Strategies for Success in the Online Learning Environment.
Online learning has presented new challenges when it is compared with the traditional form of learning. This is because the students are separated from their instructors. This is done through a computer screen where one can be far from one another. The instructors find it difficult to engage the student in the content, activities, learning, and assessments. There are frustrations and even isolation and how to keep the students motivated throughout arises (Stavredes, 2011).
In order to make online learning environment a success, there are several barriers that should be eliminated. Social barriers are one of the challenges that face online learning. It is important to foster the community in online courses so that there can be some interaction between the students and the instructor (Stavredes, 2011). Strategies such as making the first contact before the course begins such as sending short videos with a personal touch will assist in overcoming the barriers. Creating an introductory activity and providing opportunities for learning interaction plays an important role.
Administration barriers hinder the success of online learning. To overcome such barriers strategies such as establishing contacts and hours to communicate through the email address and phone numbers will allow the students to communicate with the office during working hours using adobe connect and Google hangouts (Rodgers et al, 2009). This helps in avoiding the feeling of frustration. Providing directions often using various means and also providing effective and timely feedback will help in the success of online learning (Stavredes, 2011).
Overcoming motivational barriers will help in student engagement and help to keep track. Breaking down of information that is easier for the brain to digest will help in making the information more meaningful. This can be achieved through lectures video. Sending reminders to the student to keep them on track and using a variety of modalities and multimedia will make the online learning environment more conducive (Rodgers et al, 2009).

This is just a small measure of how much I long for the consultancy docket in the university and all my efforts would be dedicated towards making perceptions and dreams come true.
Presentation of findings to the class
My aspect of interest in the university is utilization of university resources to its full capacity. On a survey done by to evaluate motivational strategies and the utilization of internet resources in most universities, it was found that most challenges such as inadequate infrastructural support, lack of enough and advanced telecommunication facilities and unreliability of the public electric power output (Ajegbomogun, Olatunji & Popoola 170). These challenges have been hindering the full utilization of the internet resource in the university for both the faculty staff members as well as the students’ association (Ajegbomogun, Olatunji & Popoola 170). Bridging the troubles would therefore be our aim.

Water is an important element in our ecosystem, and this is evident by the fact that 70% of the earth is covered by water. But of this 70%, only about 3% is fresh water and fit for human consumption. Over the recent years’ water shortage has become a very common problem with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) releasing data that stated that about 1.1 billion people lack access to fresh water and almost a third of the world’s population experience water shortage at least once a month. The same research concluded by stating that if the trends we have now continue, by 2025, about two-thirds of the world’s population will experience water shortage (Pepper & Brebbia 2012).
The major cause of this water shortage is climate change. As a continent we have continued to release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to the environment and this has really damage the ecosystem patterns. Due to global warming, weather patterns are changing faster and thus the water supply system is affected (Rached, Rathgeber &Brooks, 1996). Droughts are becoming more frequent, wet lands drying up, big rivers becoming streams of water, and eventually it is expected that glaciers and snow packs will disappear and thus create a major water crisis. This crisis will in turn affect our water consumption by cutting it to almost half and the availability of water for agriculture will also reduce there by creating a food shortage problem. Pollution is also a major problem. The pesticides we use in our farms, human waste that get directed to fresh water supplies and also industrial wastes are affecting our water sources making it harmful for human consumption (Zereini & Hotzl 2008).
What are the possible solutions or what can we do as human race in order to save ourselves from these shortages? That is the common question that many people ask. Since this is a global problem, finding solutions is important to our survival. In order to achieve water security, certain measures must be in mind. One, the water yield must be available as it guarantees water supply. Secondly, amount of water use required, that is for domestic, economic, agricultural and ecological water use. Finally, methods that helping the modernization of productivity (Savic 2005).
One way is by exploiting and utilizing water and resources in basins. There are methods that can be used in the optimization of local water resources. One is the utilization and exploitation of rain water. If people are taught of methods of harvesting rain water, this could be helpful during the dry seasons. Also building dams as a mode of water storage, when there is plenty of rain water can also prove to be helpful. Many people invest in agriculture and by using these dams as a source of water for irrigation during dry seasons. The people can be advised about the weather friendly plants and avoid water thirsty crops (Hoag 2012).
With regards to local water sources. It is much more important that there is optimal regulation of multi-water resources (Pereira, Cordery & Iancovides, 2009). This will help in the regulation of over exploitation of ground water. If methods of adaptation to the rainy seasons such as method of storage of surplus runoff water. This will help people reduce the exploitation of ground water during the wet years. My minimizing the use of ground water and maximizing the use of water will help recharging the now scarce ground water (Nkonya, 2008).
Another way to improve local water sources, it is key to improve the utilization efficiency of water resources. This means that there should be a restriction of fresh water in industrial problem. Also if the amount of water for agricultural use can be regulated, it would help reduce wastage. This will later on ensure that there will be plenty of water available for human consumption (Rogers, Leal & Markey 2014). Also for better utilization it is important to regulate the urban cities population since this is where excess water can be used. All these will not be possible under the wrong management there it is important that there is strengthening management and protection of water resources. This will include equipment management and replacement and technological renovations at existing construction. Also the management regime should be reformed (Richter 2014).
Management of pollution will also help reduce water shortage. Many of the water sources are being contaminated by toxic wastes from our homesteads and industries. There should be stricter regulations against companies that dispose their wastes in water bodies to pollute it. The sewage systems in towns are the major source of water pollution in the urban centers, therefore it is important that there are proper sanitation sewage systems that will reduce water contamination. This will help ensure that the water quality is not tampered with (Majumder 2015).
Weather pollution is also another key issue that affects the water supply system by changing the climatic condition. There it is important that all nations use renewable environmental friendly ways in order to reduce the produce of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. If we are able to control global warming the climatic conditions and weather patterns will be more tolerable therefore reducing the frequent floods and drought happening all over the world (Ul-Allah 2014).
These two methods are applicable to areas in Africa. Africa is one of the continent that suffers a lot from water shortage. Can use these two methods in order to regulate water shortage. For instance, since most areas experience different weather seasons, the natives can be taught of better ways of water harvesting during the rainy seasons. the people can also be educated about what agricultural products are suitable for the weather patterns experienced in the areas (Stauffer, 1999) With regards to pollution, slums in many cities have very poorly maintained sewerage systems, there it is important for the governments to invests in better disposal system. This will ultimately help in the conservation of the water available (Singh & Seo 1999).
The problem of water shortage affects each and every continent in the entire world. Therefore, it is important that we all an extra hand in order to conserve the water resources. It is the duty of each and every one to ensure that we will help alleviate this problem. If water is available to you it is important that you learn to minimize our usage, for instance, it is not proper to leave water running. Each and every step that you take will count greatly. If possible, help conserve the environment as this will protect our underground water. So the next time you think of wasting water, just remember that by your actions in 2025, you might on the lacking end (Kanmony 2010).

Amusements parks are popular venues for entertainment since the period in which they were established in the end years of the 18th century. Amusements parks are also referred to pleasure gardens. They were situated in medieval Europe in the 16th century and were incorporated with live picnics, rides, games, fireworks, entertainment, and dancing. The parks were founded by Tilyou C. George an entrepreneur master and the first amusement park was opened in 1583 by the name Bakken. The amusements parks become popular until 1700 when the political circumstances forced they close up and were reestablished in the 18th century. In 1919 over one thousand five hundred amusements parks had been opened in America. And the first theme park was created in 1950 which is the Disney land. The amusements parks have evolved gradually since the establishment and they operate as theme parks. The parks currently cater for a wider audience range with diversified age brackets. The industry of amusements parks is in a development globally as the visitors numbers are growing every year.
Why Do Companies Spend Billions On Amusement Parks?
Companies spend more on amusements parks in building parks themes. The activity is purposed for attracting more individuals seeking for leisure activities. To attract more customers the parks requires being fully equipped with entertainment facilities and activities to make them more popular. Eliminating themes from the amusements parks means that the parks are associated with nothing special that can motivate individuals to visit. The marketing strategies that the companies utilize are also expensive as they require to be well designed and to incorporate all ages (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016).
Immersion is another theme strategy that utilizes much money from the companies. The customers have to feel engaged to activities and setting up amenities at times it only requires a simple addition to make the customers happy and earn their loyalty. Based on the recent developments and trends companies are utilizing improvements such as the introduction of Wi-Fi for a small charge or for free. The companies additionally work to ensure that the parks provide high-quality services with high value thus making them favorable and affordable at each given opportunity (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016).
Why did the amusement park in France almost go bankrupt and why is the amusement park in America very successful.
The amusement park in France became bankrupt because o the utilization of an inappropriate operation strategy. First, the location was not favorable as the park was facing stiff competition room Paris hotels which were offering more favorable and affordable services (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016). The location denied the success of the park because the travel time to the city of Paris was only 35 minutes and the France park cost was as much as that of the Paris hotels thus making them more favorable and popular. In regard to the tourist sector, the proximity of Paris designed competition for the park as people opted for more traditional sites offered by Paris as well as the romantic Paris sites. Moreover, the parks failed in incorporating the cultural differences as the attention they utilized was wrong. They failed to differentiate their meals for the clients as most individuals would prefer a hamburger to sophisticated meals. The attitude was also wrong as the management utilized the assumption that most customers would be visiting the park like in America yet the park in America was well established (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016).
The marketing strategy also contributed to its failure because despite being characterized by a range of cultures and language the advertising campaign that was utilized was fully American. The advertisements were mainly aimed at the children thus leaving the adults with the option of whether to visit the park or not. More marketing efforts were required in France than in America since the park was not well established and therefore more convincing was necessary (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016). The park was characterized by much confidence which was reflected in their prices which were influenced by the high expectation of demand. The management failed in incorporating the cultural differences in Europe which failed to accomplish cultural integration which was necessary for the general growth of the park. There were several reasons for its failure which was mainly marketing and poor decisions by the administration the concept of trying to sell the American products to European was wrong (Emanuelson, 2013).
Disney Park in America was more successful because it utilized proper marketing skills, experienced management, and proper plan of operation as well as the incorporation of cultural differences. The American park utilized good marketing campaigns as all the age brackets wee involved to ensure that full awareness and convincing was achieved. Additionally, the services comprised of all the cultures which led to cultural integration thus achieving development. The prices were also favorable to ensure that demand was increased. The project planning was well conducted as the management left to space for errors which created a god impression t the consumers (Emanuelson, 2013).
There are more than 215 million visitors to the amusements parks every year. In 2015 Disney theme park had more than 20 million visitors which is an increase of about 6% from 2014 according to the statistics that were released in June 2015 (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016). The attendance of the amusements parks in a development around the world. According to themed entertainment association Disney has dominated the list of the most visited parks in the world over years. The Disney parks that are situated in Europe America and Asia are the top 10 most visited parks every year. There are over a hundred and thirty-five million visits to all the tip North American amusements parks in 2015 which is 2% more as compared to the visits in 2014. The same report holds that there were more than one hundred and seventeen million visits to the top twenty amusements parts in Asia which is 7% increase from the last financial year (Gephart, & Marsick, 2016).
Survey Analysis
Based on a survey conducted on the amusement parks most individuals prefer to visit the amusements parks for leisure during their free time. In comparison to sporting activities, swimming, and animal caring amusements parks are more preferred as it held 64.29% while swimming and animal caring held 7.14% and sporting activities held 21.43%. 100% of people are interested in visiting amusements parks and their motivation is mainly the fact that the parks offer perfect family outing, followed by attractions, and adventure. Individuals are not, therefore, willing to travel for more than one hour to the amusements parks and they are willing to spend less than 20 dollars on each visit. 92.86% of the individuals expect to meet a variety of entertainment activities in order to be satisfied. 46.43% visit the parks once a year because of their schedules and those that visit twice a year are 28.575. 96.43% have not experienced any accident at the park and therefore, they believe that the parks are secure enough. The majority of those who visit the parks are between the ages of twenty-six and 35 years holding 82.14%.
The Problems Faced By Amusement Parks
Amusements parks are faced with several issues which include, overcrowding, inadequate and insecure parking, small ranges of entertainment activities, access issues, lack f seasoned team of management and technological adoption issues (Hirsch, 2011). This issue, therefore, hinders the development of the parks as customers find the places undesirable. This, therefore, results in reduced revenue as individuals substitute other activities in utilizing their leisure time (Hirsch, 2011).
Solutions to the Amusement Parks Issues
In order to reduce the issue of overcrowding the parks is necessitated to utilize design faculties that are aimed to curb overcrowding. This is by ensuring that there are secure and ample parking facilities to accommodate the increasing demand. Additionally, the parks should be designed in a way that enhances easy access with an appropriate management in distinct seasons (Cascio, & Boudreau, 2012). Indoor activities should additionally be designed to last throughout the year to ensure that demands do not fall during some seasons. Technological advancement should be incorporated in wide ranges of activities for entertainment. This is to ensure that the consumers are fully satisfied based on their expectation which will result in market growth (Cascio, & Boudreau, 2012).
What Percentage Of Young Adults Attends The Park?
The percentage of young adults who visits the parks is represented by 82.14% and additional of 10.71% who are young teenagers who visit the park thus totaling to 92.84%.
Finding Out How They Maintain Security in the Amusement Park
Amusements parks ensure the security by utilization of CCTV surveillance system. For every amusement park, the top focus is creating secure surrounding in order to make the visitors comfortable and enjoy their stay. The high surveillance cameras are utilized in monitoring entrances, rides, car parks. Additionally, parks utilize security guards who survey around the park to observe any irregular activities taking place. This, therefore, helps in avoiding conflicts and ensuring that individuals are not involved accidents. In ensuring that the parks are also secure the amusements parks utilizes facilities that are out of harm to ensure that even the children are not prone to danger. This involves utilizing floors that are soft and materials that cannot harm them.
The Total Estimated Amounts Companies Earn Yearly As Profits
Companies earn more than 2.2 million dollars profits from amusements parks. Based on reports from last year every 11 parks generates a third of the total 45 billion dollars revenue and 20 % is from the 10 billion dollars which are the operating profit. Profit generation has increased over the years due to the development f the parks which are main them more favorable and popular.

Why America’s obsession with STEM education is dangerous
Summary
If those who live in the United States are united currently, this can lead to us alternating the education of the States and teaching about specific technical talents. We should therefore make sure that the Native Americans survive in a period that is associated by technical skills and that is fashioned by international competence. The removal of global learning is caused by the misleading of facts and this puts the State in a challenge path in the future. The States has been the leading Country through financial vitality, modernization and private enterprises. America has been providing a general form of learning as the inhabitants are not based in the specific areas with the long developed trade that gave ways for the young generation.
Response
Fareed Zakaria who is the writer of the book, “In Defense of liberal Education” explains why those in the States should be very protective as they try to invade the Asian way of learning. This is the reason as to why many of the Asian countries are putting more features of moderate education to their teaching. Modernization in America has engaged the insights more of technical innovations. The main reason as to why Americans get the liberal education worth to them is that it was formed in their basis.
For instance, the education talents such as hunting, farming and fighters taught the young teenagers on how to practice these skills. This modernization in the American government needed a novelty in education. That is why the skills changed in Greece and started to use the new innovated skills based on technology and were formed by the government. The common skills were never enough thus the Americans were to study how to run their individual communities and the performance of their own independence as they still do.
International students are enrolled all over the world’s universities and colleges.
They are basically of importance to these states where they join their universities.
However, these students do face a lot of challenges in the course of their learning.
Some of these problems result from the different foods, languages, learning schedule, unfamiliar lifestyle, difficulties in culture acceptance and personal hindrances.
Statistically, those students affected by cultural stress amount to 50%, while 11% were affected by homesick issues, 50% are affected by the long distance study and 5.9 % are thought to be affected by the increment in studies.
Solutions
As a result of the different challenges facing the international students, the transition period takes so long.
Transition process entails the transition from the daily lives to the cultural adoption (Wu et al 5).
Creation of an international department is one of the major supports that can help these students to be able to adopt their new lives.
However it is important to note that the universities administration should ensure that they embrace these students in a better way.
With time, the students will be able to adapt fully to the new language.
Counseling department
According to the various research carried out, it is evident that about 41% of the students experience stress.
The stress may be caused by homesick, cultural tremor as well as discrimination.
Counseling is however regarded as the best solution to helping these students.
Activities in the counseling department
Language being regarded as the greatest challenge facing these students.
The department offers them with experienced students who help these students by communicating to them in foreign language as they guide the students (Wu et al 5).
Most of these students fail to get compassion from the hosting university and since their families are away it is important to help them using counseling department.
Conclusion
It is important that these students should be enrolled in the counseling department for their easier survival in the new environment.
Those students who adapt easily to the new environment are able to perform well.
While those who fail to adopt well are subjects to stress which can ultimately result to suicide and psychological problems.
Counseling department is therefore important in the transition process of international students.

When measuring the commercial value of design using ROI different approaches can be utilized. This involves the use of monetary value measuring or gains, such as the increase in turnover, increase of gross margin, customer loyalty growth as well as engagement (Julier, 2009). The main focus can be done on the developed relationship between the designs and the customers. This is mainly because the largest impact that ROI can generate is loyal, rapid growing and a more motivated base for the consumers (Julier, 2009). This strategy helps in illustrating the success of designs through the involvement of communication and process thinking system in improving functionality.
The design is utilized to entice and different consumers and this, therefore, makes it hard to evaluate the investment value. However the ability to justify the development and whether the design has been able to increase profit is crucial in evaluating the progress of the business (Harden, & Heyman, 2011). ROI generally means that in the design investment return has to be in existence because every action should be characterized by an equal amount of reaction. Design can prove its value in commercial value by the measure of returns by focusing on their loyalty of the consumers, their relationship with the designs as well as their general engagement. Loyalty increase of the consumers can be measured using conversion model or NPS programs (Harden, & Heyman, 2011).
Consumer’s experience is becoming more crucial to competitive efficiency across the fashion and design industry. This is thus influencing the urge to invest even more in the management of customer experience (Osterwalder, & Papadakos, 2014). Without a well-developed ROI framework, the ability to build commercial value evaluation is challenged. Commercial return or value regards to experiences as well as the developed relationships. Customer trust or loyalty is effective in measuring the commercial value of a design because it represents motivation, loyalty, engagement, security, confidence as well as the faith that is built by cooperation (Osterwalder, & Papadakos, 2014).
The success of a well-developed design can be demonstrated by the use of statistics this is by viewing the design for communication, business aspect as well as procedural thinking. Customer’s relationships, engagement as well as their loyalty can be measured by setting targets. The targets must, therefore, be relevant on what is needed to be achieved as well as the impacts of the design strategy. The value is therefore established through increased usability, increased promotion, and advocacy decreased churn, increased retention and so much more. Design commercial value can additionally be measured using the time utilized for development as well as the involved costs. This involves evaluation the amount of investment that the design has utilized as well as the customer’s feedback that the design has generated as returns. This is the general value of the investment (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012).
Customer’s satisfaction is the major basis for evaluation because returns and value represent things like the ability to make individuals happy and making people healthier by meeting their expectation (Harden, & Heyman, 2011). Since the present world is more economical the loyalty of consumers is crucial in evaluating the commercial value of designs. This is mainly because the commercial value is linked to the positive financial returns that the designs provide by the provided investment. Usability and the desirability of designs are only measured through the relationship that exists between the consumers and the designs. Developing design-centric requirements helps in measuring the trust of consumers and the commercial value that they create in relation to the designs (Harden, & Heyman, 2011).
Designs are utilized as well as gaining a market share which has been proven by the design industry lately. Measuring the commercial value from the perspective of the consumers helps in establishing the real value of designs investments (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012). This is by establishing what the consumers have invested and what the investment has returned to them. This is, therefore, an effective was of establishing the capability of the strategy that designs are utilizing in delivering quality value. The relationship between designs and consumers can also be utilized in proving the commercial value of designs by evaluating the development of the relationship. This, therefore, involves measuring the engagement of the consumers with the designs and their level of satisfaction. Based on the presented expectations and feedback by the consumers the commercial value can thus be identified (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012).
Design computation rate can also be used to prove its commercial value. Designs have recently proved to be realistic through the experience of the users. This is mainly because ROI generally involves looking at the marketing campaign cost as well as the relative profit that is generated. The measure of value is therefore utilized in financing designs as well as the individuals involved and not marketing them. This involves establishing the amount of design that was invested and the general returns of the particular investment (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012).With measured returns on investment, design can fully prove its commercial value through increased consumer base. This is by y reducing the delivery costs, boosting the loyalty of consumers, increasing the consumer value and speeding up movements via customer lifecycle. This, therefore, involves increased retention and driving positive mouthy words and getting more consumers at a faster pace and increasing the possibilities of repurchase designs (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012).
ROI on development to the experience of consumers can be inclusive in commercial value establishment as it helps in indicating the effectiveness of designs (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012). The commercial value of designs is more effectively proven by consumer experience management as this strategy is effective in the provision of brands differentiation. Additionally, the strategy is crucial as the imperative to prioritize and validates investments has grown drastically in the design industry.
For instance on the case study of C & A corporation which focuses on the repositioning strategy of the corporation and the manner in which it has changed its consumer focus in becoming a value-driven business. This strategy has thus been effective in enabling the organization to evaluate its commercial value (Phillips, Phillips, & Edwards, 2012). The corporation was involved in the creation of conduct codes in order to deal with its suppliers and also developing of ethical standards in boosting the loyalty of their employees. Through this, the corporation has developed its market base gradually and the commercial value on ROI can be measured effectively. In addition from Levi’s corporation case study, the corporation has utilized the management of customer experience by boosting their consumer’s loyalty and reducing the services costs in increasing their investment returns. The company evaluates its commercial value by assessing customer engagement, developed relationships as well as the satisfaction level. With increased consumer’s loyalty, the commercial value of the business has grown which has, in turn, developed the relationship between the consumers and their designs.

The college football team has presented a request for permission to start the process leading to unionization. The presented appeal has already been signed by seventy percent of the football players. The goal was to intensify scholarship and their exposure for sports upon lessening the jeopardy of traumatic brain harm. The issue of unionizing college football players would affect both the public and the private universities while the NLRB has no power over the public organization.
Having at least thirty percent of the union cards signed would mean another step forward towards their unionization. The union cards were signed but the result might make them to step back for the N.L.R.B. dismissed the petition of the unionizing request. The university’s stand is also against the unionization which was supported by the N.L.R.B. The ruling was a great blow to the college players’ union movement.
I would recommend that the players assert their rights under the law to make them more acceptable and realistic in presentation. In such a case the president will be in a position to stand by them in their anticipations. However it is said that the ruling was politically good it was it was a loss to the college football players which would have gained them more confidence for competition in the NCAA Division I championship.
I would prefer that the right protocol when after a certain thing in whatever field and also adapt the habit of consultation before going to the next level. This will help by aiding the group with information and plan for the possible hiccups in towards the intended goals. Things would have worked better if the team sat with the responsible heads and decided on even how to create protection measures by themselves instead of going for what was against the jurisdiction.
Dram Shop Acts refers to a legal term that governs all the bars, taverns and other alcoholic beverage dealers in the united states (Knippenberg, 2013). The law pronounces liability to alcoholic dealers who may sell alcohol to intoxicated persons or minors when an injury or an accident is encountered as a result of drunkenness of their customer. The laws in this act are meant to protect the general public from the troubles that result to serving of alcoholic drinks to intoxicated persons or minors in the society. From the example of o the customer served in the LUXBAR, the first four drinks made the customer to become intoxicated. The bartender continued to offer the customer two more Manhattans which worsened the state of the customer. When the drunken man causes an accident to the woman, the bartender is therefore liable for the accident incurred when his customer was driving.
Common Law Liability refers to a tort or a responsibility in the jurisdiction of the common law that causes suffering, harm or loss to someone in an unfair way (EPSTEIN, 2016). The legal reliability demands the tortfeasor to be held responsible of his or her actions. From the case of LUXBAR, the bartender causes the third party; the injured woman to suffer because of the way of offering more drinks to his customer to a level of unconsciousness. The bartender is therefore liable for the injuries encountered by the woman. The Common Law Liability is meant therefore to give every citizen a duty of care to everyone regardless of whether there is a close relationship or not (EPSTEIN, 2016).
It is very difficult for the injured woman to win the dram shp case because proving or making a conviction that the injury was caused by the bartender is not easy. However, the woman being the plaintiff can succeed in suing the bar only when she proves that the defendant or the bartender was negligence. Proving that the bartender was negligent means that she must prove that the bartender continued to serve the patron with more Manhattans with the knowledge that the customer was intoxicated. The woman has to show that the bartender was reckless such that he served unreasonable amount of alcoholic drinks to the customer. The issue of recklessness comes in when the bartender is in full conscious and in full knowledge of the customers state and still continues to serve more drinks to him. Since the bartender in this case was in his right mind, the woman can successfully sue the bar. Other evidences that can help the case to be successful is the fact that the bartender served a customer who was already intoxicated. All this evidences support the claim of negligence and therefore the plaintiff is likely to win the case against the bar (Knippenberg, 2013).
With reference to the Dram Shop Acts, the bartender should be sued. If the woman gathers all the required evidence against the bartender, the plaintiff is potentially capable of suing the bartender. The other reason why the bartender should be sued is because his action is intentional. He is not able to resist himself from serving the customer despite of him being aware of how intoxicated the customer is. The Dram shop Acts is a newly introduced law and therefore this bartender should become a lesson to other concerning the law. For the sake of justice, the bartender should be sued (Knippenberg, 2013).
Rose had a legal obligation to effectively manage this group of rowdy drunkards which would demand her several wise steps to ensure that the intoxicated group was properly handle. The first step would be to distinguish between the colleges grads who were intoxicated (Miron, 2005). In this step, there is no magic formula that would be required because any person who is drunk posses more extensive behaviors such as shouting or speaking in a loud speech, slurred speech and other aggressive behaviors. Having identified them, rose would find a polite way of cutting the off (McMurran, 2013). In this case she would consult one of the sober colleagues who would help them to calm down. It is easy for them to respond to their fellow rather Rose calling security guard or rather the manager himself. Drunks can spot fear and therefore Rose should remain courageous and confident. With the help of the sober colleague, she can engage them in a positive conversation that will keep them occupied and distracted from their rowdy. Rose is therefore able to cut them off in a peaceful way which is the most efficient method she could apply.
Considering that Steve was the bartender, he made several mistakes concerning the actions he took and the actions he would have taken to calm the group. The first mistake is seen when he leaves the responsibility of handling the grads to Rose. He fails to give a directive measure that could best handle the case by just nodding his head in acceptance. He also made a mistake of withdrawing from his obligation of cutting off the noisy group. He would have handled the matters in a better way than Rose but he decided to leave. Escaping from a trouble rather than finding solution was the worst mistake he made (McMurran, 2013).
Managers have a duty to play in maintain a responsible alcohol service. First they should familiarize themselves with the laws that regulate the selling of alcohol especially the Dram Shop Acts (Miron, 2005). These acts provide limits to which they should offer their services and actions they should take to handle scandals of this type. They should also comply with these laws by denying their customers those services that go beyond the required boundary. Managers should also adhere to the age policies that restrict the minors from taking alcohol. It would also be advisable for managers to have a diary of incidences such as fights or arguments. This will help the manager to put measures that will prevent the occurrence of the same incidences. Proper filing of the records should also be considered because of any legal actions that may be taken (Miron, 2005).
In case a third party would suffer as a result of the group, Rose and generally the bar would be liable for the loss or damage. The potential issues that expose them to liability are: serving more drinks to already intoxicated college grads. They would also be liable for noise pollution if the neighbors would ignite complain to the authorities. The other issue would be any complain posted by the college authorities concerning their students. If the college comes to realize the state of their students, it would definitely sue the bar.

Civic engagement may take different forms of voluntary work through the organization involvement and participation. It is also a sense of individual responsibility that drives one to uphold his or her obligation in the community service (O'Leary, Lisa 55). It is for this reason that I took a personal initiative to join theNovi City Council to become a civically active member in the society. The council is made up of 19 members who were able to discover my compassion as the best value that could play a big role in the community service. Our work was revolving around identifying the needs that concerned children youths and families and directing them to the city council and also gives our recommendations. The team was focusing saving the youths from drugs and alcohol and how to prevent others from getting addicted. An initiative to achieve this plan incorporated the police department where a marathon was set up to raise $2000. This money was used in excelling the drug awareness about drug addiction. We were able to broadcast the drug education in the social networks especially in the local cable television. The money collected was used to put up warning stickers along the streets about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol. The engagement work has influenced my mode of socialization and how to handle different people at different levels. The workmates have helped me to gain experience in innovating and applying different problem solving techniques that are useful in my community.
My course in Drexel has been full of civic engagement activities that I have found pleasure to pursue. Civic engagement will look like a continuation of what I was doing with the city council in empowering the youth to live a productive life. It shall be a continuation of gaining experience and skills that shall propel my values more in imparting my fellow university students. Drexel University is committed towards becoming the most civically engaged university in U.S and therefore I fell that this is the best place for me. Actually the university can count on my support as a student in providing my services because it has become a part of my ethical obligation to be a civic volunteer(O'Leary, Lisa 55). My guaranteed presence is accompanied by my efforts to encourage other to join in the move. Many people will benefit from my past experience as well as the rejuvenated energy that I have had in the campus life. Drexel University has three dimensions from which it offers its support in civic work. Among the three dimensions, i will be ready to work in the faculty of research and academic programs which are meant to benefitdifferent individuals in the community. My work will beeducating the youths on various issues that seem to divert their focus from the core business of studying. I will be also take part in printing educative pamphlets and other reading materials that will spread our message. Considering how much I am into this work, I want my impact to reach a national level. All people will benefit from my services.
My public purpose in my future profession is toensure that youths grow to be productive people in the society.I hope to achieve this by ensuring that youths get the academic support that they might require, training them and diverting their focus from other bondages like drugs and alcohol. People with my profession who are willing to be part of the community service should join councils that carry out the work. They shall get nurtured and be able to participate in the problem solving in their communities for their benefits.

There Just Might Be A Way to Solve Los Angeles’ Traffic Problem
In Los Angeles there are only a few things more annoying than traffic congestion. For quite a long time the problem of traffic congestion has been having negative consequences for citizens and businesses alike.
According to research conducted by the LA Times (2014), Los Angeles is one of the most congested cities in the United States. In the year 2013 alone, Angelinos spent an estimated 90 hours in traffic. Furthermore, each person wastes an average of 39 minutes in the city of Los Angeles as a result of traffic congestion on the road. Therefore, the social lives of the residents end up being adversely affected by the traffic problem.
Moreover, business activities also get disrupted because of the congestion in the city. Businesses need to move raw materials and deliver their merchandise to the customers, and congestion leads to a delay in these crucial processes thus cutting down the profits. Congestion on the road leads makes business men to spend much time on the road which delays their activities causing a negative expectation in turn (Sorensen & Rand Corporation, (2008). Take an example of Jablon a business man with a family owned company who claims that he experiences slowdowns both in the air freight and vessel freight. His cargo is usually delayed to a period of around three weeks which interferes with the next restocking and this is a major problem in his business. The harmful impact on the economic activities is thus a major concern of the investors and people of Los Angeles.
In attempts to improve this traffic situation, there was a mechanism previously put in place known as Automated Traffic and Surveillance Control System (ATSAC). Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) started to use ATSAC in response to traffic overflow in the city during 1984 Summer Olympics. Sensors were implemented at every intersection, so this system was capable of regulating the flow of traffic without requiring physical adjustment by the assistance of an expert (Sorensen & Rand Corporation, (2008).
Even though the system was a bit to improve on the situation, it was still deficient. For instance, ATSAC was unable to tackle some conditions, such as when collision occurs. The system helps to monitor and make adjustment on signal timing for the signalized intersections around the city. In addition, the system only functions in local traffic, and thus leaves unsolved congestion on freeway. However, it has shown to reduce travel time by around 12% (Sorensen & Rand Corporation, (2008).
Furthermore, according to data from the US Census Bureau, population in greater Los Angeles metropolitan area has increased by over 6 million since the 1980s, resulting in a rising number of vehicles on the roads (Rand Corporation, Rand Transportation Space & Technology Program, 2008). Due to its limited capability, ATSAC cannot reduce traffic delay effectively in response to more urgent issues nowadays.
Based on the negative circumstance of earlier attempts, there is a need for an immediate new intervention in order to mitigate current congestion situation. Recent research shows that tradable credit schemes could be a solution to traffic congestion in Los Angeles.
Tradable credit schemes were initially used in environmental field, specifically in relation to pollution control. A certain number of credits were allocated to each corporation, and it must pay credits to emit pollutants (Rand Corporation, Rand Transportation Space & Technology Program, 2008). If running out of credits, the corporation needs to buy extra from government or other corporations. Therefore, business owners are motivated to restrict pollution in exchange for monetary return.
A number of countries have launched tradable credit schemes to control pollution, and gained optimistic result. For example, in South Korea, greenhouse gas emissions are decreased by 30% with the help of emissions trading schemes.
The successful application of tradable credit schemes in the realm of environmental management. This aims to emulate revenue neutral and an integrated transport pricing with a subsidy policy and puts into consideration travel delays. This has made experts hopeful that it could solve the traffic problem of Los Angeles city.
One of the studies by Grant-Muller and Xu (2014) explain that for the application of tradable credit schemes, commuters would be allotted tradable credits. The rates applied should differ in accordance to usage and rush hour timings (Grant & Xu, 2014). They researched on how tradable credit schemes can affect the trip and travel patterns in the travel system and they found out that the former could affect the mode choices of the travelers and a less effect as far as the overall trade patterns are concerned.
This system could help regulate traffic by ensuring that commuters avoid rush hours and take on certain routes via selective pricing mechanism (Grant & Xu, 2014). Moreover, some commuters might switch towards public transport in order to save on the cost of peak hours credits.
Travelers would consider their opportunity cost while choosing commuting routes and thus tradable credit schemes might prove to be an effective and sustainable way to tackle the congestion issue in Los Angeles.
Another upside of the tradable credit scheme would be the increase in revenue. On the one hand, government could profit from selling commuters credits. On the other hand, commuters could trade their spare credits in the market, and hence this would increase consumer surplus. Effective traffic control along with economic benefits seems like a tempting idea for the overall upgrading of the city of Los Angeles.
However, some obstacles and issues could come up with the implementation of tradable credit schemes for traffic regulation. Firstly, determining eligible commuters for the allocation of credits is the most crucial challenge in the implementation process. Secondly, political opposition might arise since it is likely that not everyone agree with the mechanism. Thirdly, initial implementation cost of the process might be a little high (Grant & Xu, 2014). Therefore, these barriers and issues will have to be smartly addressed by the authorities in order to implement tradable credit schemes in regulating traffic.
The implementation of such a scheme will be an infinitely advanced step from the previous efforts like road expansion which has not yielded the best results as expected. Therefore the chances of its success are great as well. If successfully employed, tradable credit schemes might just be the solution to solve the traffic congestion problem in Los Angeles. This scheme puts into consideration bottleneck congestion in a competitive transit with varied commuters distinguished by the value of travel time. It also charges auto travelers in form of mobility credits and reward those who travel outside the peak time with credits. Given the current dire situation, why not give this scheme a try.
Additionally, there are other ways that can help in reducing congestion in Los Angeles based on what is assumed are the causes of congestion itself. Research showed that congestion may be caused as a result of imbalance in the supply and the demand of roads. Therefore, in order to reduce the rate congestion, it is either necessary to increase the supply of roads or reduce the rate of peak hour auto travel.
Managing the roadways demand in peak hours may also serve as another way to reduce congestion in Los Angeles. Residents of Los Angeles are known to drive more miles per person as compared to other US metropolitan areas. Therefore this leads to a demand of more roadway than expected based on the population of the region. Thus managing the demand for driving in peak hours may solve the problem of congestion.
Pricing strategies may also help to a certain extent reduce on the level of congestion. Congestion pricing strategies which involve charging more for their higher usage of roadways during high travel demand. These may include allotting higher tolls for peak hour driving or charging highly those who park in the most convenient curb spaces during busier hours. This will make some drivers to change their travel patterns for fear of being charged and stop other from converging on a free capacity and as they do this, it reduces congestion to a certain level. Pricing strategies may help to offer additional benefit of generating revenue to support other investments needed in the transportation network. Raising transport revenue plays a big role in reducing the tax burden which could be imposed on the lower income earners (Richardson & Bae, 2008). This is also another way to tax the higher income earners since they are known of driving more than their counterparts the low income earners. Additionally they are more likely to drive in peak hours as compared to low income members. Therefore, pricing may enable efficient use of the road capacity by capturing revenues from such groups of people in addition to eliminating some who may opt to change their travel patterns while dodging the increased price on the road hence opening way to reduce congestion.
To reduce congestion in Los Angeles, small changes in driving can also help. It is possible to ensure a few cars are on the road at a given time (Richardson & Bae, 2008). Reducing the number of vehicles passing at a certain time even at a small amount can produce a higher reduction in congestion delays.
It is of great importance to strengthen the Congestion Management Program of Los Angeles. This program may help in monitoring highway and roadway systems of transportation, analysis of multi-modal systems, programs in transportation demand, and the land use analysis (Richardson & Bae, 2008). This program will be in position to address the basic causes of severe congestion and how they can work out to minimize it in most times of need.
