli and social facilities to the financially weak students. The financing aims at improving the access of higher education to students and also reducing the number of youngsters who do not participate in higher education learning (Paulsen, 2007). Financial factors affect the financing system are both direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are those that are obligatory that relate to books, study material among others while indirect cost result from the inability of one to have an income during the study period that does have a negative effect on the financing of higher education (Paulsen, 2007).

When planning for the finance questions such as who, when and how arises. This complicated the process because identifying who deserves over who the participation of teachers and parents. Teachers give the education performance of the student while the parent’s financial capability is assessed. Financial factors such as knowledge of social facilities and scholarships, subjective estimation, and chances to find a job have an effect on financing. Some of the students may be attracted to leave school and earn resulting to financial losses that are estimated when one starts studying (Paulsen, 2007).

Education financing ranges in many forms of financial support to the students such as government scholarships, nongovernmental scholarships, fellowships form of financing and Pell Grants. These forms of financing have increased substantially the number of higher education students seeking the financial support (Paulsen, 2007). This has resulted in large numbers of students pursuing their studies under the educational financing systems.

International Education

Access to good and quality education for all the children is a global promise that various organization tries to achieve. The aid of the international education aims at promoting children from the disadvantaged and marginalized group around the world. This is to ensure that the needy students do not lack education as one of their basic needs. The international education aid mainly focuses on developing countries due to the low income of the countries (Shields, 2013). These countries cannot be able to fund its own education system in full to ensure that there are no children left out in education. Due to the limited resources in these countries, international countries have come up with strategies through a different mode of educational aid to ensure that each child has access to basic education globally.

The International organization believes that education transforms the society and this reduces inequality and discrimination. The international aid aims at promoting rights in schools to all involved stakeholders through sustainable global partnership for education. Through education, knowledge is gained and poverty is eradicated leading to international development (Shields, 2013). Through the aid programs in international education, there are more projects that are launched to assist the communities in the marginalized areas. Learning facilities in these communities are also improved. This is done by building schools and providing study materials for the children and having other incentives to keep the children in school by providing meals to them. Developing facilities such as library complex that assist in learning is a role of international aid in education. Through international education, aid communities have been developed. International development has also been sphere headed through the interaction of different cultures (In Brown, 2014).

The aid of international education takes different forms. The aid can support numerous groups in different communities across the whole. This is to ensure that at least every child is given a chance to learn. International aid also has a form of scholarship whereby only the wise and the best performing students are further supported to have access to higher education in different universities across the world (Shields, 2013). This aims at motivating more students to work harder in school for there is a chance for them to pursue their dreams. This creates a chance for students from the very needy families have a chance of learning in some of the world leading learning institutions. Partial aid form of scholarship is given the also bright students who can be able to pay at least some part of the learning fee. This is done to also motivate children globally (In Brown, 2014).

Through the aid of international education children and various countries have benefited. International education aid has its own limitation. In order to have a smooth running of these programs different stakeholders have to come together. The aid is only continuous where the programs are labeled successful. The aid of international education is limited to some developing countries that the donors fee that it is for the best to provide unto them (Shields, 2013). There are those countries that are in need of such aid in their education system but cannot access the aid since they do not have authority over it. The aid also comes with a number of rules. This means that no funds can be used for side projects other than what is directly connected to education (In Brown, 2014). As much as to be done to ensure the success of the aid there are other alternatives coming up such as teaming with the involved government and other different sponsoring agencies to ensure that each party delivers what is expected of them and to cover a wider area in international education. Another alternative is funding the education system directly through the government education ministries so that proper allocation can be made and ensure that a large number of children benefit.

Impact of quality of professors on the perceptions of teachers

Introduction

The running of the whole schooling system is dependent on different levels of the learned parties of education. Each body in the education system matters for the achievement of the student at the end of the schooling program. Teachers have several perceptions concerning their students with reference to the quality of professors operating in the field (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). These perceptions cuts across from academic views, morals, and ways of solving issues either academic or social all with reference to the professors’ quality. With poor quality of professors the outcome is seen on the students and the reverse which many schools works to attain also applies. This perceptions has impacted the activity of the teachers inregard to their productivity in the outcome of their students and their progress even in the late levels of their studies. Teachers henceforth believe that the quality of the professor is what affects their students’ performance and furthermore affect their career choice. Some of these perceptions have been proved by research to be the trend that has taken its course in the field (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015).

Teachers perceive that their students taste for a certain field is determined by the faculty members of the particular field. The faculty members, who are professors act as the gatekeepers who encourage new students into exploring a field or on the other hand by discouraging them from the area of knowledge (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). Research has found out that this has been attributed towards by what the students remember of the professors who inspire them and those that annoy them. If the faculty members of a field is comprised of professors who annoy students they tend to avoid the field as much as they can. On the other hand, the students tend to flock in fields with faculty members whom they like and find inspiring. Research has found out that the role of faculty members is important whether students have intended to major in the fields or not. It makes it important for chairs of departments and deans to recognize that they need more skilled personnel in their faculties for they are the ones who draw students into the field. There is a real danger of not considering this for it was indicated that many students make judgements generally not only of the professor in charge of their intended career field but with regard to the department as a whole (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). For example, student take examples of bad or annoying professors in the science field and because of the co-related units they end up writing off from the field generally.

There is also another perception which holds that the student’s achievement is directly correlated with the contemporaneous of the professor. Most universities in the United States use the student’s outcome in order to measure the teaching quality of the teachers. If the outcome is poor, many teachers perceive that the quality of the professor is low and vice versa to positive outcomes. On this note, the quality of professors impacts the overall performance of the school such that teachers taught by good professors during their undergraduate and post graduate degree programs yield best (Shen, Benson, & Huang, 2014). Teachers also perceive that the quality of the future professionals is highly dependent on the current professors in various faculties in the university. Many teachers have developed the habit of ranking the quality of professors to estimate and predict the quality of their students.  Studies also have confirmed that the primary outcome of what professors input is much dependent on the quality of professor. To achieve this study analysis, variables such as the percentage points earned as well as standard deviation are normalized and worked out to give out the ranking of professors. Tenure decisions and promotions are normally made from these results.

Teachers have also perceived that all quality professors are the best problem solvers to issues related to academics. Teachers tend to consult the qualified professors when they want to combat various challenges such as handling students, solving disputes and when the need of making the right decisions arises (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). This perception has brought a remarkable effect on the direction to which academic decisions are made. Students find these professors as their reference point in ways of solving issues and views of the academic field due to what they see their teachers doing and do all they can to ensure they get to those pick levels. Administrators have made quality professors to be their consultants while the less qualified professors getting little or no attention from the school fraternity. On the same knot, students also value advice from the quality professors and ignore that from the less qualified (Shen, Benson, & Huang, 2014). This perception has made most of the school systems to be run in professors’ opinions. This has shown its results in the final progress of the schools, which is generally the performance of the students’ academic wise. This comes as a result of having teachers consulting different levels of professors which gives them different looks to their challenges which they directly impact on the students.

Another perception that teachers have of the professors concerning their students is that themorals and worldly understanding of the students depend on the professors fully. This has been found by research that students have the tendency to believe that the perception and stands of professors both morally and in worldly issues are right (Shen, Benson, & Huang, 2014). Students are always very keen for they go deep to the individual lives of the professors they think is good or find encouraging. They go deeper to knowing what the stands of those professors are in major issues of life and believe that those are the right trends to follow. This at later stages dictates thestudents’interest and choice of career sometimes with the curiosity knowing as much as their professors know and attaining their levels of understanding. The teachers find out that perceive that when we have morally upright professors it directly translates to good morals of their students. For this reason, school institutions that involve very professional and quality professors for their consultation have their students having greater achievements and objectives compared to those that do not. This achieved through teachers where they believe that the professor input is exactly their students output; therefore, if the professors do not induct an eager mind in the teacher it will directly affect the outcome of the students (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). This becomes the students’ characters from school to his or her future studies and working life in terms of lacking an eagerness to know which should affects the performance of the school. Making schools to have students possessing characters which are inclined to those characters of the professors they look upon (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015).

There are other ways through which teachers perceive that professors impact their students’ performance. This is because they believe that they deliver to their students the input of the professor both academically and even in the way of leading lives. They also believe that the professors they seek guidance from at last have their effect on the students. Research has proved this to be true in a great way due to the students thirst for guidance from people who are professionally at the top (Beckett, Nettiksimmons, Howell, & Villablanca, 2015). This has created a great influence and called for great attention to the conduct of the professors to ensure that the country maintains a morally upright and successful society. However much people say that character development is a personal choice it has been proved that there are outside factors that professors ought to understand to ensurethat character is maintained.

It can be concluded that current professors have a higher hand in the determination of the professor to expect in future. Quality school system is determined by the professors in the field for they influence the academic zeal of the students and also their sharpness to getting solution to problems. Concerning the faculty members of departments great care should be taken to ensure there is balanced intake to different fields. The rating of professors should also be done fairly where teachers should ensure they get the right professors to have positive results from their students. Teachers should also avoid some negative perceptions that affect students in cases where they should not. They should also ensure that their outcome is the best despite the quality of the professors they met being the best. Professors should highly take note of their influenceto the students who are still in schools to ensure that there is hope for having future quality people in the field.

Case study

Situation

Summary

Greg Cook a head master at Panhandle Christian School (PCS) had a goal to attract quality teachers to improve the competitiveness of the school but the budget for this strategy is so tight until its success seems unachievable. There are limits beyond which he could not raise the tuition fees and the lower limit to which the tuition expenses cannot go beyond. If he reduces or does way with the benefit, the question arises on how the reactions of the beneficiaries would be. The dilemma comes about after the PCS got detached from the PCU and received a normal treatment as any other private school. A comparison between the PCS and the local independent public school also remains a challenge to the strategy from a salary perspective. In the benefit quandary, the head master revised the budget with the help of committee members with a conclusion that salary increment was a long term goal for the school.

Summary problem statement

The goal of Greg Cook was to improve competitive advantage of the PCS against a local independent public school. The issue is in the management and balancing of the school expenses such as the cost of paying teachers with the income benefit for the school. The main methodology is by increasing the teacher’s salary from the current $26, 800 to a higher level to attract quality teachers.

Answers

PCU will definitely withdraw its support of employee benefit because the PCS is now an independent institution. If the school succeeds in the main goal of employing quality teachers, it will not lose students. The best interest that PCS has is to maximize the quality of education as well as an increase of income and financial stability. Some families should “grandfathered” in order to implement the policy seamlessly. It was fair for the school to remain as less competitive rather than putting a lot of strain on the tuition payments and therefore the changes should not be phased in. the teachers have nothing to do with this discussion because from an overall point of view, the private school is so small to accommodate the policy.
